Robert Kraft: Tom Brady is better than Joe Montana

Terry went from overrated to severely underrated. Regardless one of the best big game QBs, he always stepped up and after some disastrous years his game/stats took off. Those first couple years crippled his career stats, but anyone that saw him play knew he could ball

that bomb to lynn swann is epic , got knocked damn near unconscious and 4 rings is not to be taken lightly

dude was elite , strong case for top 10

rice had the luxury of playing with arguably the greatest football player of all time for 2 of those superbowls.

and to those who say joe was undefeated in superbowls.......he only went to 4 , and had 3 straight one and ones

in 85' 86' 87'...brady went to 5 already and played against a top tier giants

defense and both games where very close and could have gone either way , better team one that night. so

no complaining here

until brady gets his 4th agreed ....montana>brady

no argument there...but joe cool was far from untouchable ...3 straight one and dones

should not go unoticed

I always like to bring up that Tom Brady could very well have 5 total SBs if not for a crucial, uncharacteristic Wes Welker drop and a once in a lifetime reception (play) from David Tyree.

No camera, no victory..........or no Vinatieri, no victory. Either one champ.

The one time your actual use of "Champ" is appropriate. You can't give all the credit to a clutch K. Made a difference, sure.

You believe Spygate made that much of a difference between victory and defeat? I don't.

everyone was doing that kid

Unfortunately for you champ, EVERYONE else wasn't on trial. Just the Patriots, and they were found guilty on all charges.

You believe Spygate made that much of a difference between victory and defeat? I don't.

Is that so?? I'm going to say this one more time then..............no camera, no victory. Until otherwise, my statement stands as correct.

Deuce: Does Bountygate take away from the Saints' SB as well then?

To me NO. Reason being to me there is a difference between intentionally trying to hurt another player, which of course is wrong but injuries themselves are apart of the game. Versus deliberately stealing plays and signals from another team and using that as an advantage to stop another team from scoring or just stopping a team period. In essence, injuries are apart of the game, cheating is not, or shouldn't be. One of them is alot harder to prove than the other.

I say all that to say this just to clarify for people out there. Brady is a great quarterback, I'm not going to take that away from him. In my eyes he's Top 10, not necessarily in my Top 5 but I can see how and why some folks would have him in their Top 5 but I wouldn't. Is Brady touching Montana......................not a chance in hell.

No point in arguing with Duece honestly this dude is the most stubborn cat on this board.

That being said, i agree with him to a point. The Patriots superbowls are tainted and i think about that **** every single day and it kills me. Everytime someone mentions the 3 rings its the first thing i think of :{

BUT even after spygate, the Pats have seen unparalleled(sp) success and will continue to dominate. Until Tom Terrific wins number 4, his first 3 will always be questioned. For me though, if he wins another one then im good. And we all know hes gonna win another one.

Since it's been established that it's Montana > Brady

I always see people put Brady > Manning and I've always wondered why. ASIDE from 2 more rings, how is Brady better than Manning? Not today, but overall.

if they both had 0 rings, would it still be Brady > Manning?

Users with patriots avy/sig need not respond

I used to be a Brady guy with this argument but I honestly think Manning is the best of this generation now as I get older. Brady has had the advantage of playing with the best football coach of all-time imo, while Peyton is virtually is own coach. Peyton has had great recievers but he is so much the engine of the offense and had only a great D for a couple of years.

I just hate how the ring argument chokes the life out of sports discussions, its just a shortsighted way to view a comparison.

From what I've seen, most people on this board have Manning > Brady. There was also a 4-5 year stretch on S&T where the consensus would flip between them, sometimes even amongst the same people each time.

Personally, I feel people should worry about this **** after their careers are over. They still have some years left so don't let the nonsense cloud you from how great they are at what they do. I enjoy watching them go to work...unless Peyton is facing the Pats.

First point I'd like to make is not mentioning Tony Dungy as a great NFL HC is a disservice to the man. He's no Bill, fine.

Secondly, Brady made the likes of Branch and Troy Brown look good in comparison to Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark.

Peyton is certainly more methodical at the line and surgical with his football knowledge and exploiting weaknesses. But that aside and the two ring advantage for Brady aside, I'm still taking Tom in most areas for a Q and I'm far from a Pats fan.

he wasnt exactly tearin it up with the browns.

I don't like that argument because Bill needs Brady like Brady needs Bill. Same with Brees and Payton, that will show tremendously this season with the year-long suspension. McCarthy and Rodgers.

Brady - 17
Montana - 16

If the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year then how do you guys weigh the following:

Tom Brady 4-2 in Super Bowls. Same number of wins as Joe and two more appearances than Joe (for now). Meanwhile Joe was undefeated in SB games.
