The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Watched the card. Definitely want to see Shavkat and Bo next fights. Gamrot be putting me to sleep.

I didn’t quite understand what happened at the end of Jones/Gain. Didn’t really get a good look at Jon. Cyril probably need to leave the gym like Francis. All of Ferdinand’s guys can’t wrestle or defend against it.

And was happy for cutie Grasso. I think Valentina has decent odds in the rematch. Low key, Erin Blanchfield (sp) probably got next in that division. Unless Tatianna Suarez is staying there. Glad Mexican MMA is low key blowing up right now.

idk if I’ve mentioned this before but with all the disrespect in the world: why in the hell is mma media pushing teddy f’n atlas so damb hard?

Why the duck should we give a rats *** about his mma opinions

Every major mma outlet trips over themselves to get his thoughts and it’s mind numbing

First issue is MMA media. It sucks besides Aaron Bronstetter, Luke Thomas, or Ariel Helwani.

With all due respect to Tony Atlas, he was an accomplished boxing trainer and pundit. But this ain’t apples and oranges. It’s wild more folks don’t feature Firas or Ray Longo. There are great MMA minds. DC, Henry Cejudo, Chael, Bisping, etc have tried to build their brands/channels. I doubt they’d turn requests from these outlets.

I get why espn features atlas for their mma coverage, that’s fine. That actually makes sense to a certain degree

But Maclife, mmafighting, submission radio etc prominently feature him front and center like he’s some kind of important figure in the sport. Uncalled for

Is that Aljo/Cejudo? I'm pretty sure that was likely to be New Jersey.

Maybe Canelo not fighting in Vegas for Cinco de Mayo is making Dana try to pull something last minute ****.

Something, something, MMA Media. Not like there are real MMA analysts out there. Never mind DC (who is also on ESPN), Dominic Cruz, Michael Bisping, Anthony Smith, Allan Joban, Dean Smith, etc. The first three former champs lol.
Still no location for the May card ppv and we’re under 8 weeks away now
Seent Prudential Center, New Jersey for the May PPV.

Watched the card last night and can't believe Gane just completely shhh the bed in the fight. I'll give Bones his props for getting the quick sub but yea I really expected more and was surprised he got the takedown so easily.

Good to see Grasso get the dub, that transition off the missed kick from Valentina was very impressive. I'm almost positive they run that one back just off the run Valentina had in the division. I'm also not a fan of all these immediate rematches but is what it is. They could matchup Blanchfield and Santos or maybe make Fiorot vs Blanchfield for #1 contender.

Just seen it’s in New Jersey. Guess ufc thinks having it close to sterling backyard gonna help sell the card.

At this point, he's playing Russian Roulette. I think he should retire after beating Stipe. I could see him possibly facing the winner of Blaydes/Pavlovich but both of those guys are still in their prime. P got that KO power. And Blaydes has decent power and could possibly negate the wrestling (I think Jon is a better wrestler).

He's 35 years old now. He's got a lot of MMA mileage plus father time is undefeated. He really doesn't have anything to prove. He's already cemented his name as one of the P4P fighters of all time (some might argue GSP becuz of the lack of drug controversies and suspensions).

If JJ beats Stipe then I'm not really sure where he goes from there. He's def not chomping at the bit to fight the likes of Blaydes or Pavlovich. Could def see him retiring or the outside chance Francis gets a boxing match by this summer and they somehow re-sign him (not holding my breath on that at all lol). Outside of Stipe no one at HW really has name value at this time and it seems Jones is only in it for fun fights at this time.

Has UFC tickets always been that damn expensive? Looking at going to Miami for Izzy Alex 2 and the cheapest tickets are outrageous.
I was at Rousey Holm in Melbourne and I remember it being like $80 after fees

Yeah - it’s unfortunate, prices out so many people

At least when I’ve looked, it’s always been expensive in the states. A few hundred for nose bleeds. And thousands for better. But I’ve honestly only looked the last few years.

It’s actually not bad in Miami. $700 for 100 level seats ain’t bad. Especially to see a home town guy like Masvidal.

If Jon beats Stipe, that’s pretty much it. He’s beaten the entire fight game on hard mode.

The only thing left for him (if he wants) would be to achieve simultaneous double champ status…

I did hear DC take a dig at him saying that’s one thing he did that Jones never has.

He could beat stipe and drop down to LHW and try to recapture the belt and ride off into the sunset as a double champ….

Or just ride off into the sunset after stipe…either way his legacy is secured.

Don’t think Izzy wants that fight anymore AT ALL.

No need to fight any of the contenders like Blaydes or Pavlovich, they do nothing for him.

If izzy would have pulled off the decision win over Alex and then beat him again the Jones fight would have been viable

Damb shame

Izzy was so close to stopping Alex many times in both sports

Jones would have most likely controlled or mauled him tho

Ship has sailed on the Izzy-Jones fight and while it's not the missed opportunity like a GSP-Silva or JJ-Francis (most likely but hey stranger things have happened) it still would have been a huge fight 1-2 years ago. Probably would have had the most steam after the Costa KO.

Jones beats Stipe and it’s a wrap.

The best decision would be to retire, sunset ride and enjoy being the GOAT of one of the few sports where that status is owned and not really argued about. Especially at that point.

The crap part about the Jones stipe fight is that it’s not really that hype

Just being honest

It’s obviously still a huge feather for Jones but stipe ain’t some kind of boogie man

I wish there was a hype matchup out there

Stipe being billed as the goat hw- I mean that may very well be true but he’s old and worn. He def ain’t near his prime and got absolutely destroyed by Francis in his last fight

I don’t see the excitement for that matchup personally. 5 years ago, for sure
