The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I admittedly do not like Jones, but I feel like this performance is being vastly overrated. Gane has terrible wrestling and submission defense, so game planning was pretty straightforward for this fight.

Given how awful Jones looked in his last fights at LHW, I got my reservations with rating him highly until he faces somebody with basic defensive wrestling at the very least.

Jon can only fight who they line up for him.

I separate the man from the athlete. Jon is a reprehensible human when not in the cage. A hedonistic narcissist.

But can’t really get upset at him for who they put in front of him. He wanted to fight Francis. They have tweets exchanged online. His only issue was the pay. He was ready to fight Stipe in December. The HW GOAT opted not to fight him for undisclosed reasons. Cyril is still the #2 HW, wrestling or no wrestling. Besides the winner of Blaydes/Pavlovich (sp), there really aren’t a whole lot of credible, competitive options.

Timing is everything

Hopefully Jones fights Francis next... I'm going with Jones winning that 1 though

Terrible fight lol. Jon didn't have to work at all but that's credit to him

Gane had the benefit of facing non wrestlers but you can't deny he is one of the best in the world, even with relatively little MMA experience

It sucks that the ones left are an old/worn Stipe and Blaydes, who zero people care about. With that said, if Jones beats both that's still utterly impressive

It's funny how he moved up when the HW division is weak (planned or not on his part). Not saying he wouldn't be able to beat the LHW's but even with them being down, those dudes would probably offer something a lil more intriguing

Also, it's only a matter of time for Rahkmanov. I think he can take both Edwards and Usman. Colby would be fun. Belal too

Dude is just different

It would be cruel if we never get a Rahkmanov v Chimaev fight

Nobody wants to see Stipe in there with him. Dude got KO bad his last fight and hasn't fought in 2 years. But Jon asking for him next pretty much shows that he's just here for a short time.

Happy as hell for Grasso. Coming over from Invicta she had high expectations and this run she's on has exceeded them. She was in that fight all night and jumped on that back immediately off that whiff.

Just like the picture of Valentinas chin from the choke, that pic of Neal getting choked by Shavkat is ice cold. You know hes cold blooded when he ain't care for his mouthpiece still trading punches in the pocket.

Unfortunately I don't think we get that Chimaev fight anytime soon. All signs point to Chimaev fighting at MW next.

It sucks that the MW division is lackluster

Alex might go to 205 and izzy is in a weird place now in his career

Outside of them the division is meh because as much as we all like whittaker he’s unfortunately become a benavidez type

And then after that it’s just very very meh

Chimaev going there doesn’t excite me at all even if he happens to fight Alex or izzy

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if hes only made 171 once, against Burns. All his other WW fights were in Abu Dhabi where the UFC is pretty much their own commission there.

Great point. It’s wild to think about that

Maybe we get rahkmanov at 185 later too for a super fight

We can only hope. That fight is too damn good to never come together. The good thing is both these guys are young as hell. So we can get this fight 2-3 years from now and both these guys will still be in their physical prime.

Unfortunately I too don’t think khamzat ever comes back to 170. It would be tragic if we never get a rahkmanov/khamzat fight while they’re still undefeated for a title. Idc the weight class, that’s a super fight and needs a belt and undefeated records attached to it.

Think Nickal gonna run through that joint.
