Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Renner is picking up the next Bourne trilogy, correct? He was rumored to be replaced Cruise in the MI series too.

Yeah, I am not happy with Damon lately either.  He could EASILY be having a Leo career right now, and giving us DeNiro/Pacino type back and forth for 2 decades, instead we are getting this crap.  I know he "tried" with Contagion, Adjustment Bureau was semi decent, Hereafter was nothing, zoo is for kids, I really don't get it.  Hope he gets going again.

Not sure what Renner is thinking if he really takes both Bourne AND Mission Impossible.  That's crazy work right there, but if they do well and the $$$ keeps coming, hey.
laugh.gif
I read his back story how he was one of those livin on 5 bucks a week or some mess, so he'll probably do anything at this point.

So, Big J.......well man, Dexter last night.

Let's call this the top of the roller coaster, and now we're going to zoom down the final 2 seasons.  And it's going to be a helluva a ride.  I know you are on sabbatical with it, come back and finish it off.

Yes, absolutely.

However, it is slow going, it drags early, but it will pay off.  It's worth it.  She is terrific

No. If you're gonna watch the new one, don't watch it until after.
You should watch the 8-minute trailer though.

And can someone save Edward Norton from himself?

Leaves of Grass was decent, but even then, that film wasn't anything spectacular. Looks like Ed Norton is signed up for the new Bourne movie and Moonrise Kingdom which features Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Harvey Keitel and Frances McDormand. Ironically, each of those haven't done much in the past decade aside from a couple of really good films (and that's basically just Bill Murray, although I did like McDormand in Burn After Reading).

Don't get me wrong, I loved The Dark Knight, but I am not a huge fan of Begins, and although I'll give TDKR a chance, I personally like the original Batman more, along with Batman Returns. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I really love that first film.

Van Damme looks badass.

I'm a sucker, I know, but I loved the first, and I know I'll love the second.

but...

My dude, I have no doubt that the movie will be a lot better than The Expendables 2. No doubt, but I'm just looking forward to it more.

Matt Damon is very hit and miss. How was Contagion? I didn't get a chance to see it, and it seemed totally like a movie I would enjoy. I know my dad enjoyed Green Zone, and I didn't think he was bad in True Grit.

I'm more confused with the career of Mark Wahlberg. The guy shows flashes on brilliance, then he's a complete dud in films like The Happening.

Do people really like the Bourne films? I mean they're okay, but I'm not thrilled by them.

Dexter last night was amazing, I'm going to go into spoilers..

Spoiler [+]
I really wish they would have killed off someone this season. Whether it was someone insignificant like Bautista's fineass sister, or someone like Quinn. That said, this was probably one of the most polished seasons they've ever had. A lot of seasons start off REALLY well, but then die off (especially last season, and season three I believe). This one had so much potential from the start with Mos Def, and it lived up to it. Dexter was actually in threat a lot of the time. It was quite cliche and obvious what Dexter was going to do once he stuck himself with the needle, I was like.. "Yep, that needle is faux." BUT! The final scene, Dexter finally getting his revenge, killing DDK, and Deb seeing him? Love it. Love it. Love it. Especially now that Deb was realizing that she is truly in-love with Dexter. How will she take this? Who knows, but finally they end a season right! Last season we think that she's going to find out, and it ends on a dud. Season four ended pretty well, but still, this season wrapped up PERFECTLY. This entire time Dexter has been battling his demons, trying to find religious guidance, and what is his final line of the season? "Oh God." Brilliant. I %!+%%#@ love Dexter man. Is it my favorite show ever? I don't know, but damn.

Season one made me fall in love. Seasons two and three made me question the direction of the show. Season four renewed my faith. Season five was a dud. But now Season six is right up there with the best.

Loved it.

But, now my Sundays are free,

.

I may start watching Boardwalk Empire soon. I've heard it's great, but I just haven't had the time, yet I have two weeks of nothing to do, so maybe.

I liked the Bourne Trilogy a lot, don't really know how I feel about this Renner universe...Wahlberg has definitely had a weird career.

This show is really getting going now, and we comin on season 7 already.

Man, I seen the Prologue this weekend......I seen'd it.  And I can't stop thinkin about it.  This movie needs to drop, quick.  I can't wait no 7 more months.  I'm like a crack addict right now.

