The Official NBA Season Thread: Happy New Years

Cap.

Kds cool. Ants going crazy. Sabrina kicks fire. Steph currents are dope. Harden last 3 been all heaters. Bron got pairs here n there.

Is it the 90s? No, but calm down. Those 3 teams you named were all Jordan schools lol. All they wore wore Nike products. Jordan and foams. That ain't variety.
Funny that out of all the names you named an Adidas shoe is getting the most play (AE1). Ain’t nobody rocking KDs, Steph’s, Bron’s, Harden’s (although innovative looking), and the only reason people look at Sabrina’s is because they’re a ripoff Kobe.

They all cheeks and headed to the outlet lol

Definitely awful for society as a whole. Especially with all of the issues men/boys in this country are already struggling with.
What are they struggling with? Gambling being so prevalent and easy to partake certainly doesn't help but I'm curious what other difficulties boys/men are dealing with.

Drugs and alcohol promoted…. But gambling:lol :lol. These young dudes just soft

Nobody batted an eye when America promoted alcohol, cigarettes, etc. whole county full of alcoholics

Blaming it on shoes now is certainly a take

If you don’t think shoes played a part in the popularity/uptick in NBA viewership, you’re wrong.

Converse had Larry and Magic for reason. Their commercials were must see. Same with Jordan and Jordan Brand of course and AI with Adidas. It definitely meant something to fans….

I remember Brons 90 million Nike deal was HEAVILY talked about. I didn’t know if he’d go with Adidas or Nike. It was a real debate.

The hype for the Zoom Generation 1 was real as well. I couldn’t wait to see what his first shoe was going to look like. It was important. Shoe marketing and the NBA went hand in hand for at least 2 decades plus

Frankly, I agree with you on the gambling part but I also grew up in a time where you had to be 18 (in my state, 21 in others) to enter a casino and sports betting was illegal (still is in my state). You had to go to Vegas or AC to bet on sports. Now you can bet on sports anytime, anywhere. I also grew up with a father who was a gambling addict so gambling has never interested me. I certainly would dabble a few times a year but the way my brain works is if I'm about to budget ~$200 on gambling, why wouldn't I just go buy a 1-2 pairs of shoes? At least I get something out of it that makes me happy.

I’m a non drinker and non smoker but I’ve always respected people and their vices. Grew up around relatives who constantly offer me drinks or a hit of the weed. It just never was of interest of mines again, I’ve ALWAYS respected people’s vices. We all have vices and mines just so happens to be gambling. I feel as though alcohol, weed, cigarettes, and other drugs have been promoted and made a priority as far as socializing is concerned, but let gambling start getting promoted and that’s where people draw the line. Again, some of us non-drinkers and non-smokers have always been respectful to people who enjoy those things, let us enjoy our parlays :lol :lol

At least in the USA it’s regulated better. When i was in HS kids 13-17 year olds would graduate with $10k debt due to bookies preying on em. I went to college with a guy who took a sem off due to people looking for him since he was in a 20k hole.

Hopefully, Ham gets another shot at a HC gig. Hard enough for a black coach to get a first chance, let alone, a second one. Seems like a good guy that was put in a tough position

Mike Brown was an assistant for 10+ years after being Bron’s coach and got the Sac job. I think Ham will follow suit. He’ll be an assistant for a the next few years then probably get an offer again
