288 can't be a limit. This is BS in my opinion

If we had to start all over again with somebody else, there would be ZERO caps available in 2014.  Lead time, remember?  New Era doesn't spit these things out overnight - and, believe it or not, I don't think there are many businesses chomping at the bit to do all the work to sell and ship these items just to raise money for charity.  

If you don't believe that 288 "can be a limit," take it up with @eCapCity
.   As has been established consistently throughout the course of this thread, you were going to find some cause for criticism regardless.  Had the number been 600 you'd complain.  Had it been 1,000 you'd still probably find a way to complain.  Personally, I appreciate the opportunity we have to make these available to more members than ever - and to raise far more money for charity than we did previously.  

The bottom line is this:  288 > 0 - and zero is what we'd have this holiday were it not for Cap City.  

Make enough and I won't complain, I have no other issues with you or this project. I just want those who got screwed last time (including myself) to get the hat they deserve and will proudly wear and not keep on the shelf and take pics to say hey I got a NT hat and you didn't

A lot of those who missed out years ago are gonna miss out again. Again I just want those who deserve a hat to get one

I just came across this thread. I feel like a fool seeing this was announced in July.

Just reading the last few pages, I can confirm that 288 is the most New Era allows. Working in a sneaker boutique years ago, I was a designer (along with two other guys) when it came to making New Eras for each season. Back then, our problem was 288 was too much. We wanted a smaller amount, so we had to divide that 288 in various colorways on one design.

EDIT: I'm sure a second batch of 288 could be done after, possibly for a S/S release. Just an idea.

Footlocker inc sells to you for $6.

Reseller sells it to you for $12.

Nike sees that resellers can sell for $12...

Why not creep up slowly to that mark.

To build hype and get people interested nike has to do a hell of a lot more than simply make the shoes limited. For one. They have to pay people like lebron james and kevin durant hundreds of millions of dollars just to get the ball rolling on new products

One possibility could be that we hold another group fundraiser - as we have for disaster relief - and say that, for example, a donation of $X or more would yield a charity badge (like previous drives ) and a non-transferable pre-order ticket, tied to your account.

but word meth, I know it's 3 months and all, but can we like do something incentive based for charities to get some made out of the production quota? Cuz this obviously puts a damper on the amount of money that will be able to be donated cuz we know that not everyone would donate strictly out of wanting to give back haha. Like obviously with the poll #s you could say that that's 500 donations easy if an amount of people were to flake when the hats drop.

So, first of all, the original release generated a significant amount for the Children's Defense Fund - and we're already talking about selling twice as many caps this time around.  We're looking at a good outcome here for charity regardless.  

We'll have to talk with @eCapCity  and figure out what's possible in terms of preorders.

Ideally, I'd also like to set a few aside for "merit-based" contests, where winners are determined by, say, generating high quality product reviews or some other criteria that would ensure the winner has made a helpful and valuable contribution to the community at large.  Giveaways would be separate from pre-orders, as those would be at our expense. 

It's still fairly early in the process, but we'll do the best we can to make as many NT members happy as possible - and as few resellers happy as possible.

If it's for charity, why not have everyone pledge a certain amount of money to for the charity and have that for a certain time period? Similar to the badge model we have when it comes to donations. That way you raise money you need and would have taken inventory of who participated and asked for their hat size? It works. It's non exclusive and you have to log in to contribute. That probably would have been the best idea. 

I'm not "that guy" but we saw this coming from jump, the parameters should have been set up like that all along to avoid any complaining.
