The Combat Jack Show Thread

I think 400 Degreez was the first album they put out under universal, that was 98 so Bird was like 28-30.

:lol dude just said he signed Wayne when he (Birdman) was 16 :rollin

Dude’s timeline is gonna be hilarious if he ever does a biopic. Like this **** ain’t easily verifiable :lol

He say that **** with so much conviction too. He almost got me convinced and I'm old enough to have seen CMR whole rise.

You was a millionaire at 14 from the dope game? We know he did his thing but a mil at 14???? :lol

"They through the bronze on me"

I just heard the back and forth with her and Joyner. She look bad man. She was all over the place in her rebuttal and didn't speak to ANYTHING he accused her of. A bunch of Juelzing.

Wack is something else. So he was texting all of them to come in the room. Telling what the other was saying.

Son looks like he's saying my seafood platter bout to take another 20 minutes because something broken in the back and the menu screens don't work.

My thing is he's behind a big *** desk looking like a front desk person highlighting how small he is. The host is supposed to be highlighted.

Clearly didn't consult an expert who could see stuff like that. Probably got somebody off Karen after overpaying her.

It's one thing to play PE

It's another for the more radical side. It's like they finally realized. Wait, when they're talking about devils, they're talking about us? They're the real jews? We're promoting that?

Oh hell nah.

Joe was on that ******** again. How do you go from praising J Cole, to bringing up Aubrey?

And Aubrey is the top, because of sales? Mediocre albums don't matter? When hasn't sales been a factor? So Hammer, Snoop, Nelly, Ja Rule, 50 were considered the best rappers? When have sales ever been a factor? 16 year old girls in Ohio determine who's the best rapper?

Dude just says anything out of his mouth to defend the love of his life.

His rap takes are getting worse. We needed Joe to tell us that Life of Pablo wasn't good? That was some **** he was only saying?

At least Ice will admit I don't **** with R&B like that. Joe needs to stop talking about rap, because they only thing he can discuss is Aubrey.

Drake was mentioned in the song

It reminds me of Curtis who really thinks Eminem is the best and its all cuz of his sales.

If you want to approach who the best is off that you can't then pretend you about lyrics and great songs.

Yeah Joe and ish was smoking a heavy drake pack for that one.

Dude is the definition of formulaic. I don't hear evolution. He keeps giving us the same thing over and over and over.

He's behind the other 2 for me when it comes to pretty much everything outside of numbers based accolades.

It's slightly hypocritical too cuz a few eps back after giving his album more listens they were like it's all mid.

Cole is a better storyteller, but Aubs definitely slicker **** and more clever bars. But then again idk about the storytelling b/c 6god can do that too at a top level, & then Hov loves collabing w/ him. Looks like he's passing him the torch.

There's almost nothing Cole does better than Drake to be real.

Every rapper has their lane, but Drake is one of the only rappers held to the standard of having to switch it up. We expect timestamp lyrical tracks, club bangers, stripper bangers, r&b simp anthems, afrobeats hits, pop hits at a high clip, meanwhile most artists drop albums again and again on the same subject matter. Never heard anyone wondering when Kendrick/Cole gonna make some hits for the strip club/party/kickback.

We don't ask Future, Rick Ross, Pusha T to give us different music because they are great at what they do. But there's definitely a certain standard reserved for those in the GOAT convo.

People grasp at straws to hate him b/c there's really nothing there. He always keeps it in the music like ppl demand then complain when he does. There's so much nasty goalpost moving when it comes to him

Aside from wavycrocket wavycrocket  no one ever put Future, Rick Ross, Pusha T in greatest of all time convos either

Pac, Hov, Kendrick, Kanye, Outkast, to a certain extent in his prime even Wayne switched it up subject matter and beat wise and all have distinct eras. Cole is a lil less diverse but he ventured into the trap beats a lil these last two albums + his compilation.

with Drake you pretty much only got pre SFG and post IYRTITL  as far as major changes to his sound/topics.

He got like 4-5 song templates he been using forever and recently added the mandem flow + the tropical Nintendo Wii beat type songs lol

And honestly it didn’t even really get super noticeably repetitive until Views - Scorpion - CLB. You could interchange any of the songs from those three albums with each other and nothing would sound out of place.

********

Drake gives absolutely no depth, maturation and introspection and his subject matter is the same **** he's been doing for the past 12 years.

People don't expect other rappers to switch it up? I talk about the **** constantly. And who is putting Pusha T in a top five list?

He's also been playing karaoke for the past 5/6 years. His "depth" revolves around what other sounds are popular and doing his own renditions.

We make jokes about Soulja Boy doing it but Drake does it at a grandiose scale and gets away with it :smh:
