The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Momentum swing?  Rafa still hitting his groundies WAY too short.  Not gonna win matches like that.

Kei's back though.

Commentators were mentioning how he adjusted his serve motion during his last service.

When Rafa wrong-footing him on that one point couldn't have helped...

Legitimate injury though.

Aye... not looking good for Kei right now... moving gingerly... will need some time for the meds to kick in.

He has no lift on his serve... this is horrible to watch... poor Kei.

Man, that's rough.

Chris Chase is better than that. Before she won the French Open a few years ago no one was even checking for her on clay. People said her movement on dirt was like a cow on ice. How do you go from a cow on ice to being compared to the greatest clay court player of all time? Sharapova is a great player but the measures at which she is hyped doesn't correspond with her actual results . If you just started following tennis you would think she is a top 5 player of all time based on the hype. Maria is what Anna Kournikova would've been if she won a tournament.

More on "cow on ice" later...

But this Rafa/Simon match... incredible.

EDIT ~ What a match.  3h18m... Simon hit 50 winners!  Guy was on fire!  Rafa made a lot of uncharacteristic errors, but Simon was GOATing for a while... stripping the lines and stuff.

Lol I hate Sharapova but Kournikova never won anything or even got close. I hate how they make it seem like she's some never say die, fight until the last point, champion of champions type of player in every article. It really pisses me off. Fed's out of Rome already. He could have stayed at home with the babies.

The female Rafa lost on clay? Crazy, I'm shocked I say, shocked

At least she was stunningly beautiful when she lost.

Ana was too.

EDIT ~ Meanwhile, Rafa's clay-court season has been nothing short of shocking.

Masha's clay-form > Rafa's clay-form right now.

Wow... Rafa wins 12 of the final 13 games... still, would not have been pleased with how he handled that 1st set, failing to serve for it again.
