Post Your New Eras*59-Fiftys*etc... VOL. INFINITY NOW W/ Henz0/Thunderchunk/Icy's FAQ ON PG.1

Lots of verified buyers buying manually and getting their orders cancelled? Can’t they look at addresses and ip addresses? I’m guessing bots are smarter than that. It does suck they had hundreds of willing shoppers at $60/hat and the boys will win out. Do they buy at resale? That’s the bigger question. I don’t think any website cares enough where hats are truly going as long as they sell out. I’m sure they can have serial #s on the hats and track who is reselling and cancel upcoming orders. I think it’s all lip service.

They say limit one hat per household per release and people still can’t hit? Then they say they’ll ban people? Lots of eBay dudes have dozens to hundreds of these types of caps for sale. Might as well keep it to in store at this point.

Given how the site is botted and they invoice to hat influencers, nothing of value would be lost if they kept it ISO. It also takes time they don't care to waste going through orders to verify. Once whatever stock is online sells out, that's all that matters. It's why Footlocker doesn't care about their site crashing for hours due to bots. They want the product gone.

Speaking of MyFitteds, this got me thinking of the ridiculous stories post a few pages back

This was good without a patch

Definitely didn't need a patch. Or if you were going to use that one it could've been a tad smaller IMO.

Fitted of the day for the game. Lids killed these chrome joints. This one > the hat club joint for sure.

Too cold. :pimp: :pimp:

Just found the best way to bend a brim using a zip tie.

That, rubberbands or a coffee mug. I saw places now selling these plastic brim benders.

I gotta personally say it's tacky to steal designs from other shops when it's an inspired design. One man is spending weeks or months looking at an inspiration for a hat and trying to execute it properly, just for another man with no creativity to copy and paste it to make a profit off someone else's hard work. That's lame to me but to each their own

It’s not that way tho. Once you submit a design to New Era it’s in tteee catalog for anyone to order. They’re not copying and submitting the same design, they’re just ordering from a catalog.

To me it’s whatever i just want a hat without getting beat over the head. Design is still a stretch for me tbh.

I’m with dj. It’s either all outrage or all acceptance. HC copied a few others with the crocodile pack lol. And not many said anything. But if the little guys copy, they’re the worst?

Once it’s in the database catalog, it’s up to these places to make their own investment in order quantity and numbers. Maybe hats die off in 2 months and they’re left with duds in 4 months when they arrive? Some waited until others were a success before trying again. But nothing is inherently copyrighted or trade marked. I’m all for cheaper products long term.

I personally think it's principle especially if you put your own spin on it. Hatclub has been called out for poaching as well. New Era gives you free reign to do what you want for better or worse and you don't have the creativity come up with something unique?

Yeah my beef isn't with the consumer. If you couldn't get the original version and a store is releasing a copy, by all means go buy it if it's something you want. My issue is with the retailer. Making profit off another man's work is corny. Idc if it's hats or anything else, make money off your creativity. Waiting for someone else to put their passion into something just to swoop in and steal it is lame.

They’ve built themselves a good name in the community and have lots of support. Being family owned he knows the loyal ones and the resellers so i don’t see him doing that. Now that’s what i want to believe cuz the owner knows about resell and he does limit those resellers that show up to their own sizing meaning you can’t buy a 1/4 then ask for a 5/8. He keeps it fair and does make sure the people eat.

Yesterdays drop was a ish show but i believe it’s because of a lot of newbie resellers that saw dollar signs cuz they know the hype.

They implemented simple new rules. No line up before 5 am no overnights. I heard people were there since 7pm Friday and posted up like 330am or so. I got there @ 520am and the line was the longest I’d seen it that early. I also know when i was walking dudes were arguing about their spot in line. So that’s why he came out and told everybody he switched it to lottery system since all the guys in the front didn’t bother to follow the rules. Now to me being that i was in the back it’s more better cuz i have a chance to touch depending on stock. Being a 5/8 i usually have a good chance but i heard varying stories about what he actually had. Hopefully i get that call today

As a person that use to work at a fitted boutique and design New Eras for a few years, I feel 50/50 on this subject. There was a period myself along with my co-worker were making ORIGINAL New Era designs and catch phrases. At the time (2006-2008 ) I guess the creations we were coming up were so good that boutiques in the USA and THE ACTUAL NEW ERA FLAGSHIP STORE started jacking our original designs.

Luckily, the owner/my boss was a very wealthy and influential person in the sneaker industry so he lawyered up and New Era were forced to remove out designs from their systems. But like a few guys have said, once you submit a design to New Era and it gets approved, it's available for anyone to use. A few years later I saw remixes pop-up but by that time I lost interest.

As a one-time designer I'd be pissed if I saw my work being jacked by lazy folks. But as a consumer, I don't have a bot and value my time not having to camp out. So if another spot copies a colourway and it's easier for me to buy it, then I can't knock the hustle.

UNDS’ed these today.

Finally caved and got myself a steamer to bend brims, and man, what a night and day difference. Using my hands, zip ties, rubber bands, etc. wasn’t bad, but using a steamer just makes it so easier.

I go slight bend but it has to be done as I wear them; otherwise it doesn’t feel right. I bought a used hat years ago that the prior owner bent and I could never unbend it and make it my own. Some older hats sort of natural bend or came sort of prebent. This is a new era of stiff bills.

Taking some inventory and storage checks. I’m gonna bust out a few comparison shots over the next few weeks

First up. 1989-1992 California angels
I don’t own any originals. These are all retros of various ages/companies

Can anyone spot the differences?

Both caps on the left have a truly flat logo (with a thicker halo outline)
Both caps on the right have a slightly raised logo.
Top left is a 2019 era HC exclusive with made in China poly
Bottom left is a 2022 era topperz with made in China poly
Top right is a 2006 era cooperstown made in USA wool
Bottom right is a 2021 era topperz with made in Bangladesh poly. It also is the only one with a grey under.

Historically speaking, the flatter logo is the correct version. The 2019 era hc exclusive is the big winner here

Both topperz have a double border batterman, which takes away from the whole aesthetic.

Lids is back? I wish their online interface let me buy outside of my non mlb city range lol. We have generic crap.
