\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

I have a Escort Max 360. Copped it a few months back when they had that "We will pay for your ticket" deal. Has saved me twice. But a lot of times cops have their radars off i guess.. at the end of the day its a radar detector and not a police detector.

Laser jammers are illegal in most states.

Great to hear! I've heard a lot of good thing from the Escort Passport 9500ix. It was between that or the BEL-STiR

Basically the top two currently in market, but the prices are similar.

Yep, not sure what you'll get ticketed or charged with if they find the jammers. But they are sold everywhere, just have to buy the right brand.

I bought like an $80 radar detector after reading its reviews and not having a clue on radar detectors. Stopped using it in 2 days and threw it out, way too many false annoying alarms.

I have that black cobra radar that I bought for dirt cheap. Def gives false alarms but has saved me a ton! Go figure after I got into my accident the plug broke and I went 1 month without it because I was too lazy to glue it back together(easy fix) I get pulled over on the highway. Didn't get a speeding ticket though

Looking to upgrade to an escort though

Not sure if he can actually tell it's a Cobra, so it can certainly be a different brand (brands which tend to leak) but this shows a bit of a demonstration on the other radar detector. Bel STi-R or Escort Passport 9500ix will be basically equivalent. This is a Bel.

There's more vides on testing and stuff, I actually just recently got more into radar detectors, so I'm still reading arounds, asking questions.

I usually drive on No X-band mode, disregard most K bands and SLOW DOWN for Ka and Laser bands.

If you can just hold on a save a bit for some Project Kics or Rays/Volk Racing lug nuts I would highly recommend those.

I think I've heard Muteki making some noise so you can definitely look into those as well. However, I would still recommend the former.
Appreciate that boss. Any go-to sites for those?

Seen a professor driving a green FD in my parking structure. Late 40s white dude.

Had to pull up and give him a thumbs up. Gave some revs.

God the rotary :x

Look up what spec lug nuts fit on your vehicle and look into the classified section of forums for official Vendors. They usually always give you a better price if they know you're a register user on that forum. Or just do a google search and see their reviews with people who own your same vehicle. You can also compare prices with Google search if you don't want to look through forums and contact vendors

Has anyone here ever had their final drive gears changed? I just found out about this mod and it seems like it would amazing :nerd:

It's mainly only good for people who are naturally aspirated, supposed to "give" you 10-15% more torque everywhere. I don't do any highway driving really, so I feel like it would be great for me. Anyone care to give some insight on this? Thanks

I had some 3.55s in my old foxbody 5.0. I also had a 5.0 fox with stock gears. The one with the 3.55s definitely accelerated a little quicker and was more fun to drive, and I'd get gears again as one of my first mods if I ever get another fox. That being said, 1st gear became almost useless.

I don't know much about the BRZs and FRS cars, so I don't know how great changing out the gears are in those cars. But here are the things to consider. Gears definitely affect highway driving. You'll be turning higher rpms then usual when driving on the highway, and if you have aftermarket exhaust, this can result in a loud droney car depending on your exhaust setup when cruising on the highway. Your mpg will probably decrease. And in my case, 1st gear became almost useless since it was already pretty short. That might not be the case with the Toyoburu twins though.

I would recommend hopping on forums, and trying to find someone local with a brz or FRS with gears, and going for a drive with them to see if they are for you.

I believe the higher your gear ratio is the lower your top speed will be also.
This is true also. Although, IMO, not that big of an issue, since a lot of people won't run their cars up to top speed regularly, if at all. To me, the bigger issues is turning high rpms on the highway just to drive at cruising speed, especially if you regularly drive on the highway. Add an aftermarket exhaust into that formula, and highway driving can be kinda miserable.

Driving it in the 6th or 5th gear could soften the blow . Is that even save though? I haven't had a chance to drive a manual on the highway.

Just to drive home what has been said

It will accelerate faster but you will sacrifice top speed. If you normally cruise at say 70 mph thats about 3k normally for me. Shorter gears might put you at 3500-4k depending on what you get. I'm assuming this will affect mpg but ive never changed my final drive so i couldn't say for certain
