Harden... I'm still not convinced. He has the tools. But just doesn't seem polished enough for the pros imo.
Blake... Another guy I'm just not convinced is worth the hype. Not as good as Beasley last year. Or Durant the year before imo. But we'll see.
- Agreed. Draft ready, not NBA ready. Not just saying this, either. No right hand, still needs to develop a 17 footer and has to get stronger/quicker. 1 more year solves everything.
- I have faith he can develop a 15 foot jumper and some moves. But, Honestly his overall d is overrated. He's no Deke. I've been a supporter of his NBA future for a while now, but I have some concerns, big ones, still.
- same
- Disagree. He's as polished IMO as anyone coming out. i agree with the blurbs on him.
- think Blake's strength and athleticism will make up a lot for him. Agree that Mike and KD looked better.

Jordan Hill hype I still don't get it. somebody's gona take someone they KNOW will never amount to nothing more than a role player top 10? ehh.
Just to clarify... I wasn't trying to imply that Hasheem = Deke. I was trying to say that he's a similar type of player in the sense thathe's all D, no O. No jumper. No hook. No real post moves. Awkward movement in the paint.... But GREAT at altering/blocking shots.
Unlike you though, I have NO faith in him ever developing a 15 footer.

Harden... I'll try to watch a bit more...
As for Blake, which team do you see him being a good fit on? Just curious...

watching Hash at the FT line and seein that step back against 'Ville is enough to think he can do it. The form is surprisingly good. hear ya on the dekething. He's just frustrating. I know he'll have a game in March where he just is a complete no show. I'll never trust this group of Uconn kids.

I think Blake can go anywhere and have success. But Don't think he's a lock for stardom. I still like the healthy Antonio McDyess comparison.

Didn't expect USF to get the win. I actually thought Marquette might make to at least 13-0 in the BE. Now, hopefully they can drop some more.

Griffin will be a very good power forward...I like the Antonio McDyess comparison.
James will be a good player as well...Been calling the Brandon Roy comparisons for awhile.
I really like Greg Monroe, he'd be the third best prospect...I see a little bit of (a poor man's) Chris Webber in him, maybe that's just me?

As for Thabeet, I'm not sold on him. Yeah he can turn out to be the next Mutombo, but I wouldn't be surprised if he turned into the next Dalemberteither.

I'll predict the Wizards/DoubleJs get Blake Griffin (that's unless $tern decides to pull another hometown favor

).

Hasheem def has a nice touch.

I was right behind the basket watching the shoot-around during the first exhibition game this year at Gampel.

It was about an hour maybe a little more before the game when most of the players began to warm up.

Hasheem came out and started draining midrange jumpers and I was stunned. He also hit one three out of I think three shots with each of the misses hitting rim.

After seeing this I always wondered why he didn't try taking any during games until the Louisville game. Probably because all the scouts.

Anyways, I wanted to know what your guys opinion on Adrien.

During the same shoot-around I mentioned earlier, Adrien had the worst shooting display other than mandeldove but thats not saying much.

At first I thought he was just too big (NH) to shoot. Seriously though, seeing him up-close was mind bottleing.
Son really thinks he is superman or something, on some action figure $$%$.

But lately he has been hitting his jumpers and free throws with much more regularity.

Would you say mid to late 2nd round pick?

I'm looking forward to the Miami @ Duke game. i hope McClinton and co. can add onto Duke's misery.

He just prolly has some beef with guys on the team

Bad loss for Quette. They couldn't score

Big bubble match-up tomorrow in the Big Xii in Kansas St. @ Texas A&M...

This could be the swing game for A&M's season. Win tomorrow, and I could see us finishing 7-1 or 6-2 in these last 8 conference games. Lose, and Icould see us tanking and going something like 4-4 or 3-5.

A&M is a 3-point favorite at opening, so it's virtually a pretty even match-up.

This dude isn't scoring on Derrick Roland. If Roland plays around 25 minutes and stays out of foul trouble, Denis Clemente won't scoremore than 20.

Don't get me wrong, I hate K-state with every fiber of my being, so much that I wish some lighting fixtures would fall from the BramlageColiseum ceiling and kill every last one of them, but they are on a roll here lately and Texas A&M has had a hell of a time putting games away in the pastfew. I think A&M will beat them soundly if they keep Denny Clemente (scored 44 points in a game last week) from going off, but if not then......

Weekend Preview
With just over four weeks to go until Selection Sunday, the NCAA Tournament picture is starting toclear up in some areas--but becoming increasingly more blurry in others. Bubble teams are not really separating themselves from the rest of the pack, whileconferences races are getting tighter and tighter around the country. Conference tournaments are around the corner - it's time for teams to get somemomentum. This weekend has plenty of key games on the slate.

