Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I can see, on one hand, that it would be cool for a new generation of kids to grow up with “their own” Harry, Hermione and Ron.

But on the other hand, and feet and other body parts, I hate the idea of a Harry Potter reboot.

C CP1708 Did the thread get a title change? For the longest time, I’ve read it as: Oh I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?

In the title, did the word concentration get changed to conversation? Or was it always conversation?

I can’t tell if the title was changed, or my mind is just playing tricks on me. Lol, thanks

I haven't been able to edit any of my threads for about a year and a half.

But no, the title for this one hasn't changed in several years.

Am I trippin, or was there a topic in here recently, “Rank your top 5 space pilots” or something to that effect? My days and social media outlets are blending together

I see, thank you
Many, many moons ago, this thread existed in the Sports area of Niketalk. It started out as a thread about sports movies, but there’s a pretty limited number of those, so it became a thread about movies in general. It had a pretty basic, straightforward name like the “Sports Movie” thread or something similar.

Went on that way for quite a while, but then came along NT member who was an agent of negativity, causing trouble in many threads, and he made it an issue with NT management that we had a movie thread in the Sports forum that only very sporadically involved sports. So, the thread was required to move into the General area. That’s when the name change happened.

IIRC, the regulars in the thread discussed it and came to the consensus it would be better to call the thread something discrete and not just “NT Movie Thread” and so the “Oh, I’m Sorry …” title was created. It has always had “conversation” in it.

That’s how Old Uncle-pappy lawdog1 remembers things. I invite any of the other old timers to let me know if I got anything wrong.

Pretty pretty pretty close.

It was a random summer Friday in the NBA Thread and someone in there mentioned Spiderman, or something to the effect.

Not joking, in like 90 minutes that thread jumped like 8 pages. Folks were talkin Star Wars, X-Men, Iron Man, Breaking Bad, it was unreal how all these hardcore NBA fiends had similar movie tastes and interests.

So, I had a thought. A movie/TV show thread.....in S&T. But as a premise, it has to start out "sports related" but a lot of DM's were sent out to explain the goal.

We were years in, and hundreds of pages deep before someone reported us. So yes, we put our heads together and chose this title and here we are.

We lost a few of the NBA Thread folks, but lot of them are just off NT altogether. Sometimes I see an old straggler pop in for a post or two but then they drop off again.

It's been a good run tho. :Nthat

I don’t think I could rank my best space pilots, but I know for damn sure my guy Korben Dallas is somewhere on that list.

Do you guys realize how little you have actually said about this movie in the course of all these replies?

*edit* Big J gets where I'm coming from. Dear god, in all the discussions I've had about this damn movie, that's the most I've learned about the movie other than just reading the back of the DVD case. :rolleyes

But yeah, the rest of you, go look for yourself. All you've all basically said is the same thing everyone says:
"You have to see it!"
"It's a great movie!"
"It's Tarantino at his finest!"

"So many quotes!"
Name some. I can dig a good quote.
'You were the chosen one!'
'Do you feel lucky, punk?'
'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.'
'How ya like them apples?'

But the vague responses of disbelief and shock aren't very convincing. And this dialogue is typical of what happens whenever I mention to a group that I haven't seen this freaking movie: buncha popped eyebrows followed by descriptions of nothing and questions from me left on the table, touched by no one.

So it's a good story, enh? What's it even about?
All I know is Travolta and Samuel L. are badasses.
And there's drugs.
And fighting.
Well whoop-dee-GD-do.
A message. 🤣🧐
And I love the movie now, but I think it was at that point that I started learning that people really don't know how to describe their favorite movies.
I also learned that there ARE people who can describe their favorite movie without giving any spoilers, and those are my people when it comes to anything big screen. 🔥

nobody should have ever told you that scarface is one of the best movies ever made.

It's an over the top gangster movie and it always was. It had terrible reviews when it came out.
This guy still around? Because we need more of THAT energy. 🔥

“It changed. Why? Because tiny variations: the orientation of the hairs on your hands, the amount of blood distending your vessels, imperfections in the skin.”

“Imperfections in the skin?”

“Oh, just microscopic. And never repeat and vastly affect the outcome. That’s: what?”

“Millions of galaxies of hundreds of millions of stars, in a speck on one in a blink. That’s us, lost in space.”

Watched this last night. Didn't really care for the film itself, but the overall message and themes were intriguing. 4.5/10
