Shattered Backboard 1 2025

For those of you who have the original release, is the leather quality THAT much better than the typical release? Or was it just among the best we'd see on an AJ1 at that time?

the sail was soft and buttery in hand but rest of the shoe seemed standard. I'm also not a huge fan of that soft nutsack leather. doesn' t look good with heavy wear. the black leather also glittered and don't know what that was about.

Judging and based on the current prices on StockX and Goat, looks like there might be a decent amount of pairs for all of us. According to the past releases for other limited shoes, the prices should be at least 400+ before release date.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I hope my analysis is correct.

I'm considering these since the '15's are so high at resale, but can't get concrete info on when they're dropping. There's not anything about them on SNKRS upcoming for July so far.

Is there black leather on modern AJ 1 retros that doesn’t glitter? Seems like the coating they use leads to it.

What production years does this glittering occur on? I thought I read somewhere it was on releases that came out at least ten years ago.

I was reading on another thread here that it was due to the leather drying out. If you wipe it down with water, it'll come back. I'll have to check on mine but I bought leather conditioner, I think it was. This was suggested by another person on here.

I get that, but I don't believe it's an issue with the more recent releases of AJ1's (or perhaps I'm wrong about that).

They’re looking pretty good in my opinion. Hopefully there’s no hype for them, so resale prices stay on low end, and so getting them on release day will be easier, this go around.

The leather looks comparable, and the swoosh is bigger on the new mold. I honestly think people are using the excuse that they are not as good as the originals to justify the fact that they just arent moved by these any more in general. The only 1's that truly matter now are OG's and collabs. As far as hype goes. We buy what we like regardless over here.

Yeah, upon further review, I think I may try and cop these for the anniversary gift.

True. I haven't had a newer release do this as of yet. Maybe too soon, but this glitter on mine happened a couple of years ago (maybe longer).

Which Jordan 1's are these that you've had this glitter issue on?

It was probably a 4-5 year run (at least) of Jordan 1's that have it. Seems as if the black based pairs are really the only ones affected by it.

Thanks. My oldest pair of Jordan 1's are the Chicago L&F's, so I would assume I'm in the clear (for now).
