The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

Yes yall.

Recently updated to  OS X Yosemite.

Now my magic mouse has gone haywire, super sensitive!

Every time I scroll up and down, I end up side swiping. I've had to disable the sideswipe function.

Anyone else had the same issue?

I always suggest people do that before dropping a boatload on a new machine. I know you want the newest, but I'm definitely a pragmatist when it comes to Apple hardware. The soonest I've changed from one to another was with my first PowerBook and that's only because they'd switched architectures from PPC to Intel and I knew eventually they'd stop supporting it altogether.
True, I'm the same way. My "reason" to justify buying a new Mac is that my iMac is sitting on top of a curio cabinet and not an actual desk. I probably will just max out the RAM because I enjoy the 27" screen.

I'm still using a late 2008 15" MPB pretty maxed out. Running Mavericks. Already have 8GB of ram. Only thing I haven't done is put in an SSD.

I'm looking to either grab an iMac or a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" [non]retina depending on specs.

Go to system preference and see if any settings changed(?) my only guess

Picked up an mbpro this morning, 13", core i5, 8gb ram and 256GB for a friend. Man, I totally want one myself now!

Running on a early 2008 black macbook at the moment, but definitely in need of an upgrade soon. This thing has been through battles with me :lol

I need to run a lot of design software on my computer (ie. CAD, Solidworks, Rhino, Adobe Suite, etc.) and Im really looking to partition the hard drive on my next mac to run windows as well, but im wondering if it is better to just buy the MB Pro now or keep my 08 and buy a cheaper PC (and just load up all the design programs on it) to hold me over till the next wave of macbooks come out in the fall.

I have no problem getting the refreshed MB pro today as it would do everything I need i to, but I kinda wanna see where (or rather, how well) this USB-C trend goes with this upcoming macbook release before I invest $1500 in another computer again, thus my inclination to wait a bit. Thoughts?

I'm also hesitant on the USB-C, but beyond that, if you're heavy into design software, why are you even considering this new MB?

Why not get the Retina MBP?

Anyone try out the demo version of Office 16 for mac?

Wondering if I should go with the 2011 version or wait it out.

I've been using it. As a student it's not terrible, but if you use word or excel heavy then they have a decent amount of bugs/lag. At least that has been my experience so far.

Second time in 4 years my charger has frayed and become unusable. If there was one complaint I had, it would be these damn chargers.

I see a bunch of preventative homemade solutions now that I'm googling it. Too little too late. Damn it, got to go to the Apple store tomorrow to buy a new one.

Do this before it happens to you

Have a MBP from 2012 that's in great condition I'm completely over
I'd much rather have a iMac and use my iPad mini
while out than carry around this computer everywhere.....
That new gold MB very fresh though

got a early 2011 macbook pro here and of course the video card was shot and had to be fixed asap by apple for a cool 330 including tax... had this fixed during christmas and has been working good since... this model in particular is known to be defective so it wasnt just me facing this problem... i didnt like that i had to pay to get it fixed BUT i rather do this then buy a completely new macbook... of course apple knew this was a problem and emailed me and everyone else who had this problem and offered a free fix or a refund to those who already payed for the service... so of course apple the classy company they are reimbursed me and cut me a check for 330 for the fix i had to pay for last year... just want to say Thank You to apple and the great customer service they provide... although i had a problem with my mac they fixed it free and it was because it was defective and not because the computer failed or had a virus... mind you i watch pr0n a lot and never got a virus... so i will continue to support mac and never go back to pc :hat

Did this trick day 1 on my power cord and it has held up for 3 years without even a slight fray.

I see a lot of people were trying to get rid of there mac pros, what price yall sell for or going to sell them for?

Has everyone upgraded to yosemite or are some of yall still on leopard or lion. Seen that yosemite does not allow you to do certain things like you could on the older versions.

Yo NT would you guys trade your 15" mid-2011 MBP i7 for an 2012 13" MBA i5?

I kind of want the portability and battery life. Not sure if the power is worth the trade off?

Im still runnning on Maverick, wasn't a fan of Lion to Maverick so I see no reason to upgrade to Yosemite
