So I watched the new Salem's Lot. What a letdown. Before diving into the complains, the movie looked good. The production value is clearly good and the dark scenes are shot well with natural light to keep the shadows menacing. Some good acting performances throughout. Now...

Reading up on the film after the fact and learning that the studio interfered with a ton of the work makes sense. Felt like there was a lot missing throughout the story, and I haven't even read the book. Couldn't give two ****s about any of the characters, and the deaths all felt hollow, ridiculous, or apathetic to the story; the actors weren't even given the material to care so why should the audience?

Couldn't even give the main villain more than 2 minutes of screen time before the conclusion. This is the biggest offense. You give the characters the knowledge and information about vampires and build up this big bad as a huge force to be reckoned with, and then the movie's over.

Hopefully we get a directors cut that adds back all the cut footage because there was definitely something strong being cooked up here. 20 minutes of added dialogue and character building, another scene or two of the main vampire doing something scary, and maybe there's a decent Halloween film.

jpzx jpzx I think I’ll wait for Terrifier3 to hit TUBI.
Not really my vibe at the Theatre.
I’ll see if Kristin wants to go see it, if she’s in I’m doing it.

I don’t think it hit AMC though.
Harkins Regal and Cinemark In my city, none of the AMC

Have you seen 2? I haven’t and yeah I’m gonna wait until 3’s out streaming on one of the services I have

Yea I have but I think I fell asleep in the middle and woke up for like the last act and didn’t realize i slept through more than a few seconds of it.

I say this because I put it on again Sunday before bed and around the 30min mark I was watching things I didn’t remember, and then I fell asleep

I need some time I’ll probably watch it later this month

Went to see Joker 2 last night and thought movie was decent but many of the songs just killed the vibe and any momentum the film had during prison/asylum, interrogation and court room scenes. If they chopped off most of the songs I feel it would have flowed much better and they also could have dug into Harley's backstory a bit more. I get she was in love with his joker persona and made up a fake backstory but would have liked to hear more. Didn't really dig the ending either but can see why director went that direction. Overall would give it a 4.5/8.

Dang, sorry to hear you didn’t like it. Good review though. Do you plan on checking out the book?

Yeah, my wife's read it and said it was a lot better. She was legit bored by the movie. I guess when it comes to Stephen King you can't always adapt the most depraved **** he writes, so I guess that's fair. I'll check it out though; I want to get thru Mickey 7 and the sequel before the movie Mickey 17 comes out.
