And the drunk girls comment is true. Honestly I find it annoying when I have some drunk chick keep getting up to get a beer while I'm watching a game. Syracuse is one of three programs in the nation to sell beer on campus

Yeah becuase our school is so money hungry. They are one of the few schools to sell it. Personally i don't like it becuase it just is a pain in the@*#$. Long lines and annoying people everywhere. Not so much where i sit, but during football it is the worst.


Yep, they are. They raise ticket prices every year, tuition and find every loophole possible to rape students who are struggling to pay in the firstplace.

UK fans know not to rush the court. 20K fine and since it's public (taxes) the whole state of Kentucky will be pissed.

i don't understand the "not rushing the court" logic. the majority of the ppl at those games are drunk college kids and that's 100% who doesthe storming. it's not like wealthy alumni are down there hanging on the !+%*+#% rim and waving "#1" with their fingers at the camera like a damnidiot

storm the court? fans will never, ever, ever storm the court at Rupp Arena. ever. Tennessee's won 4 games at Rupp Arena, 4. i would be disgusted if westormed the court. as Craftsy said, there's always a few morons who want to.

UNC, UK, Indiana, UCLA, Kansas, and dUKe (even though i think they did not too long ago) should never, ever storm the court. Syracuse shouldn't either.

Roy Hibbert is a joke. He is the definition of a stiff. He can't move. I don't understand how anyone considers him a draft prospect. His only NBAprospects are to be SC top 10 getting dunked on every night. Who can honestly imagine him doing well in the NBA? When my man came to Georgetown he couldn'tdo a pushup. How can you not do a pushup. I'll take Larry George from UNC Asheville over him

as bad as Roy supposedly has been this year, he's having a better year then last season.

I was agreeing with how bad he had looked pre conference play though.

The team revolves around him still, his passing still gets overlooked...he showed a little jumper last night.

He is missing a mean streak, and struggles rebounding..


and that thing about not being able to do a pushup should tell you something about his work ethic to get to where he is now..

As far as storming the court...boy did that become a huge issue last season. On one hand I think a storied program should never but theres a part of me thatthinks why shouldn't the fans have that fun? If you are having a down year and you beat a top 5 team....it's still a major upset no matter what schoolyou are. Today, Kentucky beat a real good team however, it is still not gonna put them in the tourney AND Tennessee is not really a top 5 team in my mind. Lastseason, Cuse stormed the court when beating a real top 5 team(at the time we're maybe playing the best ball in the country) in a major rivalry that wasalso supposed to be the game that put us into the tourney. Definitely two difference circumstances if you ask me. No way Kentucky should have stormed today...

Yeah OK...tell that to Tyler Hansborough and Aaron Gray (who Roy is SINGLE handledly responsible for pushing him to the 2nd round)...Greg Oden even gotsome too. Call him what you want...but Roy can ball...and his bball IQ is extremely high for someone his size. He's strong and he's got post moves...hemight not be the prototypical athletic big man but he can play ball and thats all that matters. Stop thinking that you need to be able to slap stickers onbackboards in order to play in the league. There is a reason why NBA scouts are on him and he's a lock for the lottery...because there are plenty of those"bouncy big men" available in the draft and Roy will be in the lottery right there with them.

What does what he did when he came to Georgetown have to do with him now...everyone knows he was a project coming in...and the staff put in WORK and got an allamerican out of him...take George all you want...Roy would give that dude 40 points if he wanted to.

Tennessee's the place to be: Volunteer State is new capital of men's college basketball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - To the east, Bruce Pearl is spreading school pride on Rocky Top, sporting a fresh orange suit and taking his eighth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers to new heights.

To the west, John Calipari is perched on the banks of the Mississippi River, trying to keep his No. 2 Memphis Tigers perfect.

And halfway between the nearly 400 miles of rolling mountains, tobacco fields and blue chip recruits that separate Memphis and Knoxville, Kevin Stallings quietly has turned his 13th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores into the latest star of the Music City.

Welcome to the Volunteer State, making a case for Tennessee as the new home of men's college basketball.

