Depends on where you are going but Florence and Vicenza are good places to look. Just remember, right off the bat they will get you for a 22% VAT tax on a purchase over $150 but you will get that back. Most everything you will find over there is also 18k so prices will be reflective of that. Have a basic idea of what gold is trading for and what you want to pay per gram. If you can communicate to them that you know what you are talking about (understanding labor costs and price per gram) they will usually negotiate.

With gold where it is at and Italian gold making being some what of standard don't expect smoking deals.

I lived in Sicily for a few years and the prices were relatively close/the same as back home (U.S.)... I will say, I did find a few decent prices in Catania, as it's more of a working city and lots going on.
I traveled the island a lot in the few years I was there, the touristy areas were more on the expensive side, like Taormina, Palermo, etc.. I did pick up a chain and bracelet when I visited a city called Lentini, on the south east part of Sicily.
Rome, Naples & Milan were about average priced, no crazy deals that I saw.
My .02

Looking to buy a chain for a pendant i have but I'm kinda torn on how heavy it should be, the pendant is 45 grams and the previous chain it was on was a 98 gram 6mm 22" rope and the size was getting annoying after having it as a daily. I want to do a 4mm rounded box link at 54 grams but I'm worried the pendant might stretch the chain or break it. Just looking for some input here befor I drop 7 or 8k and potentially regret it.

Question - on a cuban combo should the bracelet be the same size as the chain? Bigger? Smaller? Wht yall think?

I'm planning on purchasing a rope chain from Jacoje to layer with a 18K 2.5MM Franco chain. I watched Jacoje's video in Youtube and he says that there's only a subtle difference between his 14K and 18K gold rope chains, and you can't really tell from a far.

Should I just cop the 18K 3MM rope chain or the 14K 4MM rope chain? All my other jewelry are 18K and I just don't want it to look off when I'm wearing it together.

I have a question for you fellas. What's the highest purity of gold that you would wear?
All of mine's in 18k and judging by how my rings look from daily wear, I imagine anything higher would probably be littered with scratches over time if you wear it that much.
At least with the 18k white gold you can just refresh the rhodium coating and make it look brand new. And my jeweler does it for free as part of regular servicing/polishing.
I don't really notice a significant difference between 14k and 18k unless you really examine it up close. There's a noticeable difference between 18k and 24 though, just depends on how dark you want your gold to look I suppose.

Speaking of my local jeweler, I went to get my setup polished earlier this month and someone came in to pick up a "purple gold" custom ring with a pink sapphire. Might've been a pink ruby, idk. I wasn't eavesdropping on the entire conversation but from what I could tell from afar, the gemstone looked similar to my pink sapphire in color.
Had no idea 'purple gold' was even a thing.
I didn't wanna intrude on the guy so I asked the jeweler about this supposed purple gold after he left, apparently it's a mix of gold and aluminum and took "a lot of time and trial and error" to perfect a mix. Apparently in their 120something years of business, no one had ever asked for purple gold. He said he's been asked to make custom blue gold pieces a handful of times but apparently that's not as troublesome to make due to the materials required.

Definitely appreciate your response. I think the highest I would go in yellow gold is 22k but like you said it would probably be beyond scratched if you wore it daily.

I'm still on the fence about the 18K because like you said it's very subtle but it is more gold . I think if I were to do white gold I would do 14k tho.

Wow I've heard of purple gold. That's an interesting concept.

Where would y'all go to get a lock swapped out on a chain? Looking to get either a sleek lock or a larger teardrop style lobster clasp for one of my chains. Would a local jeweler be perfectly capable? Don't really feel like shipping it off.

Unless you’re in MIA, i dont know many places you can get a great deal for a custom lock. Best bet is to reach out to maxair59 maxair59 . I’ve sent him pieces to customize and gets it overnight shipped back to me
