Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

it gets me to hysterically laugh on a consistent basis more than any of the shows you posted. they roast each other for a third of the show

I'm not a big fan of happy endings. the acting is perfect but it's too corny for me to love or recommend.

not saying the burn is "better" than parks and rec or archer. but it you just want to zone out and laugh, it's the best.
usually only watch it when anthony jeselnik or natasha leggero are on

anthony jeselnik because he's hilarious

natasha leggero because im gonna marry her one day

Good for Burt Macklin.
natasha leggero because im gonna marry her one day
I dig it. I caught her standup on Comedy Central awhile back and she was in a cocktail dress, heels, and the gloves

She's got her character that she'll play, but I like it.

We talked a bit about the networks a few days ago, an interview with John Landgraf, president of FX, gives insight on why his network has been so successful.
He learned early on that the guidance he received from the networks was not going to lead to remarkable television.

“I always got the same dumb note from the networks. ‘Can you make the character more likable?’ ” he recalled last week in a phone interview. “Not make them more exciting, more compelling, more interesting, no, it was always make them more likable.”

Mr. Landgraf, who worked as a network executive at NBC during the ’90s and had a hand in “Friends,” “ER” and “The West Wing,” went on to form a television production company with Danny DeVito. He had 53 projects in development from 1999 to the early 2000s — nine that became pilots, six that were made into shows and one, “Reno 911!” that made it beyond a single season, albeit on Comedy Central.

“It was crazy-making,” he said.

He became convinced that network television was broken — that in an effort to make characters more likable, the industry made television that not anyone much liked.

Mr. Landgraf’s turn on the other side of the table came in 2004 when he became president of FX, the basic cable channel owned by News Corporation. He inherited “Nip/Tuck” and “The Shield,” but they were aging and he needed to replace them, so he went on a spree — of saying yes.

“We wanted to adapt our process to what the creatives needed and have a more efficient outcome,” he said. “We write a check to fund the production and they send us the shows. By trusting the people you work with — sharing the authority — and being willing to fail, things have gone pretty well for us.”

He said yes to a lot of dark and spicy fare — it is not as lurid as pay cable can be, but it is only technically less naked. And it is clearly intended for adults.
Funny how that works, isn't it? Article from The New York Times

The eps of The Burn with Amy Schumer and Dave Attell were really good. :smokin

But as far as reality/comedian type shows go, Billy On The Street is my jam right now.

It's like a Will Ferrell character is attacking random NYers with a game show.

I agree, I said it before as well, The Burn w/ Jeff Ross is hilarious. Sure I can see how it may get old for some but it's only a half hr and I could listen to Gilber Godfrey for a whole hour roasting ppl
Most of these dudes wouldn't know a great franchise if it bit them in the ***.

The enlightened ones of us, we know full well this franchise is serious. And I'm spreading the word is all.

I didn't get the Vin tat tho, I got Han on my left bicep tho.
I swear this is CP and every other FF fan in this thread

^^^ Speaking of Dave Attell, has anyone else caught Dave's Old Porn on Showtime? Its kind of bizarre, but also pretty funny ... if you don't think you'll mind hearing Dave and guests comment about Boogie Nights' era porn.

(Also, can I get banned for mentioning a show that talks about porn? Probably walking a fine line here).

They watch old 70s porn so no I doubt it. Too nasty to venture out and watch.

Only thing I got from that show was a better judge of some porn star's personalities. A lot of them are rea cool and funny ppl. Don't watch the show much cuz it gets boring though.

Asa Akira :pimp: for more than one reason now.

Yeah, its only good in small doses. I've watched probably 10-15 minutes each of 3 different episodes. Good for a few laughs, then I was ready to move on. And you're right, I was surprised about how cool some of the "industry" people he had on there seemed.

Yeah, I love Emily Blunt. She said "#%#%ing hell" in 5 Year Engagement and I thought it sounded charming and sexy.

Emily Blunt is one of the actresses I'll see a movie just for her.

Not on the Chastain, Amy Adams, Kendrick, Lawrence level (where I've seen almost everything they've been in), but I'll give it a shot for her.

This February is going to be the worst month for movies in a LONG time. The only one I'm looking forward to this month is Side Effects (83% on RT..)

Caught Silver Linings Playbook on Saturday.

Loved all the Desean Jackson/Eagles references  I don't know if I'm going to be able to look at Cooper or Katniss in any role again without thinking "Oh yeah, they have a mental illness." They were so believable, amazing. The dinner scene was HILARIOUS. "You have poor social skills" Cooper just saying things without thinking. Geez man, just everybody from top to bottom was awesome in this movie. De Niro, Cooper, Katniss, Tucker, etc. Awesome.

Am I the only one that KNEW the score of that Eagles/Cowboys game before the characters knew? Happened three years ago, NT blew up

Loved it. 9/10

February is generally a crappy movie month from my recollection.

But Side Effects will be seen on Friday for me.. only decent movie out this month like you stated.

Mad Men S5 spoiler, don't read if you haven't seen it.

Man, I really enjoyed Lane's character.. seeing him hang himself is was horrible. He was always a side character for the most part but really helped the firm out and to get where they were towards the end of S5. Will be missed.

Thanks for putting me on. Didn't know this was a show on tv just online. Just caught a few eps

Caught the last 30 minutes or so of The Americans premiere. I liked what I saw :pimp: Gotta catch the full episode though, but the show definitely piqued my interest.

How have I never heard of Carnage? came out like a year and a half ago

directed by Roman Polanski

Jodie Foster, Kate winslet, John C reiley, CHRISTOPH WALTZ

7.2 on IMDB which is pretty damn good review from 50,000 users

My wife & I watched it a while ago. Very clever movie nothing but 4 great actors & a solid script... Don't look for any twists or turns or action. Just 4 parents arguing about dealing with a fight between their kids & how things can unravel...It was a piece carried by good acting...

co-sign :smokin
