I'm still Hoarding Hereditary
I hoarded the Revenant for like 2 years also before I finally saw it. Sometimes when a movie is real good I keep waiting for a good time to watch it and it just gets shelved. Need to watch Hereditary already

Watched a thriller called 'Alone' on HULU last night. 93% on RT. Interested in others thoughts.

Has anyone seen Minari? It has a 98 critics/92 audience score on RT and it looks like a very intriguing movie. Budget theater near me has it playing so might see it tomorrow.

I'd give it a 4.5/8. It was slow for me and didn't really care for the protagonist.

Felt the same way.
I kept comparing it to 'Hush' for some reason. You empathize with the protagonist and it's pretty much not stop from the jump.
Best part of Alone to me was the setting in the pacific NW and the chasing through the forest, rain and all that.

I enjoyed the emotion conveyed by the actors. Toni was robbed. The story was unpredictable for the most part. The horror was well done imo; no cheap jump scares with treble turned to 11; the explosion in the final act with the family imploding was perfectly done.

I'm a fan of slow burn horror stories that prioritize character development and emotion, instead of gore porn (tho, Ari pushes the limit on his practical effects). I feel like Hereditary was a brilliant film, but it's definitely not for all.