Marky Mark has done some weird @#$%
laugh.gif
I thought the first half hour of The Big Hit was great and it set up to be a solid film, and then........I dunno, Lou Diamond Phillips took over and that was that.  HE was supposed to revive Planet of the Apes, and that didn't work.  I pretend that's not him in Rock Star, and yet I completely love that flick for some reason.  The Italian Job was fun, but why he had to be the soft sensitive thief made little sense to me, and like half the cast outworked him, Four Brothers, Invincible, Shooter, We Own the Night, what the @#$% was goin on here?  Average movies, all.  He lucked into The Departed, Clooney took care of him for Perfect Storm and Three Kings, And then it happened..........The Happening.  Maybe the worst acted movie I have EVER seen.  With lines like "I can hear the wind thru the phone......"  I don't even know what to do with that.  (some cool visuals though, ideas perhaps, but the acting/delivery was
sick.gif
)  Max Payne and Lovely Bones, I dunno and between ALLLLLL that mess, we have Boogie Nights, and The Fighter.  How ANY of that makes sense, is beyond me.
laugh.gif

I dunno man, I don't know what to make of him.  But hey, he used to be a Backstreet Boy or somethin, then underwear model, and in the end, they made Entourage based off him.  I mean, in a way, he's a huge success, just not sure how, or why.  And for the record, maybe my favorite movie of his all time is one of his very first, Fear.  He was great in that, even though the movie is pointless, he and Reese did great, Milano was in it, pre her and steroids being the most passed around thing in MLB, as well as pre CSI Peterson.  Solid flick, maybe 8 people have watched it.

You must really live in some Village type of town
laugh.gif
like 90% of the people I know have seen Fear. Hell, my hockey team used to beat our chests with our fists a la Mark after the National Anthem
laugh.gif

I'm on the fence about Renner as well JRS. Plus, I wasn't really into any of the books after Ultimatum like I was the first set of 3.

eek.gif
Is this true?  Other people have seen the movie Fear?  Damn, I never knew that.
laugh.gif

Ok, big rental, maybe I should have worded it better, to 8 people saw it in the theatre.  That better?
laugh.gif

Never even heard of Fear

I loved the first movie. tbh, I only checked it out, because the chick from Run Lola Run was in it. It was just clever and understated and organic. The France car chase was amazing. Adebisi/Mr. Eko as a dictator was kinda awesome/comedy. Just the great direction in him remembering languages and all that. A couple steps up in storytelling from 'I know kung fu.' And people sleep on how good Clive Owen's cameo was. I mean the whole scene at her brother's house. And they made me like a Moby song. Rare. My favorite movie for a few months after I never gave it back to a friend of mine.

The 2nd one made me nauseous, but I learned to appreciate it, if anything for the way they blended into into the last one.

The 3rd, I ended up seeing 3 times in theaters. So good. This perfect balance between that organic, understated style of the first one and that frenetic, classy euro-Crank style of the second.

I guess they're ok now, cuz it's over and they over-hyped the hell outta them because Bourne jumped in a window and punched dude through a book. But while they were coming out.

I never liked Renner before Hurt Locker. He was just the douche from SWAT to me. I'm worried it'll go back to something like that. No faith.

I think my problem was that I caught the series in the middle. I actually think I saw the third one first. They just normally aren't my type of movie. I bought them a few years ago because they were a few bucks each. Maybe I'll give them a spin this weekend.

Whoa, The Town should have MIB'd your vision of Swat right from jump.  Come on now.  I can see you not diggin Hurt Locker, but, The Town.

I actually think I saw the third one first.
Huh?

And now you confused if the series is any good?  I dunno, try watchin it from the beginning, it might help.

Maybe it was the second, but I know I didn't see the first one first.
laugh.gif

I knew I thought it was cool and all, but I was confused more than anything.

And I'm a fairly big fan of Renner too. SWAT wasn't my favorite movie, but I thought he was decent then.

But 28 Weeks Later and The Town are two of my favorites he's been in. Hurt Locker was more of an experience and not a showcase of him in particular, I liked the film as a whole, not because of a particular actor, but because of the film.

The Town really showcased Renner, and I loved the hell out of that one.

JA...if Bourne Supremacy (#2) was the first one I saw, I probably wouldn't like the movies either.

Now that the TDKR trailer dropped...kinda lost all motivation to catch MI4 in theaters.

See he can play that guy from The Town.
He got really good at being that guy.
Hurt Locker was that guy who spoke less with some redeeming qualities.
Now he's gotta be the good guy bad-%%# followup to Jason Bourne?
On his own? No Anthony Mackie or Ben Affleck to bump heads with?

tbh I hope it fails so we can get the real Bourne back. On some Fast & Furious 2&3 %+!%. Damon waiting.
nerd.gif

Damon says he fully expects to return to Bourne. "I think if [Bourne Legacy] doesn't work, we can just ignore it and pretend it didn't happen, and that'd be fine," he says. "But I expect that it will work and only help us if we did another one, which I'd love to do."
