I had an odd encounter at the grocery store the other day. Some dude was following me up and down the aisle. I didn't give him attention since I got headphones on.
I would have started following HIM around the store.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing though.
Definitely a bad thing in the case of AIM.
It was notorious in the "OG usernames" community for being extremely vulnerable to all kinds of account theft methods.
AIM was actually a popular communication platform in said community despite all that. The only reason that worked was because of the community rule to not steal eachother's AIMs or at least to give it back if there was a misunderstanding about ownership.
The time of AIM is long gone but for example, various people offered a service where you'd pay a relatively small fee (like $50) to obtain "any" AIM. You'd get it the same day for a low price, 100% success rate.
Not all those people used the same method either, there has never been a time where AIM wasn't completely vulnerable to at least 2 methods.

I don't think account theft would be an issue for the average person of course but I also don't see a reason to voluntarily expose yourself to zero security.
Whatsapp, or basically any other communication app, doesn't have those same issues.

You gotta develop a strong angry face to let them know it's not appreciated.

Not too long ago I was talking on the phone walking into the grocery store. Im at the cross walk and I get the feeling someone or something is RIGHT behind me. I look back its a car bumper like 4 inches away from my leg. I straight up channel my mother by giving the guy the, "I wish you would!" look, while continuing to walk and talk. The driver does that hand wave apology but never looks up. I hang up the phone, grab a cart and some guy walks up to me smiling big af, he says, "Man you gave that dude a death stare! That was AWESOME!! I thought it was a woman!" Till this day I have no idea why he thought I was looking at a woman, or why he was so impressed.
