No one hates Star Wars movies more than Star Wars fans.

After sleeping on it, I'm on the liked but not loved crowd. I'll see it again a second time to see if it still holds up.

I always said this was a good movie but for people saying this has no flaws or this is up there with empire come on now. I like this movie but it’s not great. The force awakens was a better Star Wars movie then this one

Agreed my man. Even to a casual fan this is a 3-3.5/5 film. RT critics whack for their 90%+ scores.

The milk scene and the face Luke makes after he drinks the milk :smh:

They didn’t want him to be great fam.

It has flaws; every movie does depending on who you ask. It's just not the trash some people are making it out to be.

Critics spoiled this one by giving it ridiculously high scores. Should've scored it appropriately in the mid to high 70s and people's expectations would've been tapered.

Some of you guys are critical as hell

Reading some of the audience reviews on RT... do these people enjoy anything in life?

I saw it a second time today and still loved it. Sure I get the complaint with Finn and Rose but it's whatever. The rest of the film more than made up for it to me.

People act like episodes 4-6 weren't corny and never had cheesy lines. People act like Mark Hamils acting in a New Hope was great when it was mediocre at best. In a New Hope and a lot of ESB Luke comes off as extremely whiny. In my opinion Daisey Ridley does a much better job acting than Hamil did in those first films. I'm sure I'll get backlash on that statement.

People just cling to what they know and love to be critical and hate on everything new, same with music.

anyone else cringe when luke use the word "laser sword" haha correct me if im wrong but I dont recall them calling it that in prior movies

Anakin used the term "laser sword" in The Phantom Menace when he was asking about Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber in the dinner scene.

The thing with the Finn and Rose arc is how much we get to see Finn progress. When we first see him, the first line is, "Where's Rey?" And then his goal after that is to get the beacon as far away from the Resistance so that Rey won't get caught in the middle of everything going down. Up to that point, Finn wanted no part of the Resistance or what they were about. Everything he went through with Rose at the casino exposed him to the truths of what goes on in the galaxy. He sees what goes down with the kids and how the rich get richer by taking advantage of the ore industry. Then with DJ double crossing him and Rose for a payday just pushes Finn further to not wanting to run any longer.

By the end of Finn's arc, he's willing to self sacrifice to save the Resistance. While Rose does prevent him from doing that, it shows how far Finn has come. He goes from running from the First Order to taking them head on, literally.

I never said it was trash. I’ve always said it was a good movie. But come on there is some stuff that make you cringe. Like the little boy using the force to grab the broom. Han solo said it best you just don’t use the force. Anakin skywalker born from midichlorians had to be trained to use it. A good movie 3*s maybe 3.5. Behind ESB. Rots, Anh and TFA IMO

I still have to figure out if I like the risks this movie does take. I came in expecting a much different film, wanted that too.

What I know was trash was Finn and Rose plot to that casino planet. Really was unnecessary and if it wasn’t in the movie there wouldn’t be anything missing.

This movie had a certain theme of setting up some potential great moments and not really providing the right payoff:

Luke getting the lightsaber (survived all the way from the prequels to just be tossed initially as a MCU like joke)

Rey really not being anybody and truly being a Mary Sue in some ways.

Snoke not being anybody.

Finn on the verge of committing a great sacrifice to being saved then receiving a kiss that was not really earned.

Rose dying but not.

I can go on, and these were some risks. Right now, I don’t really know how I feel about that. Maybe I’ll change after a few viewings.

Empire was divisive initially too but time revealed it to be probably the best movie ever. I need to give TLJ some time...

Yeah, it's not bottom of the barrel, but it definitely is lower tier as far as I'm concerned.

Hopefully, this movie will be the Iron Man 3 of the SW franchise where it's nothing but classics after. Minus Thor 2:lol:

I was sooooo mad. I was unsure if I heard it correctly. Imagine how mark felt saying that.

As much as I would love to say they’re playing with her lineage and going to give us a real answer in 9, I feel like the end scene with broom boy solidifies what Kylo said to be true. She’s a junkard baby. ‍♂️

Anakin was a slave and although born from immaculate conception, what's wrong with junkyard baby background?

The people complaining about this film were expecting "The Empire Strikes Back". Instead they got totally different storyline which was the point. This film was not predictable at all. I can see some irrelevant parts or things that the true SW heads could do without but those parts are still better than a useless boring 30 minute pod racing scene.

I thought the film was good, it kept me going and wasn't what we have seen before in a SW fim. The genius behind George Lucas and the original 3 films was that he chose to tell the story in the sequence that he did and built anticipation for so many years. The prequels were executed very poorly other than "Revenge of the Sith" and even that went overboard with the CGI. We loved SW so much that we gave the prequels a pass.

I will say that this film had more of a "Return of the Jedi" conclusion feel to it but that only means that JJ has a variety of ways he can take the next film.

That pod racing scene was straight up awesome in the movie theaters and better then that casino crap. At least it showed us Anakin has potential as the only human who can race them
