South Park Season 19 Thread 9/16

Hulu has the uncensored episodes.

There is straght up social commentary which essentially uses current events like the bruce jenner episode. Then there are episodes that touch on an issue in a more timeless manner.

For example, south park touched on transgender issues years ago. Kyle became black and his dad became a dolphin. It's incredible

"Ohhhhh, you want a Negroplasty"

That episode is gold.

That episode is more relevant than ever right now, if you've watched any of Caitlyn Jenner's new reality show. Garrison in that episode was so over the top trying to "be female" (if that makes sense). The similarities are striking.

Agreed, that episode coming out last or this year would have been perfect.

The pregnancy and abortion angle made it so crazy.

I remember his dad being the dolphin, just not the negroplasty thing.

I feel like that was a reveal at the end. During the ep he was just not getting any play on the basketball team. Then near the end he got the surgery which looked like his skin was blackened and he had bones implanted at his joints.

It was horrific looking :lol Especially with him smiling.

Imagine if they kept continuity with that :lol

The kicker was that just because he became taller and blacker didn't make him good at basketball. Similar to how Garrison couldn't have a period just because he had gender reassignment surgery. There are fundamental things about the human body that surgery can't change, which can leave a person still feeling unfulfilled. Garrison also alienated those around him, which all led to him becoming a man again a few seasons later. It's a pretty good character arc, really.

Episode has alot of potential.

I am loving the continuity. They have been around forever so why not?

Before "simpsons did it!" That was only with certain things like Mr burns being shot or Thirllhouse's parents being divorced. This long continuity thing coukd be great.

Yeah, I didn't laugh as much this ep.

Totally got what they were going for and what they referenced but the lulz weren't there like the past 2 eps.
