* Offiical NBA Off-Season Thread: I'll give one of my damn kidney's for these Melo rumors to stop *

He really didn't have a problem w/Riles. It was the frustration of an 15-67 season talking.

Pat Riley's like a father to Wade. That's kinda the relationship they have. He also repects the hell  of Micky Arison (Heat owner)

Back to the topic though, who else wouldn't let LeBron get away with everything? Couch Wooden would have def been one! My his soul rest in peace!

Mo Williams trade value.

Dude said Mo Williams trade value.  I got a box of sharpies and a bucket of vomit, throw in a draft pick along wtih Mo and I'll think about it.

Seeing Ray murder my franchise last night is exactly why I want him to join Bosh in LA next year.  Didn't hit the rim on 7 of those 3's.

Given assurances that he would be back as head coach? Riles and Arison always keep their word, just ask Stan Van Gundy.... Oh wait.

The end of the day, if Riley feels like he can really make a push with the team, I think he's coming back without hesitation.

If we plan on giving Zach another extension, then we might have to sign and trade him. But, my suggestion is to let Zach go and save our money for OJ and Marc.

Rudy's max deal alone won't hurt our team like Pau's did because we had a lot of other bad contracts on the team during that time. If we give Rudy a max offer, then its up to the front office to say its time to let Zach go after this season or even see if a team would take him during the season as an expiring. Since the new CBA will be in place, OJ and Marc shouldn't command much money.

But now what's the plan in Memphis?  Rudy goes, Zach leaves, yeah you pay OJ and Marc, but you ain't wiinin with just those 2 and filler.  They need to get something solid outta Zach and Rudy.  Not just role guys to go with the main 2.

Heisley said he's committed to this 3-year plan. That's why I just don't see him letting Rudy go whether its a max deal or not.

I believe the team knows that without Rudy, we lose an automatic productive 20ppg and 6rpg player who can at least be a 2nd option on most NBA teams. I believe that's why Heisley so adamant about re-signing him. If I'm the Grizzlies, I see who Minnesota would be willing to offer in a sign and trade, if they don't give us who we want then no deal. We just match the offer and go on about our business.

Now, if Zach leaves, we do need to somehow replace him. I would rather replace him with an athletic stretch 4 who can block shots and maybe hit the midrange. Finding a way to draft Udoh or making a trade for Anthony Randolph would be perfect.

The playoffs is an indication of how important long, athletic and skilled players are at every position. We need more of that, not lose them. That's why I'm happy we went after Brewer. Only long athletic players on the team is Brewer and Rudy. We are undersized at every position other than SF and C.

KLJ, I never understood why you hated Rudy so much.

and, Memphis imo can fix their problems at the wing and frontcourt in this years draft with the amount of picks they got. or even trade them for an established vet like Tay Prince.

Let me stop you right here.

2nd option on a crap team?  You betcha.

2nd option on a team that wants to do well?  Not a @#$%^ chance in hell.  No way, no how.

If this guy is a 2 for his whole career then he is going to be on a ton of 30 win teams.  If he's in a solid 4-5 man rotation type team, then he has a shot to do some things.

Don't confuse 2nd option for solid franchise type 2nd option guy.  He's not that guy.  At all.

I'm gona give more credit and benefit of the doubt to Thibodeau to make things work offensively with Rose and potentially LeBron, than Mr. Potato Head.

I'm just not seeing this as the home run as some are. A defensive specialist with a ring (or two) with no prior head coaching experience? Sounds familiar.

Celtics have not been too quick during his tenure and the Knicks teams with him and JVG specialized in slug fests. Not sure how ingrained that is for him. Better hire the right people around him to get the offense going, literally.

my thing is Greg pop was ALWAYS the go to guy for the spurs defense but mike brown was also getting credit. Thibodeau is a clear cut figure head on the boston sidelines. i mean we all give him more credit then bum @** Doc

i agree 100% with you on the offense stuff tho

KLJ, I never understood why you hated Rudy so much
because like most of us he see's gay is not that good

thats right now, but what happens when the other young players are up for deals? his deal could look horrible

and cosign CP on rudy gay

I'm shock melo is talking a about signing it and not testing waters next year

The ONLY way I'm okay with the Timberwolves offering Rudy Gay the max is if Kahn pulls off a trade with Philadelphia to get the #2 too. Obviously, neither has a bearing on the other, but that's the only way I'll be okay with it. If we stay pat at #4 and do it, I'm going to be calling for David Kahn's head. Also, I don't see the Grizzlies matching a max.... I just don't. And they would be smart not to match it.

Then we could roll through 2011 and 2012 with Rubio dishing to Evan Turner and Rudy Gay with Love pulling down the boards

Yuck though

. Max contract and Rudy Gay should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

Why would you be shocked? The current CBA expires after next year, and maximum contracts could be signifcantly downsized in the next labor agreement.

Melo has already shown before that he definitely does not risk guranteed dollars(as opposed to Bron, Wade, and Bosh), when he signed previous deal. .
