The 2012 NFL Draft Thread, 4/26 8EST/5PST Vikings are on the clock

Seeing Jarvis ball out...feels bad man

You can thank the overly cautious USC doctors. I still claim him as a Trojan though

Paul, why on earth would you have Foles ahead of Tannehill or Landry Jones? And I actually think Foles will get picked way sooner than he should, 2-3 round instead of like round 4 or 5.

It's simple really. I think he'll be better. I like Tannehill too, but I've gone out on a limb with saying Foles will be a surprisingly good QB in the NFL so I'm biased towards that.

I've lost some interest in Jones, so I don't have a real strong opinion on him right now, but that list would be how I would rate quarterbacks on my draft board.

considering there are a good group of QBs who could be coming out.. here is a breakdown of the draft situation by teams:

In the last 2 drafts 11 QBs have been chosen in the first 3 rounds. The Bengals, 49ers, Titans, Vikings, Jaguars, Patriots, Panthers, Rams, Browns & Broncos (obviously broncos could take a QB judging by their management) made those 11 picks. Of the remaining teams;

Bills just signed fitzpatrick(28 years old) to a nice sized extension (although i saw something this morning that says they can get out if he's cut before a certain date next year)
Jets have Sanchez(25) as their franchise guy (no clue what they will decide to do.. but i assume they would go with a vet IF they were going make a change)
Ravens have Flacco(26) as their franchise guy
Steelers have Roethlisberger(29) as their franchise guy
Chargers have Rivers(29) as their franchise guy
Bears have Cutler(28) as their franchise guy
Lions have Stafford(23) as their franchise guy
Packers have Rodgers(28) as their franchise guy
Falcons have Ryan(26) as their franchise guy
Bucks have Freeman(23) as their franchise guy

It's safe to say that you can count these 20 teams out when talking about drafting a first round QB. These teams have 22 of the 32 1st round picks

Of the remaining teams;

Cardinals have just made a huge investment in Kolb(27) to be their franchise guy (no clue what they will do)
Eagles have just made a huge invesyment in Vick(31) to be their franchise guy* (could see us trying pull a rodgers.. since vick's deal is really a 2 year deal)
Raiders have just made a huge investment in Palmer(32) to be their franchise guy giving up their first round pick (again no clue)
Texans have Schaub(30) as their franchise guy (no clue)
Giants have Manning(30) as their franchise guy
Cowboys have Romo(31) as their franchise guy (depends on how the season finishes)
Saints have Brees(32) as their franchise guy and no first round pick

a total of 27 draft picks in the first round that could possibly skip out on a QB

That leaves 5 picks unaccounted for

It's possible that all 5 teams pick a QB in the 1st but it's unlikely as some teams seem more willing to go with a fill in starter or FA

if one of those 1st round grade QBs are available when Cleveland is on the clock, they HAVE to take a QB.

Or be stuck in NFL Mediocrity for years.

What?  No faith in Colt?

Gunna....who do you think the Bucs should look for with their 1st round pick?

Right? I hit 10,000 posts I'm changing it.

Not to say that I think that he'll be an All Pro QB but I'd like to see what he'd do with a weapon or two. I'd trust Holmgren knows he has to plug up some more holes.

Or they could always go get back Brady

I like Colt. Not enough to warrant him a franchise Q, but he's scrappy enough to put decent stretches together. Just not a good fit for him with Cleveland. They need a true franchise QB.

they need O Line and Cornerback Help immediately.

either one of those 2, is headed in the right direction

I'd still think they want to build on that O-Line and make damn sure they keep Cutler and Forte movin.  And some depth at WR couldn't hurt.

I'd think they would have an opening for one of the TE's coming into the draft, helps the line, plus a safety valve for Jay, but Martz don't ever use em.

Wants this so badly... but any QB we draft should be our starter next year...

am i crazy for thinking RG3 and barkley have higher ceilings than luck?
(more so RG3)

i mean luck is the safest pick of the 3 (obviously).. and a GM couldn't even contemplate taking someone other than luck.. but the more i look at these other guys the more i wonder
(hell the more i starting looking at draft eligible guys on the whole.. thank you eagles)

not one bit, dude. im on that bus as well

Nah, I'd say Luck has a higher ceiling than Barkley due to mobility and size. RGIII, I can't say %$$+. I'm damn confused about that guy's potential. One of the things is I'm honestly concerned about B12 QB's. Bradford and Freeman have regressed this year and Colt McCoy is Colt McCoy. Who's the last one to star in the league? I would look but I'm damn lazy. Oh and btw, WalterFootball mocked RGIII @ 2 to the Dolphins and Matty Barks @ 6 to the Skins...

Much higher ceiling. This may be somewhat of a homer, but considering the types of games he's been putting up this year (

what he did on that last drive to Oklahoma) I can't see Barkley or Luck doing that... And don't be surprised when he puts up Vick like numbers during his 40 at the Combine

I don't think Bradford has regressed at all. That team is in shambles and there is little Bradford can do about that. Lloyd helps a little, but I think Bradford is worth every bit of his potential.

Freeman is another story though.

^ it's easy to see with RG3.. with the accuracy, speed and smarts this kid has

barkley, is a little tougher.. obviously barkley has better skill position guys (albeit they are young guys)..

but it's not like luck is out there alone.. luck, decastro and martin should all go top 20.. and they also have a couple good BIG tight ends
