@@@ REEBOK @@@ SHAQ ATTACKS @@@

it is what happens when reebok sees nike putting out suns colorways successfully

More like the death trap.

They'll be going back to the graveyard soon just like FILA. They've released all the decent retros (OG colorways of Kamikaze II, Shaqnosis, Shaq Attaq, Questions) from their archives vault and what more do they have left in the tank?  Big Hurts won't sell, neither will the Kamikaze I. Sure the die hard fans will buy them, but highly doubt anyone else will, at least not for retail. I heard in some interview where they're considering bringing back the S. Carters....LMAO. You know they're drowning and running out of options when you hear that. Your time's up Swizzy. Your reign as "creative director" is gonna be short like leprechauns.

Pretty much this. They might as well do a general release of the White Shaq Attaqs and the Red toe Questions. They really think the strategy of limiting the best colorways will make the people that miss them get them Big Hurts or S. Carter's? I have never even seen anyone wearing Shaq Attaqs or Questions in the past 5 years. Nike is much smarter and understands that people outside of Niketalk need to know your kicks exist to sell shoes.

400

Waiting for these.

Is it just me or do those look like some knock off Air Flight Huaraches

It's just you, relax.
As much as I don't like the clown colorway's, I am grateful to Reebok for all the proper OG models, its being way too long and I almost lost hope that they are coming back.
Looking at the list of the releases for the next year I am super excited, if they get smarter and do an international GR releases, they will really stay in the game, there's far more overseas fans of the brand than the ones in the States.

I agree with you on some aspects but Reebok's archives are way, way deeper than Fila's. The Reebok diehards (and you know exactly who they are) are going to get the OG releases and be done with it. So in that sense Big Hurts and Kamikaze Is will do well but retro+ is an entirely different story. Reebok could have a good 3-5 years of 'first time' retros and after that it's anyone's guess how well the re-retro will do.

A lot of us who grew up with Reebok are in our late 20s or early 30s at the minimum. Buying multiples of the same shoe (even OG colourways) doesn't work anymore as we have space constraints, lack disposable income or simply don't want to jump through hoops to attain some of these kicks. I'd also dabble with some retro+ colourways but the execution on most of their retro+ is straight garbage.

Once again I agree with you sir, I am one of those die hard fans, I will buy all the OG's but the color+ ones, not so much, most of the times just because I want the shoes to be the same as I remember them 20+ years a go. And yes their archives are deep, there are soooo many models I want to see. Next year due to the $170+ for the J's I am retiring from that game, and I am focusing on the Reebok game.

I am a Reebok die hard fan. Just the Blacktops alone are enough to keep me as a fan. I surely do not want them to go to the "graveyard" and I'm sure that's not happening. They DO have a Large retro vault (http://only-sneakers.ru/category/reebok/, Adidas owns them and THEY are not going anywhere. Believe it or not, but Reebok does sell shoes outside retros and lifestyle. They are pretty successful with their fitness and crossfit wear. Nike is at the top of course but having a few competitors is good for them and the consumer. Take Reebok and Adidas out the fold and God knows how much Jordans and foams would cost at retail. What would stop them from putting that cost super high? Would be a lot of heads retiring before their prime LOL

Looking to get a pair of the whites, are there fakes/replicas out there that I should look out for?

NK it was the PEOPLE that were asking for a Mutombo retro. All these forums and blogs had folks asking for them. As far as OG c'ways...it's all this griping by "grown *** men" about shoes staying true to the OG. The smell must be on point too LOL. They gotta look EXACTLY like the OG or old heads won't buy them. I take it that IF the new c'ways that are labeled as "garbage" were OG c'ways....old heads would be all over them. That teal and pink Twilight pump holds that South Beach c'way that grown *** men were going crazy over. I guess not every shoe and color are for everybody. At the end of the day, we buy what we like. Reebok can't win with some people anyways. Peace

Not many people were asking for the mutombos to retro. Thats why it was a limited run and a bunch of pairs being held hostage on ebay.

Remember niketalk and other sneaker boards represent only a small percentage of sneaker buyers.

As for the od colorways sometimes keeping new colorways simple and basic is better to do than to put freakin four leaf clovers all over it.

I'm going to go with NK and say that the Mutombo retro is probably Adidas trying to market to hipster cats wanting to flaunt their 'African roots' with tribal prints. Mutombo's were not a popular shoe in OG form.

The problem with Reebok is that they've been a mess for the past decade and there were/are no Reebok employees from the 80s/90s left. Whereas with Nike they have 'lifers' who have risen through the ranks - so for the most part they stick to their roots. Adidas on the other hand has aligned itself with cornballs like Jeremy Scott and Reebok with Swizz Beatz - so for every OG colourway you get 4-5 'gaudy high fashion' or 'kids with adult sized feet' colourways.

^^

Since we're on the topic, I never had nor remember the Mutombos when they first dropped. But after seeing the retro versions of the OG color on NT recently, I have to say it might be on my list of top 5 ugliest shoes of all time. I think thats what Banks was talkin bout when he said "Ish could get uglier than the Master P sneaker"

Revisionist history my man. Outlet fodder from the 90s are now considered 'grails' and 'insta-cops' because of all these whack sneaker blogs, news sites, etc... hyping them up just for the fact they came out out in the 80s and 90s and have never been retroed. By that measure there is a whole lot of garbage from the 80s & 90s that needs to stay in the garbage.

And a lot of stuff that's never seen a retro, that needs to be brought back instead of the SAME EXACT **** every other year....

Y'all make some good points. It's subjective to each head. What you may want retro....there may be others that say no. Looking back....no one really thought retros would be getting this attention now. Outside of Jordans that is. With Reebok, they had some bad direction and lost some good people, some went to Nike. Their last owner Paul Fireman, had become senile and let the company fall. There's no way Reebok should have fell down this far as a athletic brand. They should own Adidas, not the other way around. It is what it is. They need some young designers, especially for the basketball division. They shouldn't rely on Bill Mcinnis as a designer for basketball shoes. Let him keep the Zigs for running. Just my 2 cents

I am sure almost all of the old heads, like myself would go for almost any retro OG that drops, but like I said before, I like the shoes to look exactly like they did 20 years a go, with no funny business and BS "new" technology".

This is true, but it's also people who want the sneakers of their youth.

Constantly in Nike Retro people clamor for ugly wack sneakers that didn't sell. Because you had or liked them, doesn't mean anybody else wants them.

I guess I just had good taste when I was a kid :\
