It's already almost 1.5, and doesn't hit China for another week and a half.

They are worth half a bil alone. So that's nearly 2 billion.

And still maybe 2 months to add another one.

Avatar hit 2.8

This is getting 3 billion. No doubt in my mind.

I just want Avatar out of that top spot, feels like they cheated their way to it with a slightly above average movie that had 40 dollar tickets because of rejuvenated IMAX 3D

I don't see how riding that big turkey, the mech suit vs Gamora, flying scenes, the big war at the end was not awesome.

2 bil sure, easily. More than that, maybe.

But to add a whole billion is going to be harder than you think.

To get to 2.8, Avatar had tons and tons and tons of repeat viewers.

What the hell you think Star Wars is doing?

I got people coming out of the movie, getting into another line.

We have people in here on their 3rd and 4th viewings.

I'm going to my 3rd this weekend.

It's been out 13 days.

Was Avatar the first movie to take full-adv of IMAX 3D?

As a movie, it was just ok... a bit overrated IMO.

anyone see TFA in 3d? was it worth it?

I have already seen it but I am taking my son to see it again and want to know whether to go see it in 2d again but EVX or pay extra for the 3d.

TIA

Film is already 10th, All Time, worldwide. 10th. It's been out less than 2 weeks.

And it hasn't opened in China yet, the #2 movie market on the planet. And it's 10th.

I mean........

It's at 575+ million US
It's at 589+ million International
China should get it another 500+ when it reaches there.

And the film doesn't have to be pulled outta theaters til March-April.

Not to mention, some countries (like the UK) had their theaters closed for full days for the holidays.

It's possible it will reach 1.5 billion before it hits China, and then it will FLY past 2 Billion. After that, it has the rest of January, February, and March to inch along another billion. Considering it brings in 2+ in 3 weeks, I think it can manage another 1 bil in 3 months.

We'll see real soon. :pimp:

I saw it in 3D Saturday, there was really only 1 really cool part, that had people reaching their hands up in the air for a moment. Outside that, it didn't do a whole lot for me. Still enjoyable, but not sure it was worth the extra money.

I'm going to try and hit the IMAX screen this weekend if I can. So I'll have 2D, 3D, and IMAX and see it every which way I can.

I saw it in 3D. It's pretty cool, but I've never thought 3D was ever worth the price personally. There are some cool scenes that stick out. I'm sure your son will enjoy it.

2D IMAX is an option where you're at? Can't find a theater anywhere around me that still does that. Only options are Standard 2D or IMAX 3D.

We get it CP, TFA is raising up the all-time list pretty fast.

This isn't really anything new. Since 2000 on we've seen several movies repeat this phenomena.

Avengers AOU just rose crazy high as well. Your beloved FF franchise. Both those came out this year. Oh and let me not forget Jurassic World too.

Yall should expect more of this from good movie franchises. Records are meant to be broken.

Taking the in-laws

I know you guys have talked about theories but I'm not going back 700 replies

I think Luke/Plagueis(Snoke) had a battle and while that's going on Kylo and the Knights of Ren demolish the rest of the padawans. Rey is there, but since Kylo stuggles with the pull of the light side, spares her, wipes her mind and drops her off on Jakku. Those two battles happen in two different locations..

When Luke gets back, he sees the destruction (the scene where he puts his hand on R2). He then assumes Rey is dead and goes away because he's failed..

The last scene shows Luke standing what looks to be a grave. I think that's his makeshift grave for Rey. That would explain the tears and shock on his face at the sight of Rey.

The reason I'm pretty sure Snoke is Plagueis is because they share the exact same character song. "Snoke" on TFA soundtrack and "Palpatine's Teachings" on Ep. III soundtrack.

Plus they refer to Snoke as "wise" in the movie.

That isn't my point.

My point was 1 bil Domestic, and 3 worldwide. Numbers never seen before, ever.

I don't care about the "fastest to __" stuff, I'm only using that cuz that's all we have right now with some countries still not showing it yet, we don't have full totals to use, only to this point, etc.

In the end tho, 1 and 3 were what I predicted when I said IF the movie was good, it would not be stopped. JJ nailed it, and now it's showing. And I'm happy to knock Avatar the **** outta here.
