The Official NBA Season Thread: D'Lo to Nets, DFS to Lakers | HBD LeBron

I am in the camp of basketball clearly being harder now than it was on previous eras. Everything is more complex; the offense and defense schemes.

Players have to move more. The skill set of your average NBA player is exponentially higher, the skillet of the big men in particular is more diverse.

A guy like Lamelo Ball would have Bob Cousy in a blender.

Basketball has evolved like most things in life has evolved and has become better. Just like cars, just like most technology.

Jokic the only big man with post skills but this era is “more skilled” ok

Lack of CREATIVE signature shoes is also f**** up NBA. I use to watch UCONN, Arizona, Cincinnati and UNC college games for the shoes, just as much as the players!!

Same with the NBA. I’m looking for who has on the best of feetwork! Nowadays all the sigs are trash.

Shoe commercials had fans just as much in tune with the players as well. Now it’s all Kobe’s or Kobe iterations

I would also argue that the limited colorways and sigs made the ones that came out a big deal. I remember All Star colorways were extremely hyped for good reason. Now everything is a mesh of colors and there are too many options. Nobody cares about All Star releases as there's a release almost every week.

Also, Puma is giving anyone a signature shoe, Scoot had a sig before playing his first NBA game. Heck even Aaron Gordon has a sig from a chinese brand

The collector/ resale market has also ruined the shoe game as Nike seems to be catering to that audience with so many releases.

I guess I am in the minority as a fan of the NFL and NBA, I have found the product of the NFL to be declining and the NBA product improving

NBA's issue has always been the number of games and length of the season. It's longer than a school year for christ sakes. Until they shorten the season in terms of length and number of games played people will tune out until January.

Touching on the signature shoes thing. Man I’ve seen like 30 colorways of those terrible Book 1’s. Nothing is saving that shoe.

Yeah you just really dont know much about this sport if you believe that

Folks falling in love with the monotony of players walking up court and standing around while a big guy takes a hook shot will never make sense to me.

Y'all let them 80's and 90's heads run rampant for far too long. They actually believe what they be saying is true now.

I mostly agree, but I do think there is something being lost. I would like more post skill.

North american Kids look at perimeter skills as skills,
they don't look at big man skills as skills. so they don't want to learn it.

imo Wembenyama would be a better more entertaining player if he tooks some 1970's basketball lessons and shot a hook shot.

I think we can just put the argument to bed and conclude that Paul George ruined the NBA. They’re kids who actually think he’s great.

There’s a big loneliness epidemic going on that’s affecting boys and men more than women.
I put that on men and boys. Go outside, play sports. Stop sitting at home playing Fortnite and watching Kai Cenat. They’re choosing loneliness. I don’t have sympathy for that. Drugs, gambling, other addictive activities, I can understand.

Oh brother. It's going to be an aesthetic and more skilled day in the thread.

Vuc, sabonis, Jonas all got work on the block too.

DeRozan & Booker have a great face up game. SGA & Brunson can take advantages of mismatches down low.

Used to be funny when Harden would have an off night in Houston & people were saying to get the ball down low for an easy bucket. To who? PJ Tucker & Clint Capela? We don't need that.

Lamelo Ball is better than every guard from the 90's not named Michael Jordan.

Let's talk about it. Bigs from the 90's who made AS games would be unplayable in today's NBA.

Lamelo and Ja still don’t have 1-2 dribble pull up jumpers. A lot of players lack defensive skills. Some guys don’t have any post game or mid range.

Ironic, none of these guys are American.
