Dang J1Goku thats an awesome find there can you recomend anything else from Excel andEnter Sandman does sound similar to that. If you listen to Saxon checkout the song Princess of the Night and you will see that Metallica borrowed the solo from them and usedit on Seek and Destroy. Listen to both of them and itsounds almost exactly the same. I don't know how toembed other wise I wouldpost it. By the way no shame in jamming out to the Police they make somepretty damn good music. Just the other day I was jamming out to Don't Stand So Close To Me.

BEST SOLOS IN METAL BY FAR

keeping it in the crossover realm, time to show some love to one of my favorites, LEEWAY

anyways i cant believe how many people have slept on this band. their album "Born to Expire" is easily in my top 10. i know Shadows Fallcovered "Mark of The Squealer" on one of their records so you might of heard of them from there, but if you havent then i recommend adding "BornTo Expire" and "Desperate Measures" to your collection.

Hardcore/metal crossover pioneers D.R.I. (DIRTY ROTTEN IMBECILES) will return from an official hiatus and resume live performances this November, starting November 6 in Tucson, Arizona. The band's last show in North America was September 2004 when a proposed winter tour was abruptly canceled by the news that founding member Spike Cassidy was diagnosed with colon cancer. He underwent surgery (a one-foot section of large intestine was removed through an eight-inch incision in his stomach on March 27, 2006), radiation and chemotherapy and is said to be winning the battle against the disease.

Cassidy commented on his return to the stage: "I am very happy D.R.I. will be playing again; it has been far too long. We are currently setting up weekends to test the water and rebuild the stamina that we were known for. We all look forward to restarting up exactly where we left off."

He added: "Right now it is two- and three-day weekends until 2010, followed by some international work. We really are planning to be able to do a four-week tour by late summer 2010. We are also hoping to do some festivals in the middle of these weekends, one of which will be announced in a few weeks. It will be great to reconnect with all the fans again."

Confirmed dates so far:

Nov. 06 - Tuscon, AZ - The Rock
Nov. 07 - Mesa, AZ - U.B.'s
Nov. 27 - Seattle, WA - El Corazon
Nov. 28 - Portland, OR - Satyricon
Dec. 04 - Cleveland, OH - Peabody's Down Under
Dec. 05 - Detroit, MI - Blondie's
Dec. 11 - Virginia Beach, VA - Peppermint Beach Club
Dec. 12 - Springfield, VA - Jaxx
Dec. 13 - Baltimore, MD - Sonar
Dec. 19 - Annaheim, CA - Chain Reaction
Dec. 20 - Hollywood, CA - Key Club

Tickets are on sale exclusively through EnterTheVault.com until August 29 at which point they will be made available through all normal ticketing systems.

For the past 27 years, D.R.I. has been the epitome of the aggressive, hardcore-punk thrash sound that we've all become accustomed to hearing. Throughout this time, they've been one of the few genuine underground bands to remain true to their pure punk roots. Still actively touring and recording, the only thing that may have changed is that they're a little older now, but time hasn't gotten the best of the DIRTY ROTTEN IMBECILES. They're still thrashing just as hard, and just as loud as ever, continuing to overload our senses with the sound that is, and will always remain, uniquely D.R.I.

honestly everything D.R.I. has put out is dope.

Dirty Rotten
Dealing With It
Crossover
4 of A Kind
Thrash Zone
Definition
Full Speed Ahead

i believe thats all their LPs(in order of release) minus live albums and comps. their first 2 albums are more hardcore/punk driven, Crossover is when the metalinfluence really started to show up. with that said my 3 favorites would probably have to be Crossover, Full Speed Ahead, and Dealing With It, but like i saidall their stuff is good.

ROT IN HELL soooo goood

I got them exactly at 10 because they have a tough schedule. They play NFC East teams then we also have the Patriots and of course our own division teams soits gonna be tought but I think we'll do good. So what do you think about your Chargers. Are they playoff bound this year? They look decent but Ihaven't heard much about them.

As for music wise I got the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival this weekend and it can't get any closer. Can't wait to see Cannibal Corpse and Slayer. Hasanyone gone yet?

Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

He had been hospitalized in February 2006 when he learned he won two Grammys for an album he released after his 90th birthday, "Les Paul & Friends: American Made, World Played."

"I feel like a condemned building with a new flagpole on it," he joked.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording.

With Ford, his wife from 1949 to 1962, he earned 36 gold records and 11 No. 1 pop hits, including "Vaya Con Dios," "How High the Moon," "Nola" and "Lover." Many of their songs used overdubbing techniques that Paul the inventor had helped develop.

"I could take my Mary and make her three, six, nine, 12, as many voices as I wished," he recalled. "This is quite an asset." The overdubbing technique was highly influential on later recording artists such as the Carpenters.

The use of electric guitar gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1940s, and then exploded with the advent of rock the 1950s.

"Suddenly, it was recognized that power was a very important part of music," Paul once said. "To have the dynamics, to have the way of expressing yourself beyond the normal limits of an unamplified instrument, was incredible. Today a guy wouldn't think of singing a song on a stage without a microphone and a sound system."

A tinkerer and musician since childhood, he experimented with guitar amplification for years before coming up in 1941 with what he called "The Log," a four-by-four piece of wood strung with steel strings.

"I went into a nightclub and played it. Of course, everybody had me labeled as a nut." He later put the wooden wings onto the body to give it a tradition guitar shape.

In 1952, Gibson Guitars began production on the Les Paul guitar.

Pete Townsend of The Who, Steve Howe of Yes, jazz great Al DiMeola and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page all made the Gibson Les Paul their trademark six-string.

Over the years, the Les Paul series has become one of the most widely used guitars in the music industry. In 2005, Christie's auction house sold a 1955 Gibson Les Paul for $45,600.
