Throwing in Gladiator
pimp.gif

#4 was just okay, I didn't think it was "Spiderman 3/The Love Guru/Zohan/From Paris With Love" bad, (I've only subjected and tortured myself with one of those
laugh.gif
) but it certainly had its forgettable points but also its aspects that totally didn't make you shut off the movie and throw in something else. Acting sucked, but I thought the love story between the two was somewhat believable and coherent, so I gave the directors and two leads credit for that. Timothy Olaphant could have been utilized A LOT better. I know he was just the caretaker but they could have had a few scenes where he was training #4 in ways to harness his powers... you know, where he had more value to the kid than just sheltering him.

Reason I watched it in the first place was because I had a long drive ahead and I was searching for a movie to watch on my Touch. I Am Number Four had just been released on DVD and it was one of the ones on iTunes Movie's front page, so I said, "Eh. Why not."

From May 16...
Plans for an 'I Am Number Four' sequel have been "shelved".

Simons told Collider.com: "I think that that's on the back burner. The last I heard, they were shelving that idea for now. But, you never know. Sometimes the afterlife of movies burns brightly. They can certainly bring it back.

"But, right now, I don't think there's any immediate plans. My only real regret about that is that Number Six was really awesome and I would have liked to have seen a lot more of her. We need another kick-!%! girl heroine."

I'd probably watch something like I Am Number Six.

I'd probably pass on another Shaun flick.

This is fun.

Then they go and watch some foreign film with subtitles and some pretty colors and they want everyone to rush out and watch it.

Ya'll settle down.  Sometimes a movie is worth one watch, and then you never think of it again, no harm done.  I'm sure we've all watched worse movies then that.

Now, if you wanted to angle towards we had to beg, plead, and paypal money to Ska to watch Pulp Fiction, and yet he watched I am Number Four off a mere single mention, well then yeah, that's an angle I would get behind.

AHS was disturbing as hell last night, but you see where it's headed.  Pretty sure we are going to be 3 for 3 next week.  And I can not wait for Tammi Taylor vs Payton in that house here pretty soon.  That is going to be half the next season I hope.
It's been a fun season.  No idea if it will last, or keep viewers, but I enjoyed it overall.  It was very different, and they timed it perfectly with Halloween and all that.  Look forward to season 2, new castings, etc etc.

No no, you misunderstand me. I am behind the ska being begged to watch these good movies (Pulp Fiction, SotD, etc) while checking out trash and being like "better than ____ *trollface*." But beyond that, ska not liking any good comedies is just

And I really hope that the next AHS season finds a way to kill ghosts off. I'm tired of some of those people (not Hayden... I love Kate Mara).

I screwed up, it's not Payton, it's Hayden.
laugh.gif
Either way, yes, she's my favorite character so far.  And you are right, we do need to rid ourselves of some ghosts.  Hopefully they figure out a way.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

And when have I ever said "_______ (insert trash movie here) is better than _________ (insert good movie here)"?
laugh.gif

Indirectly saying it. Cant be like 'Shaun of the Dead is terrible' and then '#4 was decent' on the same page and act like that's not gonna be taken as a comparison

Deadup went to the OP table of contents looking for "Ska trolling harder than usual pg 346-7.

You don't need to read this Johnny:

WHEN Daniel Craig's limbs get creaky from doing so many stunts, at least he'll have something other than acting on his CV.
The actor has admitted he had to write sections of Bond movie Quantum Of Solace himself because of the writers' strike in 2008.

He said: "We were ****ed. We had the bare bones of a script then there was a writers' strike and there was nothing we could do.

"We couldn't employ a writer to finish it. There was me trying to rewrite scenes – and a writer I am not.

"Me and the director were the ones allowed to do it. We got away with it, but only just."

Now they can employ writers again Dan's hoping the next Bond movie, Skyfall, will be better than the last.

He said: "I'm genuinely really excited because we've got a script. The deciding factor for doing Casino Royale was that they showed me the script and I thought, 'F***, I've got to do this'. I think this one is better. I really do.

