The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

First Fedor now Cain

Doom has elevated himself to gawd status

He also destroyed the UFC's Mexican expansion before it could get off the ground. :lol

Also believe it has some to do with his strength n conditioning program he's doing now. He was doing heavy lifting and that is detrimental to his style. Couple that with the altitude and layoff and cardio Cain turns into can't catch my breath cain
exactly, Cain and AKA is still on that caveman camp. IMO Rockhold is the only one in that camp who can become a dominant champ. Cain has some serious decisions to make on his preparation because it's detrimental. No comment on DC for the moment because we all know how awkward that division became.

Meaning what? He commentates in Español for em and headlined both cards....

I'm alluding to the fact the UFC was trying to push Cain as the "First Mexican HW Champ"

Doom is great for their Mexican market. But Cain, from a marketing perspective would have been 10x better

I don't understand how being under Cordeiro explains his striking. Cordeiro was irrelevent for almost 10 years after chute boxe split, and now he is a magician? I don't get it. Cordeiro was NEVER known for being a technical coach, but instead, he was known for his violent, balls to the wall reckless style of striking ie wand, shogun, ninja, cyborg, etc.

and a lot of what that Carson dude said seems like dogma bs. I am awaiting Steve Maxwell's response to everything that dude talked about. That's one S&C coach that is revered in all sports.

RDA is from the same BJJ lineage as me(GORDO BJJ), and I know first hand how much PED abuse goes on in that BJJ circle.

Anderson Wanderlei and Shogun were Chute Box guys. Anderson was as good as it gets technically and Wanderlei and Shogun were above average as well. I guess the combination of aggressiveness and technique he teaches works for the right kind of fighters. And I can definitely seeing it work in the heavyweight division where they all pretty much suck technically anyway.

Well it's not like Cordeiro was a fighter, he's a trainer. It's all up to the fighter to execute the technique. Werdum wasn't known for his standup, but now it has become a threat ever since training with Cordeiro. It'll be interesting to see a rematch with JDS, which will be different this time around (i'll still be pulling for my boy JDS). However, I do wanna see an immediate rematch with Cain because i don't think it was smart to schedule a HW fight in altitude

. Let's see these boys run it again in Vegas or something. It was rumored that they'll avoid HW fights in Colorado because of that specific reason, but defending your belt in your country seems like the new trend for international fighters.

btw not trying to throw shade at Cordeiro. Rafael Cordeiro is an awesome guy. Met him a bunch of times in Vegas, and the guy is really, really nice.

Maybe he figured out that throwing straight punches does work.

Dos an jos and bj penn prove that what the Marinovichs use is very effective for combat athletes.

Anderson was never real Chute Boxe. He wanted to be Pele, so he went wherever Pele went.

And it's not just werdum he turned rda into a solid striker and when shogun worked with him for a few fights recently he looked good.
Also Dariush as well

Damn b not at all what most were expecting. Wasn't it in one of those vlog eps where Cains coach/trainer told him he had to train in Mexico to get used to the altitude and Cain was holding off on it? Smh

No doubt, I truly believe in what they do for combat athletes. The whole emphasis on footwork and fast twitch drills and exercises makes a whole lot of sense for combat fighters.

What the Marinovichs did with BJ was amazing. Dude was at his best when he was with them.

If he stayed with it who knows what he could have done smh. Dude was so talented and skilled it always came down to being in shape and they had that boy firing on all cylinders

Man tell me bout it...nothing like knowing ur fave fighter has the potential to be the best but doesn't put in the hard work. All the talent but no dedication

I hated watching Cain get worked like that but I'm also happy to see Werdum as champ. He's improved in each of his fights and can possibly hold the belt for a while. I'd like to see him get a rematch with JDS or maybe do a super fight with DC.

Maybe it's just me, but what I saw is a guy that won the first round and was completely gassed by the second. Cain and Javier completely underestimated the altititude, and I was worried from the jump after watching embedded and hearing Cain say he was only there for 2 weeks. Total credit to the Champ, but I also blame the other side for not preparing intelligently.
