QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

You the homie bc you always down with the squad...drop them Hawks and come on over to the Black & blue. Playa.

Ain't nobody gonna say nothing.

Never, but Cam is my dude and I rock with the Panthers for sure.

not dogging Cam one bit...but he's 100% got something that Luck doesn't have. a defense that can win a game.

i myself think Cam is a bit underrated as well. but i'm not putting him anywhere near Andrew Luck. not just yet, at least.

I'm just talking offensive side of the ball. Cam hasn't had much to work with and it's getting worse. Meanwhile he's put up some crazy stats.

Defenses don't make quarterbacks play better. Evidence shows no correlation at all.

I just hope folks remember what he's working with when his stats level off this year, which wouldn't surprise me.

fair enough about stats. definitely fair and part of the equation.

i look at it more from a winning games standpoint. winning games with a lackluster defense is tough to do. especially with today's offensive minded league. it's why what Luck is doing is pretty damn impressive, and more so than Cam IMO. Luck has yet to make a deep playoff run, but he and the Colts have won 11 games two years in a row with him at the helm. and there's no reason he won't continue that trend. granted, Luck has only been in the league for two years, but pretty no real complaints from these two seasons.

and at the end of the day, i like Cam a lot. no one should take anything i said as discrediting Cam. i want him to do well. but i need to see more before putting him ahead of Luck.

Killa has and will always be my first choice of QB just bc that's my QB. but after seeing that playoff comeback performance put on by luck, he is a step ahead of Cam. Luck is the absolute truth. Cam still has to improve on consistence. He misses a lot of easy routine passes where he overthrows bc of not setting his and throwing from all shoulders. I think something as simple as that will jump cam game up to a whole other level.

Thank you for the insider rankings post, Proshares.

With the discussion at hand...I love Cam. I personally would take a chance (if that's what we'll call it) on Cam as my QB just about every single time. Rooting hard for the guy.

With the overall quarterback argument though, I think we've learned from NT that it's hard to pinpoint and differentiate between certain Q's because of the teams they play for and by extension, the defense, offensive line, running game, wide receiver weapons, etc., that they do or do not have. I'm excited to see what Cam stirs up for the year.

Luck...Well...Last year when I did my own personal rankings, I based it on where I thought they were around the time when I posted, but also with a little mix of where I thought they were going in the year to come. Having said that, if I did that again this year, it would be hard for me to disagree with putting him at 5. Essentially, he's fringe top tier already and this coming season could just as well push him into the top tier as it could keep in on that fringe, but I feel pretty strongly in the fact that he's cemented in the top 10 right now for sure and more likely top 7. We can debate the rest, which is the beauty of this thread. :hat

Matt Ryan is my dude. You know that Keef.

I know :lol I just hope this Oline pans out for him, dude was getting the ball out in 2 seconds...we're desperate for a run game too..sucks knowing if we had a run game in 2012 we would've been in a Super Bowl

I really hate defending Dallas Cowboys, but I feel the need to with Tony Romo.

With Romo, it is really just a case of perception = reality for most people. The perception is Tony Romo is a choke artist, and his late game mistakes are a huge reason the Cowboys haven’t had much success in recent years.

I would argue that the opposite is true. Romo is the reason Dallas has had ANY success in recent years. People are so enamored by the handful of late game mistakes that Romo has made, that they completely ignore the fact that he has the highest 4th quarter Quarterback Rating IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. Of all time. Not a single quarterback has a better Quarterback Rating. Not Montana. Not Peyton. Not Brady. No one. For a formula that is as interception-biased as the Quarterback Rating is, shouldn’t Romo’s number be much lower than it is? Or maybe the perception of Romo throwing games away late is nothing more than fiction. And just to add to that, there isn’t a single QB in the NFL that has had more 4th quarter comebacks in the last 3 years than Romo.

The problem with the Cowboys is NOT Romo. The Cowboys have had a defense that ranked in the top 15 in points given up TWICE in Romo’s career. Twice. Yet he gets the blame. That’s not even counting the fact that his offensive line is terrible, and his running game at best has been inconsistent.

If the Cowboys didn’t have Romo, they would be drafting in the top 5 every year. He is easily a top 10 QB.

Luck has as many playoff victories as Ryan with less weapons.

I hate that Luck is in our division, wouldn't mind Ryan.

Your team would still lose in that sorry *** division...so it wouldn't make difference :)...playoff wins have nothing to do with who's the better QB, being that it takes a team to win a game.

why though? :lol

just to rustle jimmies?

No, because it's true...

Very VERY well said.

100% agree.

Agreed. He's been better than Eli for years that's for sure, and for some odd reason media loves Eli...then again attach the manning name to anything and the media will love it and hype

"Commode Seat Manning is by far the best toilet seat I've ever took a **** on bill"

I have no ill towards Ryan but I have trouble thinking of a game situation where is take him over Luck. Regular season game, playoff game, bad weather, indoor, etc. I think I'd go with Luck in every one

I liked Romo since my man William Parcells stood up for him and wanted him. Romo is a top 10 QB. A lot of the hate he gets is fair though. He's a big reason why Dallas has had opportunities over the last few years but he's also a big reason why they've blown opportunities. I won't argue with anyone placing him 8-10 on their list but I think some of you feel bad for him. He's always had a good O line up until last year and maybe the year before. Top 5 TE & WR. He's had plenty of chances and has blown a lot of them.

The way they set cam up to fail :x

The way they set up Luck to flourish :x

I have no issue with your choice...I don't have trouble taking Ryan over luck in those same situations...especially in the regular season....especially indoors

This. A lot of these Romo fans just act like all those blown games had nothing to do with him and it's everybody's fault except for the dude that's throwing the late game INT's. He's done a lot of good things for Dallas and he's done a lot of bad things when they are in crucial situations.

As far as the young QB's all of 'em are in the same boat to me. Cam, Luck, RG3, Wilson, Kaep. Luck is getting a lot of love right now but he still has moments where he tires to do too much. I would probably take him 1st outta that group put he's not that far ahead those dudes to me. Wilson is getting overrated as hell. He would definitely be my last choice. During the Seahawks run I think he did a good job of not turning the ball over and sticking to the script but that's all I can say about him.

Again, its perception versus reality.  Unfortunately in sports, perception IS reality for most people.  Look at you two posters.....talking about late game INTs and blown opportunities.  That is what you guys honestly believe.  You have the few mistakes he has made so engrained in your memories, that they overshadow all the good he has done, and you only see the bad.  I dont mean to come at you.  You share the same opinion as the majority. I just dont agree with it, nor do I think it is close to factual.

Romo has thrown twenty six 4th quarter interceptions in his entire career.  That means, he is throwing a little over three 4th quarter interceptions a season.  Three.

Tony Romo has made his biggest mistakes when his team needed him most.

You can't just throw out a 4th quarter ints in his career without context

How many games did romo cost them last year ... Up a min up by almost a Td and can't get a 1st down.... Romo is who he is . Its not a bad rep its the truth... Can't count on him when the game matters...he puts up meaningless numbers....

Just speaking on last year alone, I can only count the Packer game as a game that he made critical mistakes that cost his team the game.  But again, this is not the norm.  Romo has had far more come from behind 4th quarter wins than he has had games where a 4th quarter mistake has cost the team the game.  FAR more.
