Ok. I'll bite.. Only to put you straight, on everything you was wrong about.
This "knowledge" I already knew, no research was needed on my part, you see as I have been purchasing jewelery for a number of years now, I always do my homework before I spend my money, I like to know what I am talking about and what I am doing before I negotiate a deal, put my hand in my pocket and spend my money.
This is a good general rule of thumb for conducting business.
I merely copied and pasted the statistics to drive my point forward and to inform the un informed.
Not good enough, for "your" ? You mean myself, no I would not say that. I would say if I'm going to market to buy gold, I shall buy gold, not non precious metal alloys.
I speak for myself and myself only, no one else. What you do is your business, sir.
Live and let live, yes. This is exactly what I meant.
Another man wearing alloy jewelery doesn't affect my life, if you are happy to do so, do you.
Are you confused? Your asking me, are you confused? indeed I think so.
I seem confused? How so? No, sir. I am rarely confused.
I tend think a lot more than I speak, your negative assumptions and opinions mean nothing to me, they are complely invalid, it doesn't effect my life, I do not care about you.
Another man is worth less than myself? Because of what he owns? Or how much he has? Where did I say this? Please quote me where I wrote these words.
True wealth comes from within, your true wealth is who you are as a person, your morals, principals, loyalties and integrity, vision, your strength of character etc. This can neither be bought nor sold, I do not measure a man by his material objects. I judge a man on who he is, how he conducts himself and how he treats me, not by how much gold he has.
What do I deem acceptable for another man to wear in my presence? Is this your question? hmm.. I don't deem anything acceptable nor unacceptable
It's none of my business if people want to wear 10 carat gold, this is fine, what right do I have to say what's acceptable for another man to wear? No right, and I don't believe I do, nor do I care.
Did you even read my post fully before you structured yours?
From reading your response, I will make an assumption as did you and say no, so let me clarify for you, again..
Shouldn't I only settle for 24 carat gold? Yes, if I buy a kilo of gold, it has to be pure, 24 carat gold bullion. Jewelery now this is a completely different matter all together, there are other factors you have to consider 24 carat gold for jewelery purposes, this would be a juvenile error, you see 24 carat gold is too soft, it is very vulnerable to wear and damage from daily use.
Adding other non precious metal alloys to strengthen/harden the gold is essential overall adding to the durability of the gold, this makes sense. A whole lot of sense, this was never my argument, In my post I stated "Unalduturated within reason" that must of gone over your head, also Alloys must also be added to change the golds hue and color, like my watch for example in 18 carat rose gold this is done by adding copper to the mix, I have no problem with this, this I support.
A elaboration on this..
Although the names are often used interchangeably, the difference between red, rose, and pink gold is the copper content: the higher the copper content, the stronger the red coloration. Pink gold uses the least copper, followed by rose gold, with red gold having the highest copper content. Examples of the common alloys for 18K rose gold, 18K red gold, and 18K pink gold:
18K Red gold: 75% gold, 25% copper
18K Rose gold: 75% gold, 22.25% copper, 2.75% silver
18K Pink gold: 75% gold, 20% copper, 5% silver
12K Red gold: 50% gold and 50% copper.[2]
Up to 15% zinc can be added to copper-rich alloys to change their color to reddish yellow or dark yellow.
My problem is when you get manufacturers and jewelers that mix and stretch the gold to the point where there is so little gold content in the actual "gold" it's just alloy adulterants and a little bit of gold for color. It's a scam still calling it gold. Legal or not. Something is wrong. This is only done for greed and profits, ultimately creating a product that at its heart/core is not really what it pretends to be.
The majority of consumers are spending their hard earned $$$ on this imitation in ignorance of what they are actually getting, value for their money, they are being took. Anybody that is informed of what 9 carat and lower carats actually consist of, knowing what it actually contains in gold content versus non precious metal alloy and still decides to purchases it, is beyond me. That being said if people are informed of this and they are still happy to buy into it, great, good for them, i suppose, again I dont care.
You get what you pay for, and everybody is out to make a profit.
A metaphor to help you grasp it so we don't end up going over old ground, if I sold you breakfast, advertised to you, as your favourite bowl of crunchy cereal with milk, and you decide to purchase it, when you recieve your order..
You recieve, A bowl full of that cheap skimmed milk, with maybe 4-5 morsels of cereal floating around in the milk, served with a dirty spoon.
What have you got there?
A nice big bowl of your favourite, yummy, fresh and crunchy cereal with full fat milk or have you got a bowl of watery skimmed milk with a few morsels of soggy cereal floating in the mix?
It's not what it's meant to be, it is not what it's pretending to be. It's not real and I don't Buy into it.
This is my point.
Who said about investments? Not me, If you are purchasing jewelry to invest your money into, you have got a lot of learning to do, that's just plain bad business, You already missed the gold boom. It peaked, it crashed. No one is making money off of buying into jewelery, it is not even a good storage of wealth anymore. it lost 40% of its value over the last year alone. it's merely a luxury commodity, something you choose to indulge in with disposable income.
Elitist?
Ok Bert. Your points are invalid and your reaching. |I
Now, with that taken care of, May I be so bold as to pose a question or two back in your direction, sir.
Would you like some GOLD to go with those alloys your purchasing?
And
May I please have some tasty fries to go with that salt your serving?
I answered all your questions and I hope you are no longer confused, because I'm through wasting my time with you.
