It's said OKC always planned to spend when KD/Russ were in their prime.

I wonder what the # is for the Max $ Portland can offer

I can't see them letting Kanter go without matching, if Portland's max is more than OKC offered and OKC matches...I'd say this is the definition of a gamble paying off.

saw this on Twitter, thought i'd bring it in here:

would you retire LeBron's #6 in Miami?
would say no but if the spurs retired bowen's number, they should build a statue of bron in miami

Kobe ruin the laker franchise with His 48.5 contact. They haven't been the same since.

Meanwhile in SATX,

Parker
Green
Kawhi
Lma
Diaw
Patty
West

Thanks Duncan.

Was GSFOAT taken or is that still pending?

Enes Kanter and Dame Lillard on the same team with No Lopez or Mathews to clean up the messes.

Career highs for EVERYBODY!!!!

been the same since when? Last year, when he signed it? we're gonna act like the 'basketball reasons' didn't alter the Lakers more than a 2 yr deal did, of which we've only seen a yr of? yeah...on that note, hit the showers b.

he does have a point though. Kobe fan here. If he wanted to help, he could have signed a much friendlier deal. That deal hurt them tremendously.

But I think he deserved that deal. Hell, Duncan deserves a fat deal too. But he's taking a different route.

Knowing that Kobe is all about winning rings, which is what he says all of the time, what he did showed money was more important. Or was he dumb enough to think they would be alright with him taking $24M per? I think Kobe truly thought he would still be balling so $24M wouldn't be a detriment.

It seems reasonable no? He's going to be 33 at that point, he cant play like this forever, and a 5 year deal would carry him up until 38, thus avoiding the chance of him falling off inbetween that and getting out of that deal right around retirement age. Its the perfect scenario IMO

Everyone wants contract security, everyone.

And he has it. In short term deals while maximizing his full value. It's his franchise. Never at any point would Dan Gilbert say "we think you're slowing down Lebron...we're not going to give you what you want". This isn't everybody...this is Lebron and he holds all the leverage with that team and probably will own it one day.

Welp, I'll be back to the thread once he's banned again.

Thread already trash within hours of his arrival. What a surprise.

But antidope antidope constantly wants him "freed."

Happy now anti? Thread goes downhill instantly but hey, your boy is free.

Kanter probably means Kaman is gone.

Boss, Meyers, Plumlee, Vonleh, Kanter and Kaman? Yeesh. Gonna need to trade.

Who could the Lakers have signed that they couldn't have because of Kobe's deal?

His contract doesn't have anything to do with them whiffing in their primary targets for consecutive off seasons.

I have to think Kanter's about to get a $15M per offer from portland, no? But knowing there are no suitors for him (OKC offering him $5M?), they could low ball.

I find it surprising Dallas isnt going for him. But its a smart move. Dont get desperate and do things you shouldnt do.

Thats something nobody could have predicted though. Nobody thought players would be passing on them like this.

Hindsight. Right now his deal isnt hampering them. But this wasnt expected.

@ZachLowe_NBA: OKC is just about $2.5M under the tax, so a max deal for Kanter would cost them nearly $40M.

:eek :eek

I dont think anyone is immune to this though. Letting 35 Year old LeBron hold your team hostage for 1 year maxes is insane. Its bad business sense. I even think LeBron himself realizes that, and will take the long term deal at some point. But we can revisit this in two years.
