The Official Black Mirror Thread: Season 6 on Netflix Now

Accurate depiction, I think Karl has predatory intentions like you said. I mean the dude duffed a polar bear, he has issues. Danny has low self esteem which keeps him from pursuing a new shawty to smang as he isn't his old self.

Right, Karl a wild boy.

I wouldn't say Danny had low self-esteem, more so wants to smang but stays commited, almost begrudgingly. Maybe because it all became too routine. They were at the point where they were basically scheduling sex, that's always a no-go. I think they both lost the passion and desire needed in a relationship. Both needs were met with their agreement shown at the end.

I can't tell if that was a happy or sad ending honestly.

That episode would have a much better reception if it was a dude and girl playing the game. The gay aspect it what made people uncomfortable imo.

But again, you're only uncomfortable because of the 'gay' aspect. You have to ask yourself, if that technology is created and used in a fighting game or any video game for that matter, what's the player base going to be? It certainly ain't 50/50. Hell, I'd be surprised if it was a 65/35 split in gender demographics

Plus we already had San Junipero, what's the difference?

Again it's only uncomfortable because of plausibility. Does it make it different if he met a random person and did the same only to find out it was a dude? We don't get the 'Is it gay?' discussion without them framing it the way they did.

I think it may be more uncomfortable that son was plotting on that wifi meat :rollin . The average gaming demographics are already close to those numbers, with VR and all that technology stuff growing I think "Striking Vipers" can be a potentially foreseeable future for the world.

Season 5 is better than season 1,2, and 3 Season 4 is some quality television though

Since i entered the show kinda knowing what was going on i peeped certain clues from Danny before the plot twist. He started playfully humping on ol boy when they were roommates. Also the fact that 'rodman' caught his attention in the restaurant.

I liked this season. The ending of episode 2 felt underwhelming though. Glad to see Foreman getting work, but his acting is the same for every role lol

I can't believe they dished out this BS based on the earlier material they made

they shoulda done eps on people behind the tech like the asian guy from plsytest, the cookie and tckr

That was the entire point. That it was two dudes. Who werent actively gay curious in the real world. They had to question their sexuality after committing the act. It changed them in the real world the same way sex/porn/video game addiction would change them.

If it was just a guy and girl then the entire ep is just we're having an affair, the glaring question of why not in the real world?(only reason being it's safe, cant get caught, etc.) just have sex irl and skip the game, and maybe video game sex is way better than physical sex.

Not much conflict otherwise.

Any reason why they had to be black though, why couldn't it be two white guys, or two Asian guys?

Just curious it anyone thinks the episode wouldn't of been the same with two white guys?

It'd be the same.

I dont think it had to be black guys. They just cast it that way.

but doesnt it kinda defeat the purpose if dude is gonna pick a girl character?

like clarence just got a thing for asian chicks

the other dude is the one into street fighters

I'm pretty sure it works no matter the demographics of Danny and Karl. Hell, they don't even have to be the same race really.

I think that's the point tho. To add ambiguity to the entire thing. BM does a great job of adding layer an nuance to their episodes. Creating multiple ethical & personal questions about subject that aren't necessarily mutually related at all.

If he had picked a dude character, then we won't question whether or not the act is 'gay'. We'd just question whether it's actually infidelity and the moral issues with leaving the character's junk for the in-game release even tho they very well could have disabled that feature.

maybe they picked black guys because they knew folks would flip out about like gay black men don't exist
But it isn't so taboo anymore, I just feel like it is pushing an agenda. Don't mind me.

I don't agree. But I see your point. The one episode that has obvious undertones, happens to be the one starring two black men.

But if it wasn't taboo there would be agenda to push
This is just me talking no numbers to back it up but I think the number of gay black men is at an all time. Meaning it isn't taboo anymore, also in saying that I "feel like" again no numbers like we are seeing more gay black men on TV versus any other race. I don't have actual facts, and don't watch as much TV as some. However when was the last time we saw a gay Spanish man in a movie/TV show, or Italian.

It could just be recency bias but the last gay Italian guy I remember is Vito from The Sopranos. I have been watching a lot of old Sopranos clips on YouTube.