"It's a totally original story. I read it and it just works as a story.

"On a level of feeling satisfied, I would want to do better next time. That's really important to me."

The title is a lot better than the last Bond film already.

even though it's the same move Mike Bay used to troll people into seeing Transformers 3...
....this just got me hyped for the next Bond.

Friends-gladiator-1344905-1024-768.jpg

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Chills.

Gladiator SKYROCKETS into my Top 5 movies of all-time. (No Country For Old Men, Fight Club, The Prestige, Reservoir Dogs, Gladiator [in no particular order]). Right from the beginning you sense the rivalry brewing between Commodus and Maximus... and it doesn't let up. The battle scene between Maximus and the undefeated champ was so
pimp.gif
That mask that the undefeated champ wore
eek.gif
... talk about something to be intimidated about in the arena man
30t6p3b.gif
. That, combined with the tigers, Maximus' will to survive and disobeying Commodus' order when told to kill was superb. It's gotta be my favorite scene in the movie by far, but that's the beauty of this movie. There are so many scenes that you look back on and go "That was +@%*%%$ awesome." The early battle against the Germanic tribes, the scene where Maximus takes on all five opponents by himself and all his friends are able to just sit back and chill
eek.gif
laugh.gif
, the pep talk by the slave master Proximo, Commodus finding out Maximus was still alive and then Maximus' speech
pimp.gif
, the ending of course with Maximus being stabbed with the stiletto but still pulling out the W.

The film was fantastic.

Saw Oliver Reed (the guy that played Proximo) died during production.

Sad man. Read they used a double for a lot of his scenes. Despite being a "slave master" (which is a tag that's hard to escape with morality) he did a wonderful job of transforming that character in terms of likeability. What a great movie for the guy to go out with.

Ridley Scott offered the role to Mel Gibson before Crowe
sick.gif
. Just think, Gibson was coming out with The Patriot no more than a month later, and pumped out Braveheart a short five years before that... roles that would be annoyingly similar to this. Glad he turned it down, because I cannot imagine anyone else in Crowe's place.

You NEED to watch this Johnny.

10/10.

I might take some flack for this, but, Hugo was the best movie I've seen in a long, long time. I loved the hell out of this thing, and it had the best use of 3D I've ever seen.

Scorsese done made a masterpiece with that one.

Beginning to end, I was hooked.

I'm not going to spoil a single thing, but I urge yall to go see it in 3D.

The weird thing about Gladiator was, I assumed every dude on the planet watched it, til a couple of my friends were like...nah man, was that good? So I showed it to them thinking I dropped the ark of the covenant and they were like...ehhh it's good...had some boss moments, but that $%$# dragged +$%. Troy was better. You kinda overhyped it, man.
indifferent.gif

You can't overhype Gladiator. It's great, forever. It's a slow burn, but not one part disappoints.

Effing LOVE Gladiator! Definitely one of my favorites. Glad you liked it.
smokin.gif

MrO, thank you for posting that Bond piece.

Sucks it went like that, but I still liked Solace very much.  I supposed actual writers could have helped.
laugh.gif

I'm geeked for Skyfall, but a little bummed they aren't continuing the angle from the first two movies, that was something that I liked, a linear flow thru the movies that Craig does.  The 4 Brosnan ones were just random out of nowhere stories each time, it was cool to see something different in a 50 year old franchise.

JPZ, nice work.

  Johnny, get a clue.

So when is Oscar season because I thought it's usually in December. The lack of elite movies are staggering

Bond news, Gladiator love? Feel like the kid that always showed up to school with last week's hot new toy.

I'm telling you guys, Hugo was brilliant. It will be nominated, without a doubt.

Asa Butterfield for Best Actor? Wouldn't be surprised....

Chloe Grace Mortez and him were so much fun to watch on screen together.

It has to be one of the best 3-4 films of the year, and definitely was my best.

Yea, it feels like I'm still waiting for the movies to come this year.
