...I think they kind of want it.

HOLY ******G **** THE FOLLOWINGGGGGGGG!!!!!! :wow: :wow: :wow: :pimp:
Yes, now you know :smokin

I knew something was different just the way I was reacting to how FOX was hyping this show up before it even aired. Unlike the other crap (like the show with Jack Bauer and that autistic kid) I knew I had to give this a chance. Plus the other night I caught a 30 min behind the scenes/preview where the creator, writers, and cast explained a lot about what the show is about, how it was created, how they felt about it, and what they think of the characters.

It really paid off with the premise and Bacon and Purefoy were right, the show is literally like a movie. The execution of this concept and how grounded it came off made you wish it was a movie given all the moving parts. Just off this premiere the way I see it they could've had their own show of when this guy was originally captured but I figure with the flashbacks it'll just add to the show's layers in where it's placed now.

Someone spoil a movie for ya or somethin?

Big J, that list is awesome, and Brian Cox is hilarious as #1.

But I don't like the way they treatin my dude Neo.

Not many people watched Following last night or somethin? :nerd:

To this day, I still will never understand how Spiderman 3 got knocked off the tracks. 1 was solid, set the tone. 2 was an upgrade, and we were on our way. 3 announces Venom, and EVERYBODY is just bursting to see that one and that franchise would just go nuclear from there and then..... limp richard.

How the hell did that happen? :smh:

I think Amazing Spidey did much the same. It has set the tone, darkened it a bit, and with Foxx comin in next, I think 2 could surpass and set us up for another horrible Venom Spidey 3.

As for this
Don't do that. What Nolan did is beyond 1 in a million. It's like saying that every Sci-Fi movie has to be Empire Strikes Back to be good. Or every gangster movie ever done needs to be Godfather II. That's not happening. You have to view Avengers on a singular level. The same, but opposite of TDK. In a way, Comic book movies are supposed to be bright colored, flashy toys, fun, humor, sexy chicks runnin around in high heels kickin ***. Little teenage boys dreams. Avengers does that, but keeps it grounded. They do everything you would want, but makes it as realistically as possible, considering Aliens droppin by for lunch in New York and what not. Gotta give a little, to take a little.
Dark Knight ain't that. It's hard feelings. Dreary. Depressing. One lone shining light of hope. An entire police force is corrupt, but one guy, oh he can make all the difference. In a way, that's just as unbelievable as Aliens in New York, but in a realistic way. (if that makes sense) COULD an entire police force be corrupt? Yeah, I guess. But is there really gonna be one, ya know, outside the LAPD of course. Nolan makes you think it's all based in reality, and it COULD be possible, or true, and no hokey fantasy stuff, but I'm sorry, filthy rich billionaires don't usually fly helicopters around that no one can detect. And I find it a smidge on the um, not possible side that one man can swoop in on a town, and for THREE MONTHS be chillin in town, and the US government doesn't do **** except sit at the bridge and watch.

Again, I'm making light of the two, but in a movie sense, you have to view them on their own. Personally, yes, I prefer what Nolan did, no question, but that doesn't detract what Avengers pulled off. Multiple super heroes, all on screen together, doesn't get jumbled, pretty straight forward, performances were all good, dialogue was decent enough, pace was perfect, little to no drag, if there was no Dark Knight, if Nolan never does that, Avengers would be the beacon for all comic book movies. It would be unquestioned as the leader in the clubhouse. Just as Heat, or Casino, or Goodfellas would rule the gangster genre, were there no Godfather. Make those movies any less outstanding? Not at all.
The Sound of Music thinks that movie would be too long.

But here's the thing...even with the Godfather trilogy being as good as it is, you still have a whole grip of gangster movies that are close to being 10/10. TO ME, Nolan raised the bar. Before he came along, I would have given my nod to both Batman 1 & 2 (Keaton) as being the best superhero movies made that I've seen. I just could not get into Avengers. It was a tad bit too cartoony for me...almost like a 2012 version of Independence Day. I don't even think that I could hold a candle to X-Men First Class, which I thought was damn good. I can see why people liked Avengers, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

List is invalid w/o Jason Statham. If you've seen one of his movies, you've seen them all.

 Great point on Statham.

