Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Joe said exactly what I was saying about LA. The sexual harrassment stuff has been there for years.

I don't think LA was doing funny stuff with Usher and Diddy and them.

What I do believe is them having parties...and making a young Usher or laface artist have sex with random chicks. Like having a 25 year old freak give top to a 13 year old Usher or something. Or encouraging that. I remember Usher or JD and Diddy speaking on it at some point.

Pretty much how Baby had stripppers giving Wayne top at 11 years old. Or as he put it, "Suck Lil Wayne lil ****" :lol :{

**** like this happens all the time when you got the blind leading the blind.

If they decide to let go of Joe, people will put two and two together and he'll be revered for shining light on the inner workings/dealings of the industry. His audience will grow. If complex let's him go, his podcast numbers go up and he's completely free on that platform.

Joe budden benefited the most from this show. More than complex and akademiks. It's almost charity at this point :lol

Ross album did a 105k first week.

It actually surpassed expectations sales wise.
damn shame too
him lying about being a co definitely hurt him
if he woulda jus been honest
it wouldn't have been a big deal
if that never came out or he just admitted it
i wonder if he would have had more success
because his quality of music went up after
but sales went down.
and he's one of the better artists to actually come out with in the last 10 years
probably has the best discography the last 10 years as well if I'm being honest

Yeah, but I'm sure Ross doesn't have a 360

You're basically signing a artist to lose money on

Ross isn't a cheap artist. It's not like you're getting someone like Krit or Cole who can produce his own stuff. You have someone who acts like a major artist that isn't.

Ross is going to expect certain entitlements, because he looks at himself as a bigger artist than he is.

It's why Def Jam was letting him walk.
Ross album did more in pure first week sales than literally every rapper not named Drake, Kendrick or Logic that has dropped this year

Also, MMG is almost definitely coming over to Epic once that Atlantic deal is over

I think he was more than likely moving around once that deal was over anyway. Remember he signed to Def Jam thru Slip n Slide and they been eating the whole time, Black Market was the last album.

Huh?

The CO thing came after Trilla and before Deeper Than Rap.

He skyrocketed into superstardom after that.

I know
and sales wise and "peoples perception" of dude changed of him
called him fake
peep past threads
people still hold that against him as a fraud
and i wouldn't say he skyrocketed to stardom
BUT
the quality of his music definitely got better
but ross never really been a star

Ross had the ball for a cool minute :lol. His 2010-2014 run was him being a "star".

Not only that...he cemented himself as a "boss" with MMG. Ross was scorching. Hell, I think MTV even named him THE "hottest mc" in 2011 :lol.

the only reason ross Nd mmg not still popping is somewhat bc of drake and before that the meek and wale drama

and then ofc music kinda changed w the soundcloud rappers

he shoulda signed kodak

he needs to drop everyone on mmg not named meek or wale and make some new major signings

where did stalley go he was boring but he had a few chill songs

but 2010-2012 he was probably one of the hottest rapper in the game under the usual suspects of the time

Music industry went away from the "I'm a boss" and "So sophisticated" type bangers to a more melodic state, which had a huge effect on MMG I think.

:rollin ross aint been no star
he been hot
but even at his hottest he wasn't a heavily featured artist
he has never even had a platinum album
i think port of miami is still his biggest album

EDIT: i think with the way streaming is set up he probably has had a platinum album now
but not sure

So Gucci never been a either? Cuz he ain't got no platinum albums. Ross and Gucci are in that same lane of Street rappers that was definitely stars but never sold alot of records. Part of that is the downloading era started taking off when they started and they never connected with the mainstream like that.

If you're using album sales as a measuring stick for being a star...you need to come join the rest of us in 2017.

All I do is win

That's just off the top of my head. That ***** was about as big as he could get at one point. 2010-2014....Ross was consistently dropping hits, #1 albums, being referenced heavily in pop culture, Forbes cash kings, social media presence, features and quality music.

He overcame that CO and 50 **** by putting out great music....and aligning himself with that whole Cash Money/Bad Boy/MMG/Khaled collective.

That **** had a complication album do 230k first week (Self Made Vol 1. :hat)
