The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

The man literally got folded like a lawn chair his last fight, which was 2 years ago and hasn't won for longer than that.

Him being the UFC HW GOAT is already debatable, but no way in hell is he ahead of Fedor.

Jones beats Stipe and it’s a wrap.

The best decision would be to retire, sunset ride and enjoy being the GOAT of one of the few sports where that status is owned and not really argued about. Especially at that point.
Best decision he can make is beat Stipe and retire. He’ll go down as the MMA GOAT. Only one lost from a disqualification in a fight he was winning. And a no contest in his savage KO of DC. Izzy can’t beat him without a flash KO or doing the same camp as Volk in preparation for Islam (mind you Volk is a wrestling national champion). And he’s asking for trouble waiting around for a healthy Tom Aspinal or winner of Blaydes/Pavlovich.
I missed This live
I heard him dispel he was a cheater. That looked pretty close to a nut shot.

Listening to the Co-Main Event Podcast. One of the first questions is this low blow. It sounds like everyone is ignoring the illegal move. And how you can’t appeal it becuz this is MMA.

If Jon beats Stipe, that’s pretty much it. He’s beaten the entire fight game on hard mode.

The only thing left for him (if he wants) would be to achieve simultaneous double champ status…

I did hear DC take a dig at him saying that’s one thing he did that Jones never has.

He could beat stipe and drop down to LHW and try to recapture the belt and ride off into the sunset as a double champ….

Or just ride off into the sunset after stipe…either way his legacy is secured.

Don’t think Izzy wants that fight anymore AT ALL.

No need to fight any of the contenders like Blaydes or Pavlovich, they do nothing for him.

If Jones defended the heavyweight title multiple times and in a dream scenario went back down to 205 to potentially fight jiri who would be holding the belt, take all my money for that scenario.

Ya acting like he’s playing with House Money. He’ll be 36 right after International Fight Week. We still don’t know if he wasn’t declining in the last two fights at LHW. Or missing probably five years+ due to suspensions or moving up in weight.

He needs to pull a GSP after beating Stipe.

Also note that Jones weighed in near 250 on Friday. I'd say almost no chance he ever gets under 220 at this age.

Agreed. Seems he patiently built up his physique for this weight class for the long haul. As much as I like Jiri he is not even close to worth losing 30 pounds of hard-earned gains for and doesn’t move the need at all for Jones’s legacy.

LHW? It's better for Jon's legacy to fight Cyril and Stipe. Stipe is a bigger name than anyone at LHW. Jamahl Hill? Jiří Procházka? Jan Błachowicz? UFC has a promotion problem right now. There is no incentive to promote fighters under the ESPN deal. So its high risk, low reward for Jon to lose weight and fight a possible no name at LHW

Hate that the ufc doesn’t do a better job promoting because they have such a cake deal with ESPN

Miss the days of big press conferences with all the fighters to push multiple cards

Zero hype. It's not 2016 no mo.

They were literally on fire. Product was good. It wasn't stepped on like now with the weekly APEX cards.

This week's card isn't bad. But ish isn't breathing. Just constant bombardment with random create a players.

Yan/Merab is a pretty big fight but I had no idea it was happening this weekend until I checked my betting app

I found out Sunday/Monday. Plus there's a Bellator card (which Vince mentioned). Bellator is incompetent but UFC is just a Chinese Assembly Line right now. Not to say they're not making money hand over fist. But there is no incentive for those 1 Million buy PPVs or high TV ratings for a Fox card.

And the names aren't big anymore. Not everyone can be Conor but we all know TUF era, they had dozens of names.

They have the terribly promoted UFC Destined / UFC Journey (for some reason they use both names interchangeably) show on ESPN+ which is like UFC Primetime lite but is very well produced. They did one for Neal/Rakhmonov last week that I've been meaning to check out, these come in two episodes with one released on fight week and the 2nd one like Weds/Thurs after the fight. The 2nd part is cool as they show the highs and lows from both winner and loser post fight. They try to give some shine to a fight night main event or maybe the 2nd-3rd fight of a PPV but thing is you never know who's gonna be featured until the first part airs smh.

kron is byke, Damb nice. Think he got beaten up pretty bad against cub

Cool to see him try to have another go at it. He has heart
