Fwiw changing headlight bulbs has become increasingly harder over the years. My old Infiniti put the access area behind the wheel so you had to jack up the car and take off the the tire just to change a damn bulb. With my bmw I have no idea where the bulb is located or if it’s even a bulb at all or a full assembly. I’ll just bite the bullet and let the dealership fool with it.

My mom got an 09 old woman Mercedes thats been parked at her house for almost a year because the right headlight is out. You cant just replace the bulb you have to replace the whole housing(so they say), and in order to access it you have to take the wheels off blah blah. They want $975(for two) and she refuses to pay so she drives her beater 02 ford escort .

It’s terrible with German and some of these high end Japanese cars. You have to have a socket wrench with a long enough extender and the correct socket size to actually reach the housing and grip the bolts, and the socket better be magnetic because if the bolt falls out during removal you are screwed. If you don’t have all the proper tools it’s not worth the trouble of doing it yourself.
