I totally agree that the UFC doesn't do a adequate job marketing a number of their fightersI feel bad for him but it's partially the UFC. Like I've said before, they don't do a great enough job promoting/marketing their stars.
Most pro sports benefit from getting constant exposure though weekly/daily schedules shine, Fantasy leagues, 24/7 news cycle, ads, etc.
It's just not there for UFC fighters. Besides GSP, Brock, Tito and Randy, who were the biggest UFC stars? They make it so niche, instead focusing on the promotion, concept of fight nights instead of making a bigger deal out of the fighters and match ups.
I watched that HBO special for Mayweather/Paqiou (sp) and was hyped. Then we have all the main stream media coverage, etc.
The last fight kind of close to that was JBJ/DC. Connor/Aldo has a chance. Hopefully, there are commercials, a GREAT preview show and heavy media coverage.
Mighty Mouse doesn't have the swag of GSP or the mouth of a Sonnen/McGregor so UFC should be doing a better job of promoting his great fighting skills and resume'. They should've cancelled 186 after the Rampage issue and threw the title fight on the Fox card.
What other matches in recent history has boxing promoted to make us care, to add to your pointYou can compare. Obviously not the same magnitude or importance to Boxing History. What are Money Mayweather, Bob Arum, Don King, etc but promoters selling these big boxing spectacles.
UFC just seems so low key about their cards and fighters.
You've got Jon Jones, Rhonda Rhousey, etc. Sell them. I get the importance of the "UFC Event" but the only importance is that with UFC you're getting the most elite fighters/athletes but the focus should be around the marquee fight not UFC 212 or whatever number.
Compared to before? Yeah, it has. Its irrefutable.^ Boxing is definitely NOT in a decline right now. Far from it.
GSP had "swag"?

GSP had swag all the way until he opened his mouth
Dude was a square but i think people loved his image and brand of excellence.
