Stephon Clark, 22 Year Old Black Male Shot and Killed by Police in his Backyard Sunday

Ill be the Devils advocate.

If true, this guy was suspected to have broken windows of other property nearby. Police confront him, he takes off and runs behind his gparents home (something about thats the only way to get in).

1. If he was breaking stuff and it was my stuff he was breaking, I would have shot him.
2. If he was damanging others property, hes a punk for running home bringing his mess to his gparents home.
3. If what they say is true, I have little remorse.
4. If what they say is not true, police need the book.

Okay, I still don't see where 20 shots (or lethal force in general) would be justified in this scenario.

Nothing's going to come of this, suspicious activity of the victim, it's night time, so they'll state the officers had reasonable suspicion to believe the victim had a gun. We've seen this story before, even ones w/ a better story and the ending is still the same.
They set this precedent back in the 90's w/ Rodney King.

Breaking windows does not justify getting shot. Ain't no devil's advocate for that.
Break my windows especially those of my house I will shoot you. Police will be there to collect your body. I got a family to protect on the other side.

You have to demilitarized local police and the best way to start bringing along change is to not put white officers who grew up in white suburban neighborhoods patrolling the hood, let officers who grew up and have first hand experience living and dealing in these communities since a young age, patrol them....let them be involved with the community and take care of the community they grew up in....you throw a dude with a gun that doesn’t have much experience dealing with minorities and all you have is a dude with a racial bias and stereotypes embedded in him about **** he knows very little about, that’s a recipe for disaster right there and this is why these dudes react how they do

A lot of good suggestions you gave.......particularly about doing community service and engaging with members of the community while in the academy. One thing that really needs to be addressed is the lack of black officers signing up for the job.

If a certain department is looking to hire 500 officers and 85%-90% of the applicants are white that's troubling. It's truly up to more blacks more people in the community in or around the area they serve in to make the necessary changes within. We're the only group that willfully allows others to take care of us.

You would shoot someone for breaking your stuff? Kill someone over some broken property?

There is a difference between defending your home against someone coming in to take your belongings and possibly harm you/your family in the process, as opposed to police going onto private property, to intentionally kill it's resident who "fit the description" of a suspected crime in the vicinity.

Perhaps but he was "accused" of breaking car windows not home windows. A person breaking into a car poses no threat to a person in a home

Nothing gonna change until citizens go to war with these police and government officials...there have been no improvements on stopping something like this from happening none 20 shots! One of those bullets could of hit someone else but they would have liked that but really one shot in the leg could have knocked him down and they could of investigated what he had. Kids die in schools weekly now and nothing has changed. Now they want to give guns to teachers as well. What’s next four armed soldiers per non white block?

Id still put a slug in the back of your head if I see you breaking into my car.

What area of Sac is this? I’ve lived there briefly but before I was old enough to go out on my own.

You sound like you come from one of those stand your ground states that still practicea that law. I hope you know just cause you shoto someone dead doesn't mean you'll be left off Scott free. You have to give a proable cause for just shooting someone. But I guess using logic and reasoNing, doesn't dwell in your Brain.

You could juse let off a warning shot in the air without acting irrational.

Stupid mofos out here and I don't even own a gun.

Exactly

Yet they carefully arrest school/church/movie theater shooters with known weapons and actual guns. Doesn't make sense.

The only solution IMHO is taking away their pension and their livelihood. You take that away and officers will only have their own backs. Right now cops with known issues can get fired from one department and jump right in with a neighboring county. Apparently a lot of their disciplinary acts are closed book from job to job.

In almost every other job sector, if you suck at your job, you get demoted or fired. If I was a police captain and saw 1 of my officers shoot first and ask later, he's a safety liability and deserves to be fired. I remember one shooting where there were six or seven officers and only one drew his weapon and shot the suspect 7-8 times. In their eyes right now, he's not a fellow officers safety liability. In reality he's a liability to average citizens. I don't think there's a single consequence for shooting anyone. I feel 95% of these cases are proven justified. The other 5% drag on and they still keep their benefits and pension when found guilty. Sadly there's nothing we can do.

Other times, we hear of hear guys who have killed a unarmed person also draw his weapon and shoot it questionably in the past. No idea how there isn't a public committee oversight for police actions.

My city has a budget deficit yearly yet pay out wrongful death lawsuits in the millions each year. Why are we liable for that crap?

I am absolutely of this opinion. You will be shot. You want to steal or destroy something... Go do it at a store or public place. Go rob a bank. When it comes to people's family and property that they have poured years of life into obtaining and protecting, you are deciding that yours means nothing. Race aside. Thieves lives DONT matter.

I guess I'm different. I'm not snatching someone's life over a car window.

No thanks. Don't want that on my conscience. They're not trying to kill me. They're trying to scoop quarters from my ashtray to buy some dope.

Some of you are psychopaths, have nothing to lose in life, or have listened to too many G Unit albums in your lifetime.

Killing someone for breaking car windows...what the @#$@$? ??? Either fight that person off or take the L.

People trying to steal @#$@ was commonplace in college, and I've definitely ended up in a lot of fights/confrontations for that, but never once did I feel like the person needed to straight up die for trying to steal my 2007 iPod Nano.

Those 2 officers were scared to death.
You could hear it in their voice and the aftermath.
It's why they lit him up, fight or flight.
No composure and not enough experience.
I chalk it more up to that than racial bias.

The dude in the chopper was gassing them up too.
"He's running"
"He's now looking in another car...."
:smh:
Should be levels to Policing.
Guns for everybody is scary AF.

That troll is In here with such tasteless takes. Take that racist ish elsewhere. He knows what he’s doing smh.