Top Games
No. 20 Syracuse at No. 17 Villanova (Saturday, 12:00 PM,ESPN): Two Big East teams coming off impressive wins this week, as Syracuse defeated West Virginia at home and Villanova knocked off Providence on theroad. Before the win, 'Cuse had lost four of its previous five. 'Nova has won four in a row to get into the top-four seed conversation for the BigDance.
Notre Dame at No. 15 UCLA (Saturday, 1:00 PM, CBS): Can Notre Dame snap itssix-game losing streak against the Bruins? The Fighting Irish are in a huge rut, and are not even in consideration for the Big Dance right now. However, a winhere would jumpstart their turnaround. However, UCLA has won three in a row and 14 of its last 16 games overall. They are sitting atop the Pac-10.
Miami (Fl.) at No. 4 Duke (Saturday, 1:30 PM, ESPN FullCourt/Regional TV):Two teams that were both a part of the two biggest surprises of the week - Miami's slaughtering of Wake Forest at home and Clemson's demolition of Dukeby 27. Can Miami keep its hot streak going, or will Duke bounce back? I can't see Mike Krzyzewski allowing the Blue Devils to lose again.
Michigan at No. 1 Connecticut (Saturday, 6:00 PM, ESPN): Anothernon-conference game that has plenty of meaning for the visitor. Before Michigan's victory over Penn State Thursday night, the Wolverines had lost five oftheir previous six. A win here would do wonders for their at-large hopes. Connecticut is playing the best basketball in the country right now after its roadwin at Louisville.
Florida State at No. 10 Clemson (Saturday, 7:00 PM, Regional TV): An ACCbattle featuring plenty of athletes on both sides. Florida State escaped Georgia Tech at home on Thursday, but could use a marquee win for its at-large resume.Clemson destroyed Duke at home on Wednesday, proving once again that this year's Tigers are not the Tigers of the past few years.
No. 19 Minnesota at Ohio State (Saturday, 8:00 PM, Big Ten Network): Two6-4 Big Ten teams looking to keep pace in the league race. Minnesota caught Michigan State at the wrong time on Wednesday, getting run out of the building fromthe opening tip. Ohio State, on the other hand, picked up a big win this week, knocking off Purdue in overtime to run its winning streak to three.
No. 14 Memphis at No. 18 Gonzaga (Saturday, 9:00 PM, ESPN): A big-timenon-conference game between two of the best non-BCS teams in the country. Memphis is quietly looking like a contender, having won 13 games in a row afterstarting 6-3. Gonzaga has also bounced back since a lull in midseason, as the Bulldogs have won nine in a row. Can either of these teams make a run inMarch?
No. 12 Purdue at No. 23 Illinois (Sunday, 1:00 PM, CBS): Two Big Ten teamsthat need a bounce-back win after falling on the road this week. Purdue, who might be without Robbie Hummel, lost in overtime at Ohio State on Tuesday.Illinois, who has been struggling somewhat lately, was defeated by Wisconsin on Thursday. Will either of these teams make a run at Michigan State in thestandings?
Boston College at No. 7 Wake Forest (Sunday, 4:00 PM, ESPN FullCourt/RegionalTV): The two teams that defeated North Carolina this season face off in a rematch of Wake's 20-point victory up in Boston. BC has won five in a rowafter a four-game losing streak, while the Demon Deacons have lost two in a row and three of their last four after a 27-point thrashing at the hands of Miami(Fl.) on Wednesday.

Bubble Battles
Cincinnati at Georgetown (Saturday, 12:00 PM, ESPNFullCourt/Regional TV): Major bubble contest in the Big East. Cincinnati has played itself into the at-large picture with a 5-5 Big East record and fivewins in its last seven games. Georgetown snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Rutgers on Tuesday, but the Hoyas need to keep winning.
Providence at West Virginia (Saturday, 4:00 PM, ESPN FullCourt/RegionalTV): Providence missed a chance to move closer to the at-large field with a three-point home loss to Villanova on Wednesday. West Virginia has thecredentials for a bid, but its sub-.500 record in the Big East needs improvement. Expect plenty of points and up-and-down action in this game.
Kansas State at Texas A&M (Saturday, 4:00 PM, ESPN FullCourt/RegionalTV): Two teams looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament battle it out. Kansas State has won four in a row after starting 0-4 in Big 12 play, whileTexas A&M missed a huge chance by falling late at Oklahoma on Wednesday. The Aggies are just 3-5 in conference play and need a victory.
UNLV at New Mexico (Saturday, 8:00 PM, CBS College Sports): Two of theseveral Mountain West teams looking to win the regular-season title. Right now, five teams are within one game of each other at the top of the standings. UNLVlost to San Diego State at home on Tuesday, while New Mexico has won five of its last seven games after dropping to start the New Year.
Wisconsin at Penn State (Sunday, 3:00 PM, Big Ten Network): Major clashbetween two teams looking to get another bid out of the Big Ten. Wisconsin still has plenty of work to do after its six-game losing streak, but a win overIllinois on Thursday night was a good start. Penn State defeated Michigan State on the road Sunday, but then was blown out by Michigan onThursday.

