Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Fantastic Beasts getting no love on NT. I'm kinda shocked there isn't a bigger Harry Potter following on here. The fantastic beasts thread is dead :lol

Still haven't seen a HP flick in its entirety.

FB seems to have some of my fav actors in it and for sequels (Redmayne, Depp, Jack McCoy's daughter, etc.) though. One day I'll peep.

I aint even know The Affair premiered.

Noah's struggle :{

Story wise they have gone completely out there.

Its either that, or go to regular theater and see Hacksaw Ridge, Doctor Strange, or Arrival
i saw both dr strange and arrival. imo arrival is by far the better movie. packs a pretty good emotional punch. dr strange is a decent action movie and the 3d was pretty good.

Decided to check out Kubo and the Two Strings , after seeing it being mentioned in here. I found it very enjoyable. One of the best animated films I've seen in awhile. The characters were likeable, good story, and the humor was there.

I wasn't feeling one of the twists though. I thought that was corny, but other than that ....solid film. Watch your back Disney.

was talking to a friend earlier and the convo came up of your top 3 movies of all time. not top 3 of different genres but of all movies. been mulling about it since. think i have my top 3. what are yours?

Fresh (1994)
The GodFather 1&2
Lost In Translation

I saw Arrival over the weekend and this film is not only brilliant but immensely thought provoking.

Highly Recommended.

7.3/8

I for sure want to see it; just don't have a lot of time to get to the theater these days. Just started a new job, holiday/family stuff, etc. Maybe when my son's on Winter break.

Just saw Arrival...I thought it was decent, but got confusing at the end...still kinda confused...need someone to explain some stuff :lol

So the whole point the aliens came was to get Amy Adams she can see the future?

The "gift" was their language and they gave her the ability to see the future and go through the book to learn it because they were going to need the humans help in 1,000 years so they needed a means to communicate for whatever that issue was going to be

ahh..makes sense now...so is it safe to assume they laded 12 ships across Earth to see who will help them first? Then that person got the "gift?"

That part still confuses me. Like what will humans be able to help them with? These hentai aliens are far more advanced.

Damn I still haven't finished season 2.

I need to go through my TV backlog when I go on vacation.

arrival was great 6.8 / 8

Not to knitpick but that rating is a 85% which is very good but not great. (Considering 85% is a B).

Imho if you're going to give a movie a "great" rating it needs at least a 7.2 out of 8 (90% or A-) to make sense :p

Right @rck3sactown? 8o
I'd say a 7.2 makes it one of the best of the year, so maybe more than just great. Great sounds like a solid B or B+. Good is like a high C, low B. An A (7.2+) needs to be something with classic potential. At least imo

All of this

Finding Dory - 5.85/8. Definitely enjoyed it and had a lot of the elements that made the first one so good, but in a lot of ways it was the same movie with some variations in the roles and settings. I think they could have made it a bit more original as compared to Finding Nemo.

Looking forward to Manchester by the Sea. Big fan of Casey Affleck (underrated) and Kyle Chandler.