"You can talk about tobacco road in the Carolinas, and you can talk about Indiana and Kentucky all you want, you're not going to find a more competitive basketball state than Tennessee right now,'' Pearl said. "The state of Tennessee defines what college basketball is all about.''

Tennessee is the only state with three teams ranked in The Associated Press Top 25, let alone the top 15. These three schools were among the final 16 playing last March - Memphis (13-0) made it to the regional finals, while Vanderbilt (15-0) and Tennessee (12-1) were each a basket away from joining the Tigers.

All not only hope to be playing deep into the NCAA tournament this season, they have national title aspirations.

"I think we all have a chance to get to the Final Four,'' Calipari said. "Right now, you don't even need to leave Tennessee to find the best basketball in the country.''

For years, the college basketball landscape was controlled by states like North Carolina, Kentucky and Indiana. Top-ranked North Carolina now has only Duke for company in the rankings. In the Bluegrass State, Kentucky and Louisville have sputtered, and the power seems to have shifted.

Make room for Tennessee.

"We're enjoying it,'' Stallings said. "I've always felt this state had a huge talent pool.''

It has, but high school stars haven't always stayed.

Billy Donovan, for instance, led Florida to consecutive national titles with a pair of Tennessee players as starters - Corey Brewer from Portland, and Lee Humphrey from Maryville.

One of the first high-profile recruits Pearl tried to bring to Tennessee was Brandon Wright, a Nashville native who ultimately went to North Carolina and turned pro a year later. Trying to recruit Wright seemed like a lost cause for Pearl.

"He wasn't disrespectful at all, but there was no way he could have stayed,'' Pearl said. "I think those days are gone. I think the best players in the state are going to give us all a strong look. They don't feel like they have to leave anymore.''

Don't think these schools, just because they're flourishing, are rooting for one another. Yes, all three coaches say there's mutual respect, but they've had heated battles, too.

Calipari and Pearl have tussled over recruits, often trying to sign a star player even after he's said where he wants to go.

Pearl pulls his signature orange suit from the closet only against select opponents. Vanderbilt made that list last year.

And there's been dispute over the Memphis-Tennessee game, which alternates between schools each season. Calipari wants it in a neutral city, like Nashville, to keep Pearl and the Vols from getting exposure in his western third of the state.

"You could call it the Governor's Cup,'' Calipari said last month.

The Vols are nestled on the edge of the Smoky Mountains, in a campus town. The Tigers sit atop the Mississippi Delta in Memphis, anchoring a region that breeds top recruits and lives for basketball. And Vanderbilt is a small, private university that relies on out-of-state and international players.

"Each school has a different personality,'' Vanderbilt guard Shan Foster said. "It's like none of us want to be the same as the other.''

They differ on court, too.

Memphis goes physical, letting the offense come from isolating players for penetration. Vanderbilt has the shooters, and it's tough to get players into the academic-minded university. Pearl has Tennessee running with a quick-shot offense to go along with its full-court pressure.

Tennessee and Memphis have strong followings in the state, while Vanderbilt often is overshadowed.

"I think that sometimes people forget Vanderbilt is in Tennessee,'' said Commodores guard Keegan Bell, who grew up in Hazel Green, Ala., just over the Tennessee border. "We're the forgotten school.''

Good basketball doesn't stop with the big three in Tennessee

Belmont has been to the NCAA tournament two straight years. East Tennessee State made the tournament four consecutive years from 1989-92, and in 2003 and 2004.

Tennessee State upset Illinois on the road in December, and Tennessee-Martin's Lester Hudson recorded a rare quadruple-double against Central Baptist earlier this season when he had 25 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals.

Oh, and the coach who has won the most college basketball games calls Tennessee home.

Don't think Pat Summitt, who has led the Lady Vols to seven national titles, hasn't noticed the men catching up to her.

"We've got something special going on right now in Tennessee,'' Summitt said. "It's the place to be.''

