The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Yeah Roland Garros is anybody's tournament this year. Sharapova lost her invitational today also.

Wow, insane... precisely why I hate Fog so much... the guy has so much talent, but is so half-assed at effort.  Has the ability to play like he did today, but never does so consistently.  Hit a lot of great shots in the 1st to take the set.  Got a bit shaky in the 2nd, but Rafa wasn't able to capitalize.   He had his chances.  Gotta sort his mind out.

Maybe Nadal needs a new coach. Since everyone ( all the top guys, sans Murray) Rafa needs a past Champion to lead him (Moya, Vilas, or even Borg)

Perhaps that's something in the right direction... someone who can work alongside Uncle Toni.  Like how Boris & Marian are.  Someone who can, not only, offer mental advice, but some technical improvements as well.

Meanwhile, Fog losing to Andujar 6-1 3-2 right now...

Martina wasn't helping her game anyway. This has been an awful year for Aga

Props to Kai, Kerber and Caro. Excellent weeks for each of them.

It looks like Djokovic has decided to let someone else win a Masters event this year... He's skipping Madrid.

Speaking of the Djoker...

Bouchard is 15-17 since reaching the Wimbledon final (lost first match at eight of 14 tournaments). First round of Madrid and she's gone. I'm not surprised however Halep's loss did surprise me.

Well... that was quick. Thought Sloane would put up more of a fight against Serena on clay. I'll give her a pass due to the windy conditions, though.

Looks like Serena's next opponent might be Vika.

I didn't lol. I wanted to choke Navratilova for repeating "She's beaten Serena before unlike most other players on the tour.". Serena's back went out & Sloane caught a break since she couldn't run. They act like got a fluke beat down like Mugaruza or something.

World #1 the only person on the tour who can quit a match and still pull it off. Vika played the best match since her injury in my opinion. She goofed after the fault on match point and never really recovered. I still think Sascha is a traitor.

Patrick didn't want Sascha as part of the team anymore. All of the original members of Serena's team have been replaced.

He swears it was something personal between Serena & Sascha. Maybe it was for the better. They haven't lost a match since the overhaul.

It probably was for the best. Apparently Sascha has wanted to get into coaching for some time now and working with a player like Vika that is at the middle of her career is a good gig. No way Patrick is letting the gravy train stop.

I'm not a fan of Kyrgios, but that was a pretty impressive win against Fed. 2-0 against members of the Big 3. I really wanna see him play Nole now, especially since Djoker plays well on all three surfaces.

Missed the Vika/Serena match. We all know Vika is one of the few players that can hang with Serena on hard courts, but to see she was able to do it on clay...

She's playing great against both sisters this year with the addition of Sascha...

I don't know what to make of Kyrgios. He's got some growing up. But he's young, so whaterver. So long as he doesn't go all Bernard Tomic.

Vika seems to be getting more momentum. Read she's been playing better as time goes on.

I also heard Rafa is going back to his old racquet. He was testing a prototype earlier. Read he has been playing well too. RG is going to be fun this year.

I don't mind douchery as long as you're winning. Its the losing douche bag attitudes that I hate.

Dude shaves lines into his eyebrows. Difficult to be a fan of someone who does that.
