Robert Kraft: Tom Brady is better than Joe Montana

Regarding Spygate, they were caught in 2007. Since then there really hasn't been much of a drop-off at all so I don't know how big of a deal it really was. The Patriots excellence has still continued even since then. I do believe Brady needs to win another Super Bowl to truly silence that talk. However, he still has 3 or 4 more years left so I see him being way ahead of Montana after it is all said and done. When I say that I mean his resume (statistics, wins, super bowls etc.) Obviously, it's not that clear cut but it's going to be hard to argue against Tom when his career is finished.

Putting on my flame suit right now 8o

He'd better say that, Tom and Bill are the only reasons his franchise is worth a damn.

Even after spy gate my boys still dominate....both games against the giants were close as **** w/ 2 miracle catches to win New York the game...just give Brady his props..and tha spy gate **** benefited the defense not the offense...patriots offense didn't become explosive until after that ****......

Brady put up huge numbers with short receivers...he put up even better numbers when he played with his first dynamic receiver which was randy moss...Montana had rice for so many years...Brady was never that lucky....and he does all this while being married to the highest paid super model in the world...while you may laugh at that I find it pretty cool how that distraction never damage his game...but it's a testament on how supportive Gisselle is to let that man cook...but when she threw Wes under the bus it was pretty obvious :lol

^ You can say the Tyree catch was a miracle but the one to Manningham was just a great throw and catch.

If Brady does finish this year he would be the GOAT IMO and I don't like the Pats at all. You can't deny greatness.

I don't know about this whole miracle catches thing relative to Brady potentially being undefeated in Super Bowls. And that's really only to humor the argument that Montana went undefeated in Super Bowls. I don't think that necessarily reflects who was the better quarterback.

We could just as well say that Brady's 5 appearances (maybe 6 here soon) mean more because of how he has now taken three different types of teams to the Super Bowl.

The first, an overachieving, yet reliable group of receivers that played a big part of Brady's success, along with a dink and dunk, methodical approach that always had NE in a position to win in the end. More notably, doing it on final drives to secure the W.

The second team being absolute juggernauts on offense who's aerial attack beat you short, deep, and pretty much all over the field. As explosive as we've ever seen in the history of professional football.

Now his third team in which TE's are heavily utilized as the main down-the-field/redzone threats and really only one consistent producer at receiver. Sprinkle in some do-everything RB's and you have a myriad of options for a gameplan.

I don't think this is the landslide in Joe's favor that people make it out to be.

Was he the one who led the team down the field? Nope! The kicker is only an extension of the offense. The dirty work to make Vinatieri the hero was multiple drives orchestrated by Brady.

That kicker argument, if you want to call it that, is tired. It would mean I could just do this...

Someone with a much more direct correlation in actually assisting a quarterback achieve the win.

Ah nice, someone not totally biased and stuck in 80's football lore. Good post a few posts up above Paul. It's not out of the realm to have this discussion. And people dont realize the fact that hes taken different types of teams to the big game. It's amazing how much the players around him change, yet he stays consistent and is able to make due with whatever is around him. Last night we saw that to a lesser degree. An entire week's game plan built around Gronk and Woody...both go down pretty much immediately, and the offense doesnt miss a beat. Part of that is depth and coaching, but a lot of that is the QB.

Personally I'm not going to sit here and say Brady is better than Joe. I was six years old when Joe won his last SB. I was even younger during his other great years. So I really don't know how I can say "oh one was definitely better than the other". The 4 for 4 in Superbowls arguement seems to be all thats left for Joe from a lot of folks on here. Regardless, what I will say is that Tom is the greatest QB I've watched during my time as a football fan.

So now Brady is better than Montana because Brady is married to a super model.......LOL. Some of you dudes are a bunch of FRAUDS.

Lol it's funny how people bring up spy gate but even after it was discontinued we continue to rack up 10+ win seasons

Cue the haters gonna hate gif

This is pretty amazing when you think about it.

All without playing most of his career with THE best wide receiver of ALL TIME.

this really needs to be added to the equation when talking about montana.. because i know alot of people dont really know the game of football and only repeat whatever they hear said on ESPN

but people either forget or dont have a clue of how good those 49ers' defenses were in the on their championship teams

8 years with him and 6 without on SF is pretty even. And 2 years he was hurt the majority of the time so really ends up even

As far as defense, nobody forgets the SF D was great, but then again the D that Joe had to face was much nastier back then instead of the soft D today where the players can't do much of anything. Not saying Tom wouldn't dominate in the 80s but he is part of the throwing era where QBing is made as easy as it has ever been.

I have Tom at 2 so not 'hating', for me I just have a hard time with gushing over QB numbers now when you see the types of QBs that are throwing 4k with somewhat ease

You act as if Brady carried every team he has been on and the Pats didnt have incredible defenses either.

Toms first SB win? They held the greatest show on turf to 17 points. The Pats Brady led offense was good enough to get destroyed in TOP, was awful in 3rd down conversions, and the win was largely aided by a pick 6 and Adam Vinatieri. Brady was named the MVP of the game simply because there really was no one else to give it to. His monster stat line 145 passing yards and one touchdown sure carried his team right?

Yes he dominated his second Superbowl win, and played well in his third, but please dont make it seem like Brady was leading a team that didnt have good defenses too.

no i'm just saying he never let it distract his game.....most qbs who go that route turns to **** until they break up
