the thread about nothing...

Been back and forth in an interview process with this company for over a month now. Should I hit up the company rep I've been in touch with, or let them reach out? Cliff's:

- In-person interview was two weeks ago (Tuesday)
- Last Monday I reached out for an update and was told "Feedback from the team was extremely positive, but they are wrapping up some more interviews this week. I'll be in touch once I have updates".
- Today I want to reach out, but do I just wait?

HR has been extremely nice and thorough with follow up to this point, so I don't doubt that I won't get a reply. I'm just super anxious and want to know what's going on.

I would assume that people's sex drive and horniness is the same as always. How does having more forms of entertainment change that?
More ways to occupy time specifically while on a computer/smart phone possibly equaling to less time streaming porn.

I'm only asking if this is how it's shaking out. I don't know for sure.

i'm in the same predicament. at this point, i'm just waiting it out and looking at other options.

I don't see the correlation between watching porn and having other forms of entertainment, particularly on digital devices. It's pretty obvious kids go outside to play less nowadays because of technology, but there is some direct correlation there.

I guess you think people only watch porn when they are horny thus you can't see the correlation?

I think a lot of folks watch porn when they are bored thus having new other entertainment options could lower the porn viewage. But your idea of it being related purely sexual drive makes sense too. Definitely would not change porn consumption if based on that alone.

Wait another day or 2 then reach out again. It shows that you’re aggressive and really want the position. You gave enough time in between before contacting so it should be good to reach out again.

I wonder if kids that grew up in the facebook/twitter/youtube/IG era (And I mean actual kids. 12ish years old or younger in 07 type stuff) spend less time on the internet looking at porn given all there is now to do on the net.

Don't get me wrong, the internet was a vast an expansive place when I was a kid as well. But you couldn't stream TV shows online (at least not as readily as you can now). You couldn't cyberhawk your favorite celebs. The internet has so many more ways to fill time now compared to 2003. I wonder if younger folks who were growing up with all this new stuff spend more time on those items as opposed to porn.
I bet a lot of them get their 'porn fix' through the thots that post videos/photos on IG, Twitter, Snap, etc.

I feel like it's easier to see girls wear barely anything than it was 10-15 years a go.

I would wait till Tuesday morning. Consider that it's Monday and they may be catching up with things that weren't completed from Friday. I know how you feel, I tend to follow up about week from the last response.

Going to take your advice, thanks fellas. While it was great to hear that feedback was 'extremely positive', it's hard not to think with each passing day & no updates, that it's not in my favor :frown: .

Just need to remind myself I wasn't the only one interviewing and that they are still considering me to potentially be their choice to this point in time.

Dont let ur emotions take over. Be professional and wait it out. You don't want them to see you calling and them rolling their eyes saying,"Him again?"

Keep it at, bro.

I'm currently working on re-writing my resume, hoping that will help present myself as a better candidate. I've even discussed with my wife of her going back to work and I would stay home to raise the kids, since her field of work is 'easier' to find an opening that pays well.

One day at a time!

That's exactly why I'm hesitant. I can appear either persistent in my interest, or an annoyance. You never know how the other side is reacting unless you're next to them.

Don't think that. You're keeping them honest in providing you an update. It shows your interest in the position.

The last job I applied for, my friend told me to keep reaching out to them because their HR team was TERRIBLE in following up or providing updates. And so I did, and received an update they weren't moving forward with me. Smh lol.

I guess people can watch it for entertainment or for educational purposes, but I doubt they make up the majority.

While we are on the topic of the younger generation, it baffles me to see so many more teenagers wearing fancy attire namely designer brand and sneakers that cost over $250(Yeezy's, Off-Whites, etc.). I assume most are borrowing from their parents or older siblings, but still it is a noticeable difference from when I was in HS over a decade ago.

I hear ya. I think I'll give the 'it's Monday' benefit of the doubt and reach out tomorrow. If not tmrw, Wednesday morning for sure.

its definitely the pacifier affect. bad parents will eventually give in to their children if they are harassed enough. parents also don't want their kids to feel left out or look "bummy". i don't like it. growing up i had to save birthday/Christmas money or get a job. i plan on doing the same to my kids. i'm not saying its Payless or bare feet, but I for damn sure will not buy my kids designer anything. i don't even buy designer stuff for myself other than a wallet or belt every few years.