Conference Clashes
No. 16 Texas at Nebraska (Saturday, 2:00 PM, ESPN): IsNebraska a legit at-large contender? A win here could definitely get the Cornhuskers in contention, as they are 4-4 in the Big 12 and have a couple of decentwins on the docket. Texas has lost two in a row at home, to Kansas State in overtime and Missouri on Wednesday. A loss here would drop them to .500 in Big 12play.
Oklahoma State at No. 21 Kansas (Saturday, 3:30 PM, ABC): Two of the moreathletic teams in the Big 12 battle it out. Oklahoma State came back to knock off Texas Tech at home on Wednesday, keeping its at-large hopes alive. They arenow 3-4 in Big 12 play. Kansas is tied with Oklahoma atop the Big 12, sitting at 7-0 in conference play. The Jayhawks could get a top-four seed come SelectionSunday.
No. 22 Washington at Stanford (Sunday, 5:30 PM, FSN): The Pac-10 has beentopsy-turvy this season, and this week was no different. Washington, who had five of six games, was blown out by California, who had lost four of five headinginto the game. The Huskies are now one game back of UCLA. Stanford snapped a three-game losing streak with a solid victory over Washington State.

Mid-Major Madness
Siena at Rider (Saturday, 1:00 PM): Two of the better teamsin the MAAC go head-to-head. It's also one of the last legit spots for Siena to lose in conference play. The Saints are 12-0 in the MAAC, and are playingsome of their best basketball of the season. Rider is just 4-4 since starting conference play 3-0. Ryan Thompson is a player who can give Siena trouble on thewing.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Nicholls State (Saturday, 4:00 PM): Two ofthe best teams in the Southland try to gain conference supremacy. Corpus Christi lost its first game of the league season last week against Sam Houston State, and are now tied at 6-1 with SHS atop the West Nicholls State is 6-2, tied for first in the East with Stephen F. Austin, after defeating SFA onWednesday.
Charleston at Davidson (Saturday, 6:00 PM, ESPN2): One of Davidson'stoughest games of the Southern Conference season thus far was a four-point win at Charleston back in December. However, Charleston has since struggled, losingthree of its last four to drop to third place in the South division. This might be the last legit spot for Davidson to lose in league play.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Wisconsin-Green Bay (Saturday, 8:00 PM, ESPNFullCourt/Regional TV): The two teams chasing Butler in the Horizon League face-off to try to stay within striking distance of the Bulldogs. Milwaukeehas won two in a row since losing by 30 at Butler two weeks ago. Green Bay handed Butler its first league loss on Monday and has won eight of nine.
Creighton at Northern Iowa (Sunday, 2:05 PM, ESPN FullCourt/Regional TV):Northern Iowa has a three-game lead over the competition in the Missouri Valley with just six games left, and look like it has the title wrapped up. However,Creighton has won three in a row and needs a win to have a chance at a league title or an at-large bid. UNI has won 11 in a row, although the last five were bysingle-digits.

i was stunned to find out that McClinton played at Siena. i never knew that. yo Allen, i know you're a fan of them, imagine if McClinton had stayed @Siena! add McClinton to that already stacked team from last year...

that'd be unfair.

i think they coulda been an elite 8 team...this years team is playing great ball right now, hope they get at least an 11 seat and should cruise throught theMAAC...

that was some fluke !@+%.
I could see if they were gettin lucky winning all 20 of their other 22 games but this wasnt even close to how theyve played all yr.

I think they're 4th best, and

I love McNeal, but I don't like the team going forward.

the 4 physically 'big' teams in conference they haven't played and finish the last 4 with them. We'll see what they're really about then.

mix in @ Nova and @ G'Town...

some people ran the gauntlet early, some still got to do it...

Gimme Cuse over Nova, too.

This is how I feel also - quette is a solid team, but even with their great record they still only have a pomeroy rating of 23 - which puts them7th in the big east. That tells me... they haven't played the good teams on their schedule yet.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say they don't have a marquee win yet on that schedule... not for a top 10 team at least. Couple of solid home wins (WVUand Gtown, Nova)... but they will be favored to lose in probably 4 of their last 5 games - and maybe at Nova too.

I believe they're sweet 16 good... but i wouldn't be shocked to see them lose first round either, I don't buy them all that much. Why should I?

Think today is a big day for Duke..come out with a bad performance it's gona look like the same old story heading into the late part of the year.

give me Nova over Cuse. Zags in a close one over Memphis.

Yup. He's a better defender and decision maker. But he is one of the worst shooters I've seen since jacque vaughn
