School me on iPads

Does iCab have a designated download manager? I just want to know if there's any way to save .rar, .avi, or .mp3 files from this browser and play the file..

I get a fair amount of use out of it at home also because I get tired of having my MacBook in my lap because it'll get hot or I just don't want to carry it as much.

I was skeptical as heck at first--hence me only just now getting one--but it really does serve as a decent device that sits right between the functionality of a phone and a computer.

I'm posting from it.
This post alone convinced me to get one lol good job

Honestly with the iPad I havent ever had an issue with Flash because I dont use flash games and I use Atomic Web browser which converts majority flash videos.

And if you trying to get something now I`d say get an iPad 1 and flip it for the iPad 3.

 That really sucks for you.

It has basically been turned into a $500 netflix streaming device for my 3 year old. Its ok but I don't really use apps and I'd rather use my chromebook for internet browsing. The iPad crashed way too much for my liking.

OP I was completely against them at first but after I read more about them I decided to get a first gen (no point in the 2nd for me)

I'd have to say it is very convenient. Sometimes I just pull it out to browse the web or look stuff up quickly if I don't feel like getting out my laptop. Also, don't know your age, but if you are still in college and like to browse the internet in class it is way more convenient than a laptop IMO. Plus there are tons of free games and apps to use. I'd say if you don't plan on putting a ton of movies/music on it go with one of the smaller memory ones, they can be had for cheap off craigslist. Don't listen to the clowns who have never owned one shoot it down

Cool to have / Not worth the price.

If you can get a great deal on one go ahead & get it

Fits my needs perfectly. I'll admit its not for everyone but I like it a lot more than a standard laptop.

Flipboard keeps me occupied for an hour.  I put my favorite sites on it and just page through them all with its super cool RSS newspaper like feed.  Look through twitter, niketalk, iphonedownloadblog, engaget, sneakernews, etc

This. I use Flipboard a lot and Taptu, but I like Flipboard better.

Games: Street Fighte, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Pool, Air Hockey, WWF (The100kshow), angry Birds, 7 words, Hanging With Friends, Dead Space, Infinity Blade, X-Men, Solitaire, Table Tennis

Social Networking: Twitter app, Friendly for FB

Lifestyle: Engadget, MTV News, Taptu, Vevo, Flipboard NBA courtside

News: CNN, USA today, AP News, Fox News, Bloomberg, ABC News

Shazam, Iheartradio, Netflix, Crackle, dropbox, Word Lens, Keynote, Calculator

Is Atomic free? I paid for Skyfire for flash and it's not bad but you know.....

Cereally though. The iPad is super useful, it's the future. I'm in Med school and I'm trying to move everything to digital. Books, notes, everything. I can't even write on a sheet of paper anymore. There are kids with multiple 5" thick binders running around when I have everything they have plus more right on my iPad. I can also use it as an additional monitor for my laptop, control my homes A/V system and lights.

The people calling it a toy and a big ipod touch have no clue how to use one or can't afford one. You're underestimating its capabilities, they're endless. Greatest electronic buy ever.