"It always feels good to win against our big rivalries. And just to get this win against (the fifth-ranked team). I have just never heard Rupp rock like this. These last couple games our fans have been very supportive and provided a lot of energy for us."


and allen, Pat's parents done said that he's gonna stay at UK until he graduates. but we all know how that goes...Randolph Morris said the same thing. there was a nice article in my paper the other day comparing Morris and DJ White and thier senior year decisions...i'll see if i can find it.

Morris should have taken path White's taking


Every time I watch D.J. White play basketball for Indiana University this winter, the player I think about is former University of Kentucky center Randolph Morris.

The way White has added a dependable baby hook shot and a game that forces teams to guard him from 12 feet. The way White chases every rebound as if his meal money is riding on it. The way White acts the way a senior leader is supposed to act, barking at teammates to do the right things.

The way White has shown that the wisest way to prepare for a long and productive pro career has been to stay in college four seasons and allow Kelvin Sampson to coach him into one of the nation's most complete inside players.

Unlike Morris, who could have learned from Billy Gillispie while playing for a UK team that needed him this winter.

The New York Knicks have played 41 games, half their NBA season. Morris has played six.

Not six games, silly. Six minutes. Jared Carter gets more time with UK than Morris gets with the Knicks. Give or take an overtime, Morris has been on the court 0.3 percent of the Knicks' horrific season.

Five minutes against Phoenix on Nov. 13. Then 62 days of nothing. Then Morris finally removed his warm-ups to play another minute Jan. 15 against Washington. Then he returned to sleep mode. He saw more time (five games, averaging 8.8 minutes) in the last month of last season than he has in the first three months of this one.

Not a center of attention

Morris is a 6-foot-11 center on a team with the NBA's fifth-worst record at 13-28. He's not sitting behind Patrick Ewing. He's sitting behind the other overpriced junk that Knicks coach Isiah Thomas has brought to Madison Square Garden.

Morris' next rebound will be his first this season. He did score five points against Phoenix.

I'd better not forget this: Morris is getting paid $810,000.

Great for him, although I'm convinced that one reason some people change the channel at the first sight of the NBA is that guys such as Morris are getting an outrageous $810,000 for playing six minutes of basketball.

It's the salary, of course, that will inspire people to say it's unfair to criticize Morris' decision to bolt UK last March, 20 seconds after he finished his junior year in the Wildcats' NCAA Tournament loss to Kansas.

Because he placed his name in the 2005 NBA draft and then was not selected after his freshman season, Morris had bargaining power. He could sign with any team at any time. He didn't have to wait for the 2007 draft.

Enter Thomas, who has never been compared to Red Auerbach. Last March the Knicks offered Morris a two-year contract worth a reported $1.6 million. Although Morris had pledged to finish his four-year career at UK, he left.

Now he's essentially a 6-11 version of Knicks superfan Spike Lee -- a front-row seat guy without the movie credits or freedom to eat popcorn.

I know what Morris' defenders are going to say: He's chasing his dream. He's making a living. He's blah, blah, blah.

Take White in the long run

After this season, Morris will be at least $810,000 ahead of White, who could have left Indiana after last season but decided he needed more work, playing time and coaching.

In five years or less, I expect the bank-account advantage to tilt toward White. In 17 games, White is averaging nearly 17 points and 11 rebounds. He's delivered 11 double-doubles in IU's past 13 games.

White is playing his way into the first round of the 2008 draft, which will mean a two-year guaranteed contract. It will also mean this: White will enter the league more prepared to contribute and grow into a player who will earn a second contract and then a third.

It's tougher to say how much Morris will improve while strapped in his front-row seat.

The last 2 minutes got better - but even then, I was underwhelmed by their enthusiasm. Like I said though - it could be two things.. first off,there's obvious disappointment from most fans in that situation... they feel like they're supposed to be the 5th ranked team, and this win does verylittle to erase the bad taste of all the other games this season.. OR, it could also just be that the arena and/or the coverage didn't come across thetelevision and really represent what it was like in there.

I just know that in terms of sheer loudness - it was pretty weak compared to a lot of other big games I've seen broadcasted over the years. Again - couldbe just a bad sound signal over the TV, but i expected a more energized crowd the last 10 minutes.
