Republicans are being stupid on C-SPAN again
"This is what you get when you get rid of Trump!"

"We need to bomb the Russians!"

Putin is a fool though: sent his ambassador to the UN emergency meeting to distract folks while his troops knew they were going to march on Kyev. Peace on the global stage depends on a minimum amount of predictability, and dude just chucked that notion out of the window.

WRT the Taiwan situation, the argument that Russia has a right to invade a country to protect the independence of separatist regions could be used by the US against China. China openly supporting the actions of Putin would give the US the ability to legitimately disregard the "one China" policy that denies the use of a military option in Taiwan.

Not that this matters much. Russian oligarchs have definitely moved their money by now.

The memorandum included security assurances against threats or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

As a result, between 1994 and 1996, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons. Until then, Ukraine had the world's third-largest nuclear weapons stockpile,[2][3] of which Ukraine had physical, but not operational, control. Russia alone controlled the codes needed to operate the nuclear weapons[4][5] via Russian-controlled electronic Permissive Action Links and the Russian command and control system.[4][5] Formally, these weapons were controlled by the Commonwealth of Independent States.[6]

Just a bad series of events all around. It this point it seems like Ukraine is fighting for it's freedom.

Many lives will be lost and many more affected for no reason but the cynical and heartless maneuverings of the world's richest man

If anyone is tempted to succumb to the Putin-friendly narratives peddled by MAGAs and Greenwaldistas, read Kremlin Rising to see what it means to have a truly autocratic leader who is indifferent to the worst kinds of human suffering

Imagine a more competent Trump with no one checking his worst impulses and no fear of having to cede power

I discovered this channel, Johnny FD, when he was a guest on Bald and Bankrupt’s YouTube channel. He lives in Ukraine and for months denied that Russia was going to invade. He said it was lies spread by the West. He even appeared on RT denying the invasion.

Today he did a live where he’s still caping for Russia even though he says he didn’t see it coming. Even though everyone in his social media and YouTube channel comment sections have been telling him to get out for months. This dude Johnny even visited the US recently to see his relatives and chose not to stay.

Welcome to Eating Crow 101

The impending sanctions need to be brutal and will cripple the Russian people that were already struggling.

If we review everything Putin has claimed in the past couple weeks it’s all been false.

On the other hand, US Intelligence’s knowledge of Putin’s operational intent has been dead on

The Biden Administration reversed decades of extreme classification decisions to release this much advance information, and if nothing else it stripped away all pretense of justifications that Putin tried to build

Us intel has been spot on down to the day of invasion.