And I'll just pretend I didn't see Avengers and ID4 mentioned in the same breath. Naw, I'm just.....naw.

Olympus Has Fallen Trailer

Yo what's with Hollywood studios working on same themes for movies coming out the same year? Channing Tatum has a disaster movie about White House destruction coming out called White House Down later this year.

This one's Antoine Fuqua starring Angela Bassett, Gerry Butler, Morgan Freeman, & Aaron Eckhart as the President...It's weird seeing the White House under assault. Kinda creepy really...

I like that alot. Cast looks solid, surely predictable, all we need is Segal and that's Under Siege 3, White.

I'll be watchin that, at home tho, not a theatre joint.

Good to see a young brother (director Ryan Coogler ) do his thing...My in-law was telling me about this movie starring Michael B Jordan.

True Life Drama 'Fruitvale' Is The Weinstein Company's First Buy At Sundance

When Harvey Weinstein makes a move, people pay attention. And while he only landed in Park City yesterday, it didn't take long for him for him to make his first buy.
The Weinstein Company have snatched up the rights for the true life drama "Fruitvale," beating Fox Searchlight, Focus Features and Paramount for the rights. Featuring Octavia Spencer and "Chronicle" star Michael B. Jordan, and produced by Forest Whitaker, the film tells the story of the hours leading up to New Year's Day in 2009, when the 22 year-old Oscar Grant was pulled off a rowdy BART train at the Fruitvale station, and was shot in the back, dying from his wounds. However, cell phone footage captured the entire event, leading to the sentencing of Officer Mehserle to two years in prison.

The film has been building buzz in Utah, with the hot ticket movie "making everyone cry." Harv forked over a reported $2.5 million for Ryan Cogler's feature debut, and while no date is set yet for the movie, we figure it would be a factor in the 2013 awards race for the distributor.

Antoine Fuqua has done some nice work. I liked Brooklyn's Finest & his King Arthur starring Clive Owen (not to mention Training Day)...He does good popcorn flicks...Plus he's married to Lela Rochon...

Took me 10 minutes to find this thread. Whats up with the title change? Whats up with the switch into general? And is it strictly movies now?

Came in here to ask if anyone checked out The Following on Fox last night. I thought it was very interesting. Am definitely going to give this show a shot. I like the storyline a lot.

I love British crime dramas (like Layer Cake, Sexy Beast). Here's what looks like another good one called The Sweeney starring Ray Winstone (aka Frenchie) & Homeland's Damien Lewis...Trailer just hit the internets...

In short, Meth moved the thread into General because it hasn't been about Sports in some time and it should be in the proper forum. It's unfair to those who would never go into the Sports forum to find a movie thread and especially after the issues about T.A.N. discussing sports, shoes, etc. topics, it needed to be moved.

As far as I know, TV discussion is still fine since there isn't a multipurpose TV thread (and we don't really need one right now) Most shows that have even a decent following get their own thread, so I assume it can continue on the same as it has before.

I get it. I really do. Was just frustrated beyond belief when I couldnt find this thread earlier. It was nice when it was in S&T because it was so easy to find and always near the top of page 1. No big deal now that I know what the title is and where it is.

Sorry man, I reached out to a bunch of people but some did slip thru the cracks obviously. I tried to keep the title the same but it was requested by a few to be changed. My bad man.

As for Following, see the previous pages, yes, indeed, I will be Following. LOVED the pilot ep. I hope it stays this way for a long while.

I figured most people would be subscribed to the thread already.

I'm automatically subscribed (site only) to anything I post in. That way, I can just go to the homepage and see all the threads I've posted in and quickly catch up. And it's as easy as clicking an "x" if I don't want updates anymore.

Saw this movie over the weekend at my in-law's, Middle Of Nowhere. The actress starring in it Emayatzy Corinealdi, did a helluva job. I'm predicting big things for her. She's beautiful too... Always good to see David Oyelowo too...

Kinnison in back to school cracks me up everytime. Such an underrated movie. If anyone hasn't watched it, do it now. The original Billy Madison.

Rodney dangerfield and George Carlin are probably my most missed

I wasn't the biggest Farley fan, but hes appreciated. Him and spade are like PB and J. Spade's career never recovered.

Oh man and Phil Hartman :smh: News radio>
