Messing up big time...

I haven't gotten my hands on the full list but this is floating around now. I got buddies that work with the MCPON and they are trying to get the rest.

what rate are you looking for? if you go on NPC under the ECM section, u can click your community roadmap and it'll have the NOS code for your rate on the top.

Anybody have an insight on the best AF careers that translate to civilian life ? I know the obvious is anything regarding computers... but I absolutely hate the idea of sitting in front of a computer for the rest of my life. Anything else ?

The AF doesn't have apprenticeship programs like the Navy does? We have USMAP, in which you log hours in order to obtain a certification in a particular trade. The Dept of Labor issues it. I've gotten four certs through it. A lot of A&P mechs I know have used it as well. Check into that type of thing through the AF.

As an outsider, though a ship mate, I think the old rate system in the Navy was pointless except internally. When I see an Air Force Administration Clerk that's an E6. I just need to call him Tech Sergeant. I see a E4 Army cook. I just call him Specialist So and So.

Only the Coast Guard and Navy which are rooted in British Naval do that.

I don't know if the Army or Air Force have apprenticeship programs. Obviously the two Department of the Navy Services do.

I do applaud the Air Force Community College though. That's pretty cool.

Try using Air Force Community College outside of the Air Force tho.

Nada and I mean nada.

Especially when your work experience will far outshadow the associates.

I feel it is another box to check, keeping people occupied means out of trouble and bad decision mind frame.

Truly, I would like to see more colleges accepting work experience as credits especially in the military - civilian transition.

This will save money and time as the G.I. Bill provisions could be scaled back as long as there is a counterbalancing solution for the transition back to civilianship.

As far as the certs, that depends on AFSC.

The leadership panel I sat on, this was a topic I posed.

People are going to choose their jobs for themselves or after the military, not for the military.

Therefore, each AFSC should have a course of benefits that facilitates this and that should ease the imbalance of AFSC preferences and retraining, subsequently minimizing the need of bonuses and stop-loss which will save money and preserve morale without individuals feeling short handed.

For instance, a services airman should not be leaving the air force feeling like they have to reestablish themselves scholastically since they wanted to pass out basketballs for their country. A path where coaching or sports management credit qualifications can be outlined so that people will have value added positions in and out of the military.

Now you have morale, development, and a future.

They don't hear me tho.

air force cats tell me about tacp... i tried out couple years ago murked the pt test.... what did I miss out on?

Air Force Special Forces.

Army::Rangers

Air Force::TACP
pretty much in a nutshell just seeing if anyone had any inside info.....

I know as a ROMAD or whatever you get deployed a lot..... I dont know if my wife would be down for that

Battlefield Airmen:

TACP - Control Close Air Support Assets (Bomb Droppers) most for conven Army units..Some go to the Special Tactics Sq and attached to Rangers, Seals, SF etc...

CCT - Certified Air Traffic Controllers, Control Close Air Support Assets, Attach to SEALS, SF, Rangers, have the same training i.e Freefall, Dive, etc...

PJ - Combat Paramedics spend most time doing Combat Search and Rescue, Downed pilots, Space shuttle extraction, medical evacs.. Some go to Special Tactics Squadrons and attach to SEALs, SF, Ranger..

SOWT - Combat Weatherman... Same training as CCT minus Air Traffic Control, and CAS...work in the Special Tactics Sq....They do more shooting than weather reports

warrant for the Army correct? AF doesn't have a W program..

Yeah its all about attention to detail..if they say pack 10 pairs of socks..you better have all 10 pairs or you ll be PT'ing for hours..

They want to ensure you can follow directions (Basic training effect) before they allow you to actually control multi million dollar weapon systems on the battelfied.

..Its more mental than anything, no one can physically endure a suck fest for hours without breaking down somewhat, we're not machines but they want to see who can push past failure and has the willpower to continue and not quit. Most folks who trained properly wash out due to academics or making bad designs during off time (i.e drinking, fihgting, etc etc..)
