The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

202 >>>> 200 for me personally...

Only really interested in the Aldo and Jones fights, the others will be entertaining no doubt but...I wouldnt be mad if I didnt see them...

202 though...condit, rumble, diaz, mcgregor, cowboy, magny, no love all have my peak interest.

My thoughts exactly. 202 I'm either buying or hitting the bar for sure

Asked this before but I'm finally going to start. Local BJJ academy has a special for $30 for the first month.

Anything I should know before starting? Tips? Gi vs no gi?

I've never done anything but no gi.

No tips, but one thing I will say is that if you watch a ton of MMA, you might pick things up quicker than someone who doesn't.

I took the back, got both hooks and slapped on a RNC on my first day

202 is a great PPV card on paper right now but I don't think it's touching 200. Both great though.

Only tip I can give is leave your ego at the door. Go in with an open mind and willingness to learn from anybody, even if it's just a young kid.

$30 for an entire month of BJJ is a hell of a deal. Do it! You won't regret it.

I am biased, so I recommend gi; however, you can't go wrong either way.

tap and tap often. oh, and don't forget to breathe.

Jones a fool for this, the whining about big John is getting comedic

"It's been a mixture of many things throughout the years," Jones said. "Just the energy. I don't feel like we have the best energy. It's an accumulation of some of the things that happened during some fights and just personal interactions. I just don't feel as, you don't need anything stacking up against you when you're fighting a great fighter like DC."

He [officiates] probably once a week somewhere," Jones said. "For me, this is my life, this is my story, this is my legacy. This is everything to me, and if I don't agree with his energy that he brings to the fight, if I was him, I wouldn't want to be a part of it. You know what I mean? If you're not welcome, why would you even want to be part of someone's big night who doesn't want you there. I would say, ‘you know, I'll back out of this one, I don't need to be a part of this one.'"

That's not likely to happen. But Jones holds out hope someone else will be in the cage come July 9.

"I feel as though we haven't had the best interactions over the years, and I would just hope he's not the referee."

yalls mans bones jones an em already comin up with excuses for a less than spectacular performance? best to ever do it?

Eh. Big John and Herb are the best refs but even they're not infallible. I wonder who was the ref who called the JBJ's one loss lol? Edit: Steve Maz.

And it looks like DC has an issue with Herb Dean being the ref, so it's not an isolated thing.

I've never seen a fighter make this big a deal out of the ref, DC included, so this is kind of like a first

Jon can't even point to specific points as to why he is opposed to John. Nobody is perfect, that's a given

Crying about a ref, without cause, just seems very whiny

Always love split decisions going
Judge 1- 29-28 champion
Judge 2- 29-28 contender
Judge 3- 30-27 champion

Always wonder how each judge does their scoring. Take downs have always seemed to be big game changers if it goes full rounds

I think its cuz Big John actually calls him out for "sticking his hands out" intentionally everytime

they probably just don't get along, probably said some stuff to each other in the past behind closed doors that turned each other off to one another....and you can tell if jones doesnt like you...your basically an enemy to this dood

so im sure they probably have a personal grudge going on....

i remember in the vitor fight jon came out like he always does golem style with 1 hand on the ground....vitor ran up and tried to soccer kick him but missed, jones looked at big jon like WTF and big jon hits him back with "you want to play your little game"

remember that after reading the article posted

Not a huge fan of the Condit-Maia matchup. Hope Condit doesn't get blanketed the entire time like the Brown-Maia fight.

It's sad that nobody likes Maia lol. I understand a guy like Fitch not being appreciated but Maia lately has been pretty entertaining IMO

Since the Magney win he's been putting on exceptional performances, not boring at all IMO... but somehow it seems lost on fans. Even my MMA friends were saying "oh I hope Condit beats him down good because I don't want to see Maia get a title shot"... sad. I'm happy Maia got into this position, he deserves it, dude has been transitioning effortlessly his past 3 fights on the mat.. blanketing = Fitch or Askren

I have Condit TKO'ing him though

I kinda **** with Maia. I'm not huge on the grappling specialists but he goes pretty hard for the finish, I still remember that neck crank on Rick Story :x

He's been running through folks so he earned his spot, I respect it. Definitely curious to see if he can actually work his game on a high level striker like Condit without getting his lights shut off.

I like Maia. I can appreciate high level grappling. I just don't like that he's Condit's first fight after a controversial loss to Robbie.

But it does make perfect sense.
