The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

This may be posted somewhere in this thread but does anyone have any watch recommendation for someone with a nickel allergy? Most watches I try lead to a rash / irritation :ohwell:
i read it in passing maybe a few years ago in another forum but i think titanium is the only option as it has some layer of coating or something that can prevent irritation

nickel-free watches are pretty rare especially for higher end brands iirc

I think Rolex uses a type of stainless steel that has a lot of nickel. platinum group metals are supposed to be good for ppl who have bad reactions to metals but there's other metals mixed in them FWIR.

What would you guys say is a good price for the Datejust 41 126333 with the champagne dial in mint or near mint condition?

Somebody in here haaalp

id say yes since it retails for what? $13k? $14k?

id probably ask if they can do 10.5 or 11 but its really up to you if ~$500 will make or break the deal

does it come with a signed warranty card?

He said it would be 2019 with box, papers and open card (whatever that means)

open card could just mean unsigned

if you are buying privately then chances are its just unsigned and you cant claim for warranty while buying from someone like davidsw and he can get you a signed card from an ad and then your watch has that 5year warranty from rolex

i think thats a big difference in price but it is up to you what that is worth

It’s a private dealer basically who I’ve known for a while. You think he should go down to 11k at least?

If you’re going to increase your budget do it for something you actually want. Don’t settle.

Doesn’t hurt to offer and let him sit on it.

This is the exact watch I want. Honestly it’s a watch I’d plan on keeping for forever anyway so I wouldn’t really need the signed warranty card anyway. But I’m just wondering if because the card isn’t signed should I be asking him to go down to 11k at least even though it’s brand new with stickers, tags, box and everything.

id definitely go ask for as low as possible, to me the signed warranty card is huge because anything happens and can be covered by rolex for the next 5 years could save you hundreds/thousands in the long run

Tried this on last week. Loved it.
Good everyday watch in my opinion.

I think I’m going to pick it up soon but I would like to see the two tone version in person first before making a decision. They only had the rose gold version and this one in stock of those with black straps/faces.

Good choice. I've got one myself. I would advise if your going to buy one that you buy the model with the bracelet as it might be harder and more expensive to obtain one after. The strap costs £200 in the UK so not too expensive.

Does the strap taper?

Good point. Appreciate it, man
The strap doesn’t really taper, I don’t think. If at all, it’s so slight I didn’t notice.

I remember your post of this one a while back. That got me looking into it actually and now I’m fully on board.
