There must be a region in the US with a lot of E's and F's pushing up the average.I'm living in the a cup part of the country.
Encouraging kids to read is overrated IMO. I improved my verbal ability and reading comprehension drastically in my late teens to early 20's by watching various YouTube videos.
It was not so much visual aid that helped me. It probably had more to do with watching or listening to topics that interested me, and being able to do so while multi-tasking which saved me time. I did not watch youtube with the intent to improve my reading and verbal skills, it just happened to help. So I acknowledge that people learn in different ways. I just don't see how reading could be the best way to learn something. For example, will reading about basketball and fishing for 2 hours a day make you better at it than spending the same time actually doing the activities? You do know thier are different reading levels, for all ages.
If you need visual aids to help improve your reading level by all means go ahead. But everyone learns differently and reading a book is #1 way to learn something.
